LJ to return in a couple of weeks (1 Viewer)

ESPN's John Clayton writes that Larry Johnson (foot) appears to be on track to return in "a couple of weeks."

Impact: Johnson has been ruled out for Week 11 already, but is seeing a foot specialist once a week and Chiefs GM Carl Peterson claims he's making progress. Clayton believes L.J. could be back by the end of the month. Priest Holmes will start against the Colts' above average run defense this Sunday.

Week 14?

End of the month is like week 13 , that would be amazing since i lost him and Ronnie Brown so far this season.

I was lucky enough to have Grant and Chatman , but LJ would be wecome back for playoff time .

I traded him away after he was injured, but I have to say this is good news. LJ is a throwback football player. I don't follow him that closely, so maybe I an wrong, but the times I have seen him play, Jim Brown comes to mind. Love how he plays.

He's coming back that soon from a Lis Franc injury? Amazing!

Yes, that was sarcasm aimed at the onboard wannabee doctors who've been predicting gloom and doom. Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

That's great. Except my concern now is that he will give up more carries to Holmes if Priest continues playing fairly well.

I feel your pain with the loss of RB as well. As a dynasty owner I hope they don't rush him back and risk further injury. They can look at his paycheck and look at it one of two ways. Get him on the field we are paying him a lot of money, or, we are paying him a lot of money and let's protect our investment for the long run. I hope for the latter.

Like someone else said in another thread...we LJ owners need to hope the KC stays in the playoff hunt, or they may not risk much with him.

Although w/r/t LJ being a throwback guy, I don't think he's going out like that. If he at all can play, he's going to want to end '07 w/ a big game or two.

Or so we can hope.

That Wk. 16 at Detroit matchup is tasty.

LJ will be giving up carries to Priest because LJ will not be completely healed until well after the season is over not because of Priest's performance.

Ummm, where is the post complaining on this having it's own thread? Kidding. Thanks to the OP for getting this out there.

Don't worry, the Chargers have you covered. The division title will be up for grabs all season long.

Have you ever seen LJ in a game? He simply won't come out if he doesn't want to come out. And Herm would never pull him because he is to much of a wimp. UNless LJ wants a break, LJ will stay in the game, assuming health is there.

I thought LJ had two broken bones in his foot. Are those going to be fully healed in 3 weeks?
I don't think you can take what is a rumor and ask a hypothetical. I'm not saying he does/doesn't but there has been no word from the KC Chiefs organization or LJ himself saying this is the case, it might be true, it might not be true so there is no way to answer your question with any certainty.

You have to remember who the source is on this. John Clayton might be the least trustworthy news source in all of football. I would believe that Carl Peterson said that he is making progress and that he sees a foot specialist once a week. Beyond that, the rest is speculation from someone who is frequently wrong.I don't own LJ, but I do hope that he comes back soon. The poor owner in our league who owns him also has AP and had Cadillac. I actually feel sorry for him.

Ronnie, LJ, AP for me.

first of all Holmes has to start playing well.
Did he really do that badly last week? I don't think so.Good enough to earn a few more carries than he did prior to LJ's injury.Plus like cartel said above, LJ probably won't be completely healed.I'd feel much better about LJ's return had Priest gone out last week and fell on his face. He didn't do that.

Um, for the last time it's Herm Edwards. He picks one back and does not switch him and rides him to the ground. Remember Lamont/CuMart or every time Michael Bennett was supposed to take touches from LJ or how Priest was supposed to only get 15 touches last week. It's science.

Clayton is a very good reporter.

He ran for about 60 yards against one of the worst run D's in football and he had all the carries. yes, I'd say he did a poor jod Sunday.

Wow - I am in the LJ and AP boat (along with Steve Smith), but to add Ronnie Brown to that is just brutal. Great draft, bad luck...

Nah, 65 yards on 20 carries against the leagues worst run D is great.
well, I know you can't throw out plays, but there was one botched play where he had -13 yards. That would be 19 carries for 78 yards, which is respectable. In fact i think out of his 20 carries he olny had 4 carries for less than 4 yards, i wouldn't say that was horrible at all.

Agree, he wasn't bad but he wasn't good yet either. He was just OK which is OK for his first real action after the long layoff. KC faces a difficult run DEF this week playing IND so unless he tears up a good run DEF we might not know much about him until he faces another easy run DEF which actually happens the following week vs OAK.

In an auction keeper $$ league I have all manner of trade talks ongoing involving LJ... :potkettle:

With Westbrook and Portis I have been looking to strengthen other areas:

Gates, Winslow, Gore have all been mentioned in multi player deals...Now what?

:heavysigh:
