:loco: Was hoping for a little clarification from today's game. All today did was clarify that I can't start either of them with confidence next week.
VS the Browns next week, maybe one of the few weeks to start them both with confidence
Oh yes, can I please bench a stud so that two Bills RBs maybe put up RB2 numbers?
Common man, you've been here since 2004, WDIS post belong in the Assistant Coach forum. I'd think someone who has been here that long would have somthing intelgent to offer. Never fear though, I'll try and pull your weight too, here's some reasons to believe Fjax and Lynch have upside next week VS Browns:Browns are the 31st ranked run defense, Lynch will have a second week of practice under his belt, and the Bill's wont be going agianst a very tough Maimi defense(ranked #2).

Bills VS Miami 2008 (2 games)

Lynch: 26-92 1td rushing, 6-38 receiving..... 67 total yards .5 td/game

FJax: 10-41 Rushing, 1-1 Receiving...... 21 total yards/game, I dont know if he played in the second game, he didnt have any touches in that game

Bills VS Browns 2008 (1 Game)

Lynch: 23-119 rushing, 10-58 1 td receiving... More FF points in one game than both games VS Miami last year combined

FJax: 10-58 rushing, 0 catches.... More FF points in one game than both games VS Miami last year combined

Anyone who thought the Bill's would blow up Miami rushing today did not do there homework and look at the matchup, or read the numerous red flags posted in this thread....

Don't own Lynch in any leagues, but I will be starting FJax with confidence and would do the same with Lynch, but FFdork, I never said to sit studs for them, just to expect good numbers from both.

Any more thoughts on Lynch here? Could he be a respectable RB2 or RB3 for the rest of the season?Anyone buying low?
It looks like they're going to give Lynch the ball, whether he's ready or not. So respectable RB2? - not for at least a few games. Respectable RB3? - yes, if respectable means 50-60 combined yards and a couple catches. In keeping with the spirit of the thread, I think the above goes the same for Fred Jackson.May the upper limit of fantasy values of both Lynch and Jackson rest in peace.

 First off the post I made wasn't a shot at you--just frustration that they look to continue the 50/50 split which isn't good for fantasy owners. I have no idea what you're talking about with the WDIS stuff nor do I really need the attitude. I was simply stating that I would have to bench my RB1 in the two leagues that I own Lynch/Jackson in order to play them both (the only way to assure getting the points coming to Buffalo RBs this week). Not usually a great strategy & as poorly as the offense played I don't have any confidence that BOTH guys will go off next week, which is how I would have to feel to start one of them with confidence.

The match-up is nice and makes one (or both if you don't have better options) of them a reasonable gamble play this week.

As I said in the Michael Bush thread there is too much obsession going on with carry distribution imo. The most important thing you take away from this game is that the OL is as terrible as the pessimists predicted in the preaseason. It took a few weeks and a couple injuries (and a stronger run defense didn't help), but they are now that bad. You're certainly playing him against the Browns and Texans in the upcoming weeks still (otherwise there's no point). I would avoid like the plague against the Jets/Titans and consider both RB's a flex against mediocre D's like the Panthers.

I don't understand why people are surprised/pleased/toldyouso/shocked that Lynch struggled after not playing since August 29th. Good lord. Just content yourself with the fact it's going to be shared time as he works himself back into game shape, and wait until the end of October before making any grand proclamations.

When you take a step back it's not surprising. I think a lot of people got caught up in the idea that if Jackson was being really productive in the offense, Lynch might really tear it up upon returning. If he had looked great yesterday, you could feel confident he would start to get the larger share of the load going forward. Now we're left guessing what the coaches are thinking in terms of distribution--the productive guy vs. the highly paid guy with (perhaps) a higher ceiling. It was probably being both overly optimistic about Lynch coming off a 3 week vacation and selling Jackson's skills short..

Sorry, I took your post wrong and was going off 2 hours sleep.... :bag:

I don't get why both are worthless, now. What back in the league isn't sharing with someone? Ok I know there are a few but RBBC is the norm. Now if you are saying that due to a poor team and splitting time they are worthless I might be on board with that.

What has happened to the Bills oline? Injuries? Will it get better? It looked good in the first two weeks...

Nothing. Jackson played as well as he has to date. But he split half the carries with a guy who hasn't played football in 9 months. See my previous posts about preemptive excuses, it should cover everything.

I don't get why people overreact so much. One game never tells the story, especially the first game against a good defense.Lynch is a beast. And a better running back than Fred Jackson, who has already produced well behind this line. He will get his, garunteed. At least give him the next couple games against some softer defenses before writing him off. Patience is often rewarded in this game if the talent is there, and Lynch has plenty of it.

Nothing?????? I wish it was nothing. Starting RT Brad Butler is out for the year after the Tampa Bay game. Demetrius Bell, the 7th round project, son of Karl Malone, heir apparent to Jason Peters was injured against New Orleans. So, the starting line up for the Dolphins was: LT Johnathon Scott, 3rd string RT/LT (8 career starts), LG Andy Levitre (4 career starts), C Jeff Hangartner, RG Eric Wood (4 career starts), Kirk Chambers (6 career starts)Missing Bell and Butler shifted Scott from his usual RT spot to LT and put Chambers who is the 3rd string Tackle reserve in the starting line up, and it showed. If anything, they would both downgrade because of the OL and Captain Checkdown not opening up the field. I think people are over analyzing how Lynch and Jackson have affected each other. It's the crappy OLine and QB play right now.

Exactly. With the moves they made in the offseason they pretty much went all-in on "please no injuries" and it's going to backfire. Paper thin.

Lynch IS a beast. There isn't a defender he doesn't think he can run over... as he's being dragged down by the other 3 defenders.

Really appreciate the insight :lmao: Really bummed to hear this since I own both guys.... So one olineman is out for the year. How long is Bell out for?

As a Lynch owner I hope your right but doubt it. I think FJax patience and vision make him a better runner even though he does not have the same physical tools. When does Lynch contract come up, because I would not be ponying up alot of dough for an underachieving back 1 mishap from a possible year long suspension.

most important thing: Lynch will get goalline carries
Buffalo – RB Fred Jackson had 2 red-zone rushes, including 1 goal-line rush. RB Marshawn Lynch had 2 red-zone rushes.

RB Marshawn Lynch(notes) had 6 pass targets and 5 receptions for 43 yards, with a long of 23 yards. He had 2 red-zone targets.

RB Fred Jackson(notes) had 5 pass targets and 3 receptions for 26 yards.
Week 4 targetsNot saying this is what the future will hold, but from this info Jackson got the one goal-line carrie, then Owens and Reed each got one goal line pass.

That link for the week 4 targets is one of the best reads every week I would say, make setting up lineup a little easier.

Has anyone seen the PPR cheatsheet for week 5? Lets just say its worthy of its own thread..which I may go start now.
Yep. For the purposes of this thread, lets just say that Dodd's is very high on Lynch this week. I was thinking Jackson was the safer play. Now I'm even more confused.

Yikes. Beast mode went 8 carries for 4 yards (although he did have 5 catches for 43 yards) Didn't see the game so I'll be curious to see if he was that rusty or the Dolphins just completely dominated the line of scrimage.
Jackson, 9 carries for 42 yards. I'll let the Lynch apologists explain why this isn't relevant.
could you tell us why it is relevant? they both sucked. :goodposting:
Yeah, youre right. 8 carries for 4 yards compared to 9 carries for 42 yards. No difference there. Totally irrelevant.
Lynch 17 carries 69 yards 4.1avg long of 12 yardsJackson 13 carries 30 yards 2.3avg long of 6 yards

Lynch 6 rec 56 yards 9.3 avg long of 35yards

Jackson 2 rec 17 yards 8.5 avg long of 9 yards

Using the logic of the Lynch supporters from 1-2 weeks ago: "Clearly the defense was placing more emphasis on stopping the run when Jackson was in the game, because he is the superior threat. That is why his production was lower"

The good news: Lynch was clearly better yesterday. The bad news: Jackson will still significantly cut into his touches and the Bills offense is terrible.

Owning both guys (and Harrison), I can tell you that this is a little like Cleveland starting Jamal Lewis and giving him 31 carries.... except that Lynch is good.

Clearly this is Lynch's backfield with a really solid dose of Jackson. Lynch is the only safe play for the moment IMO while F-Jax goes from top 5 PPR RB in weeks 1-3 to unstartable in a 12-teamer.

That's the way the ball bounces... especially when it is shaped like a damned pointy blimp.

Lynch is clearly the guy imo. I think Lynch will start carrying the majority of the load closer to the end of the season.

I even think he's a great buy at this time.

Chiefs, Patriots, Falcons, weeks 14-16. If the offense stays conservative, Lynch will get a lot of carries and dump off passes. If it goes pass heavy, it should open up the lanes for Lynch.

When a 23 point ppr performance is just a hi-hum game for a guy, you know you have a winner. I love that man.
