Guys like Ichiro, Pujols, Santana, Beltran etc should get in but not right now. Guys like Sosa should get in if they arent accused of steroids so Im saying hes not a lock.

So thats my list. Anybody you disagree with? Anybody else should be included (I may have forgot 1 or 2 guys). The hardest borderline guys I excluded were Thome, Helton, Tejada, Schilling, & CJones. I just dont think those guys make the cut right now.

Whoever does those comparisons....I'd love to see them for....

Delgado

Tejada

Kent

Vlad

All others I think are total locks. These four might be too, I just would have never thought "if they retired today".

And Sosa is about to hit his 600th home run. If Bonds is still a lock then there's no reason to leave Sosa off. He's more than a "should get in" at 600 home runs.

Here are teh HOF Monitor scores for active players. In theory, a score of 100 is HOF worthy and 130 is supposed to be a lock.

Don't agree with Guerrero, Delgado, Kent. Manny and Pedro are borderline if they retired right now.

Given that no modern era player with a HOF score of 150 or more has been kept out (except Rose for gambling and McGwire for alleged juicing), that means all these guys are pretty much going in in my book:Bonds 345Clemens 326Big Unit 320A-Rod 277Maddux 241I-Rod 212Griffey 209Piazza 205Jeter 194Almoar 193Pedro 193Sosa 191Henderson 186Thomas 184Manny 182Rivera 173Schilling 167Glavine 166Vlad 163Helton 161Other guys may get in as well, but these guys should get in unless they are discredited for juicing (thus no Palmiero). The only one that I would even have to think about would be Helton, as some will say he hugely benifitted from playing in Colorado and never played on a real contender.

Todd Helton - really? I can't believe he's at 163 already.
9 straight .300 seasons and a .334 career average will do that. And he's hitting .359 this year so I think it's safe to say he'll get his 10th in a row. 7 straight years with 90+ walks. 3 Gold Gloves. 1756 hits, 291 HR, 1022 RBI, 1.023 career OPS (7th best ALL TIME). And he's 33.

Thome >> Delgado

also, if Garvey''s HOF monitor is 130 and nobody is clamoring for his induction, HTF can he be considered overrated?

:lmao: And people ##### that Ron Santo isn't in the Hall

Delgado, Sheff, Guererro, Jeter and Hoffman are not in the HOF right now for my money.
Hoffman is the career leader in saves. He's a lock.
He's a compiler of an overinflated stat, he's not a hall of famer. What did being the all time leader do for Lee Smith?
Lee Smith didn't get in because his ERA / WHIP numbers were 3.03 / 1.256... Hoffman's numbers are better (2.72 / 1.041) and 500+ saves will get him in...

So Rivera is in but Hoffman is out? Overinflated for one guy but not another?
Rivera is in for some stellar postseason work. Hoffman spit the bit on the big stage

Rivera also played on much better teams than Hoffman did...Plus Hoffman didn't do that bad in the post-season... 1-2, 3.46 and 4 saves... 5BB/14K...

The Yankees wouldn't have been the Yankees without Rivera. Hoffman is a very good pitcher, but he's not a Hall of Famer.

Thome is a lock. Will end up with 550+ HR's.

Belle and McGriff should get serious consideration. Both had great careers during the "Steroid Era"

Belle was on the ballot this year and got 3.5% of the vote...He will never be on the ballot again...McGriff will never get in either...

I'm not even a Chipper Jones fan but do you think Biggio was EVER a better player than Chipper?

Disagree on Tejada and Kent. Those guys aren't in yet.
Kent is perhaps the best hitting 2B in baseball history......
Rogers Hornsby Joe MorganFrankie FrischCharlie GehringerRod CarewAnd that's just off the top of my head. Kent is nowhere near even the top of the list.
Oh yeah.....Jackie RobinsonEddie Collins
It's part of my sig now. I don't even think I've read anything in the Shark Pool that bad and Big Red posts over there a lot. That's saying something.

Biggio is a 2B and was a C. Held to completely different standards.

Kent is perhaps the best hitting 2B in baseball history and has an MVP title to boot. I was iffy on Tejada. I guess I can remove him.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Have you ever heard of Nap Lajoie and Rogers Hornsby? Seriously you should be suspended for ten days for saying Jeff Kent is the best hitting 2Bman in baseball history.
 perhaps down?
Yeah, on this one it is.

 It's like saying, Mork & Mindy was perhaps the best sitcom in television history.

I'm still in shock that anyone could say that Pedro Martinez is "borderline" if he retired right now.

Pedro is a lock. No question about it.

It was well on its way until that damn Jonathan Winters season

PITCHERS

Clemens 326

Big Unit 320

Maddux 241

So Randy Johnson is just a shade under Roger Clemens and a LOT higher than Maddux? :football:

how about a career .307 hitter that averages 100 plus rbi's a year with a SLG of .519. Throw away 2004 and 2005 when he was injured but right now he may be the most underrated right fielder if not player in baseball. Why the Sox let him go I'll never understand. Magglio will be in.

He had a bad knee and the Tigers overpaid ( well overpaid for a hurt guy at the time)interesting to see these HOF scores. Look how close Morris and trammell are in score. Too bad that Tiger team gets the short end of the stick by the writers. Morris should be in for sure, for his clutch post-seasons and being the best pitcher in the 1980's

Those throw away years count though. Ask Tony Oliva. He's a great player, an allstar, but at nearly 30 years old with "only" 1493 hits and 230 home runs he's got a lot of work to do. There's a hell of a list of OF's he'll need to jump ahead of just to get to Jim Rice.

Hmmm . . .Ordonez is already 33. His HOF Monitor score is only 73.5. His career totals to date are:1493 hits, 231 HR, 895 RBI, .307 AVGI'm not saying he's not a good player, but he has A LOT of catching up to do to get his career totals higher to merit serious consideration.
