M Drew or J Norwood? (1 Viewer)

M Drew = D Sproles
Sorry but this comparison which is made quite often just does not hold. Maurice Jones-Drew is 5' and 6 3/4" and 206 lbs with strong legs, great vision, cutting ability and straight line speed

Darren Sproles is 5' 6" and 181 lbs. MJD has him by about an inch and more importantly 25 lbs. Plus, Sproles is just not as talented with respect to natural running ability as MJD.

A better comparison physically is Brian Westbrook or Joe Morris.

I agree, I just like saying M Drew = D Sproles. It's a mental thing I guess. :bag:

:goodposting: Drew is a faster Westbrook - although not as strong... The Sproles comparisons are way off base - if you even think of making this comparison - you have no idea what an NFL RB is... Drew is years ahead of Sproles in term of burst - vision - quickness - balance - ball security - hands - route running...

Only his blocking defecencies (recognition of his assignment and lack of strength to take on a blitzing LB) will keep Drew off the field...

But does any one think that the Falcons will renew the contract of TJ Duckett?

If the let Duckett go their is a good chance Norwood will start next year.

Apparently you didn't read my next post - "I agree, I just like saying M Drew = D Sproles. It's a mental thing I guess. "

I saw - afterwards! :P I was typing like a madman when you must have posted it!

I like them both a lot... but not in 2006.

At least one if not both should be starters in 2007. I'm not convinced Fred Taylor will be a viable option this season, but he should be almost done for sure next year. If Greg Jones was going to take the starting job there, he would have done it by now and the Jags wouldn't have taken Drew so high.

Similar situation in Atlanta. Dunn is a fantastic back, but not getting any younger. I like his chances in 2006 better than Fragile Fred's. Dunn will likely still be around in 2007, but should be ready to pass the torch by then. And again, if Duckett was going to assert himself in the starting role, he would have by now...

Drew = Q Griffin

Almost identical. And Q had better college stats. What's Q up to now?
He has about 10lbs on Griffin. These comparisons are silly. He's built like a truck.

It's all about weight/strength/bulk...& Jones-Drew has enough of those qualities, combined with his outstanding natural running skills, to be a top NFL RB. Being 5'7" won't hurt him at all. What would hurt him is being 5'7"/190 (he's 207).

:lmao: :fishing:
You're either Drew's agent or part of his family. Please tell me you are. Please. If you aren't either, you may be heading for a restraining order at some point in the near future. That's what happens when fans get a little "too close".

Norwood.  Drew is a freakin midget people!
a voice of reason, thank you. :hophead:
NFL's alltime rushing leader = 5'9" 212Drew = 5'7" 206
Puh-lease tell me you aren't comparing Drew to Emmitt Smith. Or even Barry Sanders. I'm sure everyone would say that Barry was a one of a kind back. The guy had rubber ankles and eyes in the back of his head.Drew had an average college career. Sure he had some moves but everyone does in the NFL. I envision Drew as another Dante Hall perhaps...except a little heavier. I think Jacksonville wasted a 2nd round pick. He wasn't even the BPA when they made the pick.

He MAY go on to have a decent NFL career, but history would say otherwise.

So drink the kool-aid if you feel so inclined. But don't say the facts weren't there to warn you.
