Magglio Ordonez: MVP pace (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
Maggs is on fire! Batting close to 350 12 HRs 48 RBIs

I have to admit. I never knew what a great hitter Maggs is. I was watching a program last night about when he was in Chicago. Maggs was a five tool player. The knee injury derailed him for two seasons.

The Tigers have not had a hitter like this in years, if ever.

Mags was a flat out stud with the Sox. Then came the knee injury and he was never the same. It appears he has regained some of that form again, which is bad news for the AL Central.

Ken Harrelson the Sox announcer said that Maggs is one of the best hitters he has ever seen. Plus he stated that Maggs does it when it counts..not when you are up 9-0.When the Tigers signed him I thought it was a mistake. Wow..I was mistaken. The walkoff homer in the ALCS was a classic.

Ordonez was always a great hitter, he simply couldn't stay healthy long enough to put the requisite stats. His history suggests it's a bit premature. Let's see him stay healthy.

As for other candidates, um, have we forgotten about Alex Rodriguez already? The season is still young so with Clemens being added and Hughes coming back, don't count the Yankees out of the Wild Card just yet. His stats are stellar. There's also Vlad and Morneau who'll lay their claims.

Before the knee injury he averaged 156 games a year for those 6 years. He came back too soon from the knee in 2005 and it cost him another 3 months. After that, he's played in virtually every game for the Tigers. All ball players get hurt and Mags knee injury was a serious one that almost cost him his career. Outside of the year to recover from it, he hasn't had a single DL stint.

A little early for MVP talk, but right now he is the hottest hitter in baseball. Another great day today. He looks like he did for so many years with the Sux when he was so dominant.
