LT and Turner owners week 16 and 17... (1 Viewer)

There is a lot of talk of resting LT these last two games. Not completely, but using Turner with LT to keep hime fresh for the playoffs. If you were wise enough to handcuff LT and Turner this year you have to be considering starting them both don't you? Even if LT gets 10 carries he can outscore many RB's with the way he is running right now. Is anyone else considering this stratagy the last one or two weeks (especially week 17)?

I know it is just a small article but I'm a little worried. LT carries you all this way and then what?

They need to win and LT gives them the best chance to win. Weren't there all kinds of articles stating that Turner was gonna be in the backfield, he was gonna cut into his carries this year, etc. Start LT with confidence.

I am also an LT owner and worried about next week but I look at it this way. If Tomlinson was on the field at the end of the game last night when they were simply just running out the clock then I think he will still get a large number of carries at lest next week. For all the LT owners out there lets hope that the Seahawks can keep it close so LT can keep getting carries.

I'd take 2 or 3 quarters of LT over any other RB playing a full 4 quarters plus overtime, anyday, all day.

Agreed, but what about Turner. Is he worth starting too vs. Boarder line 2nd RB's? I'm not sure on this one (not that anyone can really be sure).

If you have Turner the way things are shaping up I'm not sure if you'll be able to use him or not in Week 17. Here's the breakdown:

Week 16

If Baltimore wins, the Chargers need to win to maintain their lead for the No. 1 seed in the AFC (the Ravens hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their victory over San Diego)

If Baltimore loses and San Diego wins, the No. 1 seed belongs to the Chargers. I could then see LT (as well as Gates and Brees) sitting out the entire game in Week 17.

If Baltimore and San Diego both win this week, then it goes to Week 17. The Ravens play early and the Chargers are one of the two late games. So the Chargers will know in all probability by the time their game begins whether they need to win that game for the No. 1 seed. If the Ravens win, then the Chargers need to win. If the Ravens lose, the Chargers have nothing to play for and I would expect the top players to all sit out or play very little.

The only caveat here is the rushing title. Will Schottenheimer expose LT with the hope that he can win the rushing title? He would know by the start of the game how many yards LT needed (assuming he wasn't already in the top spot) so he could play him a little to get him the title and then sit him. But given how Schottenheimer tends to sit LT completely in meaningless games I wouldn't rule out Tomlinson sitting and not playing at all.

So if you're a Turner owner but don't have LT you may be stuck having to wait until the early games are over in Week 17 before you find out if you can start him or not. That's assuming the Ravens win this week. If Baltimore loses and San Diego wins, then we should have a pretty good idea what's going to happen well before the game begins.
