LOL, Harbaugh and Ravens '08 Special Teams Draft (1 Viewer)

After a gamble and a gain in a 3rd round selection, the Ravens may have selected a future solid QB and a deep Special Teams roster. The Ravens added some very athletic players to their special teams with:

2nd Round RB Rice RB

Looks like Harbaugh went with his strength, the special teams should be at the top of the league.

I don't think I would rank them as the top in the league quite yet. First of all, who is returning? We haven't even seen the notre dame kid return in the NFL if you were referring to him as their missing link. Also, many special team players are just back-ups at other positions. So to say all of these guys will play special teams is kind of far fetched yet.

They still have a huge speed guy in Yamon Figures as THE return guy. I was speaking of more of the overall athletic ability of their draft. It seems like they targeted second stringers with high motors and bone jarring hitting styles. I'm still trying to add slow downloading youtube links to the original posts. It really seems like they targetted ST guys in this draft. Add any other vid clips you've found. Baltimore wasn't too bad last year in the ST's category. I'm really hoping Yakamura makes the team, definitely a jersey to have if he makes the team. Zbikowski (Notre Dame kid) is a stud in the making on this D, not to mention his playmaking skills in the ST aspect of the game, check out his boxing skills at the end of the youtube vid, classic.

I'd imagine Ozzie was the one making the picks, not Harbaugh.
I think he's referring to Harbaugh's influence as a ST's coach for many years. People sleep on how important ST's are. Especially with a suspect QB, field position can be everything.

Sadly most of (or a good percent)the college players drafted will be playing ST and won't be immediate large contributors. The Ravens are no different than the other teams in that regard.
