LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) did not practice on Thursday and is in danger of missing Week 2, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Tomlinson's now missed two straight days of practice, and while he's seemed confident all along that he'll play, he could be listed as questionable on the injury report. LT2 owners need to grab Darren Sproles. The Chargers' team depth chart lists him ahead of rookie Jacob Hester, and Sproles was by far the better back this preseason as both an inside and outside runner.

Sep 10 Mike Sullivan, of the North County Times, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) missed the team's practice Wednesday, Sept. 10, but he is expected to play Week 2.

Update: Tomlinson (toe) did not practice on Wednesday and might not work until Friday, but he says he “definitely” will play on Sunday at Denver, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Recommendation: “It is feeling a lot better,” Tomlinson said Wednesday. “I think the smartest thing to do is just probably rest it. I’ll practice. I’m just not sure what day yet.” Tomlinson suffered a similar injury with two games left in the 2003 season, and he rushed for 91 and 243 yards in those final two games. He should have no problem getting up for Denver in Week 2.

Well you know how LT does it. He'll give it a go, but if he doesn't feel right after that first series you're S.O.L.

LT "supposed" absense from Week 2 has caused me to think of a scenario that could pan out...This question doesn't really refer to this year but I'm looking more of who the future guy for SD is AFTER LT is gone.

There was talk of him wanting to cut his career short, for reasons I don't quite remember (not sure if those reasons even came out). I don't have a link for that but I do recall hearing it. Assume LT decides to end his career after this season...who is main guy then?

Sproles is on top of Hester on the depth charts but is there a guy between the two that SD will do their best to let them succeed? Perhaps snagging this guy the last week of waivers will pay off at year's end instead of losing on an opportunity if this guy could turn into a Ryan Grant.

Am I reaching too far on this idea?

Yeah, that little wuss. I don't care what 7 years of history have told us about how he plays through injuries and puts up huge numbers on a consistent basis. I'm going to base my decisions on what have you done for me lately!

Interesting situation for me.....have the first waiver wire pick this week..Cassel or Sproles? :goodposting:
Seriously? You're thinking of picking up a guy who might start for a week or two until Ladainian is healthy over a guy running one of the best offenses in the league and guaranteed to start the rest of the season barring injury to himself?

Well......yes I am, nothing wrong with thinking about it

What if LT does miss the game. What are the expectations from Sproles? Can he do some damage against Den? I know he is no LT but can he get some yds on the ground and catch some passes with a possible score. Anyone have an opinion?

I think sproles could light up denver, but I doubt you'd have any kind of notice to know he should be in your line up.

at worst, tomlinson probably starts and comes out early in the game.

good luck.

maybe you can hold up a panicky tomlinson owner for something.

I am the panicky Lt owner who also has Sproles. This blows. I kept telling myself he had 1 or 2 good years left in him before he started to break down. He will probably be ok but I should have taken Westbrook or ADP.

Again, those quotes are from yesterday. If you check out the latest on the SD Union-Trib Chargers blog they say his status could be "up in the air". http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/cha...cro-or-mcneill/

Seriously you know Cassel is starting for the rest of the season? How do you know that?Brilliant!!!!!

Where is the followup to all the preseason banter about Jacob Hester vs Sproles? Do you drop Hester for Sproles or is Hester the guy if LT2 goes down in week 12? I want the long-term starter for this year behind LT2. Sometimes the number 2 stays number 2 when the #1 goes down.

Chargers | Tomlinson says he'll practice Friday Published Thu Sep 11 10:47:36 p.m. ET 2008

(KFFL) The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) says he will practice Friday, Sept. 12, after missing the team's practice Thursday, Sept. 11, with a sprained toe. Tomlinson added, "It's just a sprained toe, that's all. But you try and get as much rest as you can and you have to take it. It's the heat of the season -- you don't really have time. You got games; it's not preseason any more. On Sunday [sept. 14], I think I should be pretty good."

It's always the kiss of death when they say "I THINK I should be pretty good"

It's RBBC if LT goes down. Hester inside the 20 and an occasional series. Who you have rostered probably depends on the composition of the rest of your team. Do you have a viable RB 3 and/or 4? If you have a strong team around LT and your cuff would be a RB 3 or boarderline 2 for you... you probably want Sproles because he'll get more yards and receptions. If you're going to have to "swing for the fences" each week to compete... you probably want Hester and he's more likely to have 60 yds and 2 TD's than Sproles. As for the toe... someone at the game reported that they saw him running after the game w/ no noticeable limp or discomfort... durring the post game interview you can see him comfortably and naturally shift his weight over and back from both legs... and he say it's "getting better". I think he'll play... however I also think if he doesn't... we won't know until seconds before kickoff. Hopefully he partially participates in practice tomorrow or there's some report he was running w/ the team... if not, my concern magnifies.

The Patriots have said as much.

I have LJ and Chris Johnson, who both have great matchups. I may be tempted on Sunday to sit LT. I could see him getting limited carries, or possibly aggravating that toe and sitting out sometime in the game.

Tomlinson, Cromartie practice

LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Cromartie returned to the practice field today, Cromartie on a more limited basis than Tomlinson, who took half his usual reps, according to coach Norv Turner. Each is listed as questionable for Sunday's showdown with the Broncos at Denver. Meaning, of course, they'll be in there.

I realize the Chris Johnson hype machine is out of control...but stop the bus before you crash hard. LT is fine, and has a pretty good matchup himself vs the Broncos.

I agree a healthy LT is a better play over Johnson every week, but I am talking about the uncertainty of a late game.

Can't see sitting LT but aggravating his toe would be my concern even if it is minor.

I missed that very key word the first time around.
