Looking for break-out or under-rated WR (1 Viewer)

Personally, I think Meachem is a bust. I won't be surprised if Arrington passes him this season.
 Meachem occasionally breaks a big one, but other than that, he hasn't impressed me at all. He seems like Henderson lite...and that isn't saying much. The fact that the Saints kept Henderson is pretty telling to me.

Two guys I like this year:

WR Miles Austin(Dallas)- I think he'll end up being the #2 guy ahead of Crayton. He's got a good QB in Romo and he'll get him the ball. Can score some long td's.

WR Keenan Burton(Rams)- He should beat out Laurant Robinson for the #2 spot. Teams will focus on Avery so Burton will get plenty of looks. If they can keep Bulger upright he could have decent production.

I like Burton, but don't know if he can win the job. Robinson showed a lot of promise as a rookie. He was a FBGs favorite. I think a change does him good. But whoever wins that spot will be worth keeping an eye on. Avery is a dazzling player, but he's not the type of guy that is going to churn out 7,8,9 catches a game like Andre, Fitz, Marshall, or Megatron. So there will be opportunties for other players in the passing game.

No love for Johnnie Lee Higgins??

The guy look sliek a playmaker with the ball.

Maybe getting it to him might be a problem.

Steve Smith NYG: Is he going to be starting this year? Or is he going to have a similar role of last year where he stays in the slot?

Andre Caldwell will likely be the #3 in Cincy and I suspect he will have a lot of 3rd down catches that would have otherwise gone to Housh, and Caldwell will also likely be the return man and showed some potential at that position late last season.

Caldwell over Chris Henry for WR3, I don't see that.

If they don't make any trades, I think he will start and move to the slot when they go to 3 WR sets. I think he has a legit chance to get to 1000 yards. He has a knack for getting open.

Manningham might have a nice sophomore campaign in '09...Hixon isn't the answer, Smith is a #2 at best, Plax is on the fritz for now...Moss is a decent 3rd option...Manningham has a legit shot to take the #1 WR role in the NYG offense...reportedly he makes all kinds of big plays/circus catches in practice ( during the 2008 season), and they'll need to see what they have with him at some point by playing him full time..
I don't see any legit star #1 on the Giants, but I don't agree about Hixon. he did a very good job except for one wide open drop he had that everyone is harping on. Outside of that he was doing very well. The Giants have a lot of solid #2 WR's

I think he is a sleeper in PPR because of that ability to get open. In a WR 3 role he averaged 3.6 catches a game playing primarily out of the slot. If he starts as it appears he will be doing I don't think it is hard to see that average go up at a minimu 1.4 catches a game to get him to 5 a game. At 5 a game that works out to 80 on the year. Now at 80 catches and 12 YPC that would put him at 960 yards on the season, which is right around the 1000 yard mark. Now before someone says he only averaged 10.0 YPC last season, we have to remember that was out of the slot where your average is usually lower due to the role of the slot guy. Houshy and Welker's YPC of 9.4 and 10.4 are prime examples of this.

x2 Caldwell is 4, Simpson is 5... for now.
Yeah that's the lineup for now. I just don't think Henry is best suited for the slot where Caldwell looked pretty good for a few games there. Caldwell is a future starter IMO.
