Longoria and B.J. Upton almost throw punches in dugout (1 Viewer)

I assume this is just dumb schtick, yes?

This stuff happens on every team at some point during the season and Upton has a history of dogging it.

Big pile of nothing to see here...

:wall: Yeah... that's why it was the lead story on Baseball Tonight and Kruk, Valentine and Showalter spent 15 minutes on it.

these are arguably their two biggest stars. I wouldn't call it nothing. Imagine jeter and arod in this scene

Maybe if Upton would stop hitting .230 and give effort in the field Longoria wouldn't have to call him out. Upton looks like a fool on this one.

ESPN never dramatizes anything, do they?
Oh, that settles that, then.... it's nothing!

if playing against his brother wouldn't motivate some pride, I don't know what would. Maybe they should dump him and try t keep cc

Maddon just said "it's up to me now to handle this the right way." I fully expect Upton to be suspended.

That clip I posted doesn't do it justice. In the longer clip on ESPN TV, Upton goes NUTS! Had to be restrained for a good while.

Upton has a history of dogging it. A long history of it. Was very pleased to see Longoria call him out for it.

CC will get 17-19 million next year. Or, at least in that range. I don't know what Upton's arb figure will be, but it will be maybe a third of that, tops.

They should have gotten rid of Upton when his value was higher. Now I don't think he would fetch much in a trade. Severely overrated player who also doesn't give his best efforts. Oof. Good for Longoria to call him out. Embarrassing display by Upton.

I don't think there's anway he gets that much. I'd predict an aav of 14.5 with a ceiling of 16 mil based on the length over 4 to 5 years. Granted even at that it might be too much but upton doesn't look lke a long term piece.

Well, he's a terrific defensive player and Jennings wasn't ready when Upton's value was at peak. And after '08 he looked like a super-duper star who was signed cheaply for four more years. Hindsight is nice, but you don't trade guys like that.

Maybe not, but it seems like those are the early figures you hear. 5 years at 80-85 million.

no way

"B.J. came in off the field after that particular play and everybody saw it, and some guys were not really pleased and certain things were said," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "He was set up on the other side -- in other words a right-handed hitter he set up in right-center field and the guy pulled it into left-center. He just did not run as hard as he possibly could have after the ball, that was obvious. That one there just didn't have a good look to it."Added Maddon: "It's just one of those moments that happen and now it's up to me to handle it properly."Maddon planned to meet with Upton, and was undecided about any potential punishment. Upton, who was also picked off first after a walk in the bottom of the fifth, has been benched several times for a lack of hustle.

Embarrassing. Way to have some pride, Upton. Unreal.

Yea, with his brother on the other side of the field. BJ has a lot to learn.

Longo may be one of the best leaders in baseball. Guy is literally everything you want in a ballplayer.

Upton loses focus. I would have loved to see Longoria mop the floor with Uptons face.

How could this possible hurt? Nice to see Longo officially step into the leadership role.

IIRC, BJ has reacted to issues like this in the past in a good way. He's a very intelligent guy...I see this as a spark.

I don't know how intelligent he is, but he definitely comes off as a smart well spoken guy in the interviews I have read. Also appears to come from a solid family. Which is why his behavior on the field is so puzzling.

No question, he is the anchor for that team. Great bat, solid glove, good leader. And at a bargain price.

I wonder if its organizational. Delmon Young, Elijah Dukes and Josh Hamilton all had their issues here.

Yea, Elijah Dukes is definitely ####ed in the head because of the Rays. And the Rays also made Josh do those piles and piles of cocaine.Don't be ridiculous.
