Make or break player (1 Viewer)

I have ADP, CJ and Roddy. But the key maybe if Reggie Bush is a decent RB2. Otherwise I will be working the waiver wire overtime trying to get a good RB.

I reached up to get him; Ray Rice.
Yep! I took Rice with the last pick of the 3rd round in a 12 team re-draft.I knew he wouldn't make it back to the last pick of the 5th round and I REALLY think he's primed for a breakout year.

Easily Sjax. I hope to hell im right about him.
Same here. I have some good depth at RB, but if this guy is healthy, he is a championship player IMO.Oh, and Hasselbeck, as I waited on a QB, and it's him or Edwards!

Palmer and Garrard.

Also leaning heavily on Donald Brown, MJD and Chris Henry... and Ray Rice.

But the one true make or break will probably be Palmer.

Strangely, nobody. I have four leagues at various points in the draft from round 6 to round 13, and I have yet to draft the same player twice. There are guys I like and target, but it seems like in one league, they get nabbed early, while in another league somebody else falls so far that I have to take him instead. It's playing out that I have all my pet cats, but only in one league each.

In my PPR money league I've got Brady, MJD, SJax, Bowe. Really hoping Braylon Edwards and John Carlson come through to make my team one to beat.

Reggie Wayne and Leon Washington in 2/3 $ leagues. Also SJax....scared about that one, but he fell to me at the 9 spot. Couldn't pass him up.

Tom Brady

Never took a stud QB early (usually I'm 10th-12th in the league taking one, and make the playoffs nearly every year). No backup; hopefully, I'll figure out who my Week 8 bye QB will be sometime in the next couple months...but no Plan B, so he better hold up.

HOWEVER...I think most folks who have been doing this for awhile can truthfully no one is make or break player. You do this long enough and pretty much everyone has had this kind of thing happen:

lost Javon Walker for the entire 2005 season (#1 WR) but still took the league title

won a Super Bowl in 2006 with a QBBC of rookies Jay Cutler and Vince Young
won a SB with a WW QB (Kurt Warner, 2007)
made the final four in 2008 with Addai and Edwards as the 1st two draft picksASIDE: No repeats; different titles in mulitple leagues

None of those seasons were especially extraordinary, and there were lots of failures and misses mixed in with those gems.

Point being that while in late August/early September we think one or two players hold the key to our season, FF mirrors life in that it often turns out far different than we initially planned. But when you work hard, scour the waiver wire, and make a few savvy trades...things have a way of working out...often with different outcomes than what we predicted, but nonetheless quite pleasant (and profitable).

Don't get discouraged if the linchpin of your season fails. There is often another way you may have previously overlooked.
Interesting. I agree if the guy who you THINK is the lynchpin of your season there is often a way to recover.Last year I drafted Brady round 1 and Braylon Edwards round 2 (never having drafted a QB before round 5 in my life). We all know how that turned out.

Because of my backup, a guy named Rodgers, and a couple of mediocre RB's Deangello Williams and Brandon Jacobs my team turned out just fine.

This year I THINK my team's fate will hinge on my QBBC team of Palmer/Hasselbeck and Frank Gore.

Can't pick one.

Brady - taken in round 3 each time

McFadden - taken in round 4 each time

Steve Smith (Panthers) - taken in round 2 each time

Got them all on multiple teams and all 3 in multiple leagues.

Only drafted in one league so far

I'd have to say McNabb is my make or break player.........followed closely by R Brown.

I got Cutler late so I'm not looking for greatness out of him but I need either Braylon Edwards or Cedric Benson to be a solid flex each week.

Drew Brees and it isn't even close.

He was my big gamble and if he fails my whole team goes down with him. My IDPs are loaded, my WRs are slightly above average - but my rbs are very pedestrian. If Brees lights it up, I am looking at a great year. If Brees fails - I can't cover him up with my mediocre rbs.

washingtonn d, adam vinaterri and phil dawson...

seriously..... i have no idea who i have the most this year. i suppose i can add em up if i want to spend all day with my 25 teams and growing. last year tj houshmenzadah ended up being on the most and since most my teams are dynasty he could well still be on most teams. of the top rb's it was jacobs last year though i traded him in a couple when i realized that. i try to mix it up best i can where there is no clear cut guys i lean on over all. i am thrilled to have reggie bush on 2 or 3 new teams this year. i waited all these years for his value to become reasonable. first time ever he made my draft elgibility with his reasonable adp.

3 keeper league - McFadden

Dynasty PRR IDP - Palmer/Rice

No-bench PPR IDP league - Rice (My only RB... 1RB-1WRs-1WR/RB-1WR/TE-1TE, went Fitzgerald, Calvin, Colston and Witten in the first 4, got Rice in the 13th IIRC)

So, Rice overall

Jason Campbell, got him in 2 money leagues, that start 2QBs, as my QB2 in both. Really could use a breakout season.

Portis to give me one more solid year before falling apart... Slaton/DWill to follow up last years numbers.

Pierre. Got him in 26 of my 31 leagues. Live by the sword die by the sword

If Donovan McNabb doesn't stay healthy and put up solid numbers, then I'm sunk in my local redraft league.

If Carson Palmer can stay healthy and put up solid numbers, then I probably run away with my local dynasty league.

My QB2s are :X

If MJD & R.Moss don't come through they could break me, if Hixon or James Davis put up some numbers for me they could make me.

Tom Brady / Randy Moss again. In most of my leagues I have one or the other, and despite Cassel's success I don't like Moss's prospects if Brady were injured again and I can't see Brady being top 3 if Moss were out.

Others:

Brandon Jacobs, but also in the opposite way as I have Bradshaw in a few leagues

Chris Johnson

Adrian Peterson

my two main money league common playersRodgersHenryHixonGallowayJe Finleybased on where I took them and my draft strategy I would say Henry and Finley.........expecting them to contribute
I'm there with ya "Stinkin". Henry, Hixon, and Finley its a roll of the dice.
