Malcum Floyd (1 Viewer)

6'5" wr on the Chargers has 2 TD's and while he doesn't have many catches,he has the size, ability and his QB bragging about him.....All of this in my opinion adds up to a very good sleeper player on a great team that will have plenty oppurtunities to score.....Floyd and Rivers has serious potential I believe

What do you guys know or think about Mr Floyd?

Too many weapons. In the passing game he is still behind Gates/LT/Parker/McCardel/sometimes VJax. Throw in Marty and you got a guy way too incosistent to count on this season.

I think you should look at this thread Chargers Young Widouts, Floyd and Jackson.

In that thread, I think you should pay particular attention to this post;

Jackson has gotten more playing time than Floyd. Floyd is mostly used in goal line packages, although he's been targeted deep a few times from around mid field as well.

Vincent Jackson has gotten a fair amount of playing time, but Rivers has just flat out missed him a few times when Jackson was open. Against the Titans, Jackson had more than a step on the defender, but Rivers overthrew Jackson deep down the right sideline. Against the Ravens, Jackson would have had a touchdown if Rivers had hit him on that 3rd and 19 play. Rivers also missed Jackson down the right sideline against the Steelers.

McCardell and Parker are the clear #1 and #2 WRs. Jackson may overtake McCardell next year, but for this year his fantasy value is quite limited. He is the #3 WR on a team whose top two receivers are the RB and TE.

But still, Jackson is #3 and Floyd is #4, not vice versa. Floyd has scored two TDs to Jackson's one, but Jackson could easily have another one or two TDs. (Rivers has generally been very accurate this year. He's only missed guys a few times. But it's happened disproportionately often to Jackson. I believe it is coincidence.)

Both guys have long-term potential. They are tall, athletic, have good hands, and can get deep. But they are dynasty prospects rather than redraft prospects, at least for this year.

Thanks(I think) That was a little bit of a Floyd buzz killer  I'll still roll the dice with him this weekend

I know his name is Malcom.

Hope you're wrong,I'm starting him over Joe Horn this week :o
You're starting Floyd over Horn?
Yep,I'm sure most rankings would agree with this but Horn has done nothing for me this year....I play in a TD scoring league so unless a wr gets 100+ yrds recieving you get zero pts

I've gotten the impression that Floyd doesn't even play most of the game - they just stick him in around the goal line because of his size making him a great RZ target. Still not a bad sleeper, but I think he's essentially a role player, and if he doesn't nab a TD, he's a useless start.

What's with your 10 page sig? No one cares about your team.
For real, that sig is a bit much. Shorten it up or something like thisQB: Hasselbeck (Favre)RB: L Johnson, Bell (L Washington, Buckhalter, D Brown, Perry)etcWe can figure out that backups are listed in (parenthesis), and we dont need full first names or NFL teams listed. And we really dont need to see your roster from last year....its so.....last year.

Now that is a great f'n Sig, ctsu. QUOTEA nation that mandates the primacy of one ethnicity or religion over all others will eventually become psychologically dysfunctional. Narcissistically obsessed with its own image, it must strive to maintain its racial superiority at all costs and will inevitably come to view any resistance to this imagined superiority as an existential threat. The way our league is setup with so mch emphasis on TD's thats really all I care about that he's getting goal line looks

The title of this thread makes me uncomfortable.

Malcum...sounds like an adult film star.

All jokes aside the kid has major talent as a red zone target and he could be the gem the Chargers are looking for. Parker has good hands..McCardell is old but I guess you keep him around. VJax is really unpolished. Gates, Parker and Floyd should be on the field at all times...the Chargers offense could get really explosive really quick if it wants. I like what Rivers is doing and I am starting to become a fan of his.

Exactly,I'm mainly talking about him as Rivers TD target....Chemistry is EVERYTHING between QB and WR and if Rivers/Floyd develops that chemistry then Rivers will be looking his way no matter which other WR is in there....Hey,I could be wrong about this guy but I just know that he's available probably in every league and if you need WR help he might(hopefully) help us out with some TD catches

Floyd's looked better than I expected this year, but the enthusiasm in this thread seems a bit higher than I think merited. Floyd's first TD came on a busted coverage where the safety fell down and Floyd litterally walked into the endzone, it was one of 2 total targets that week. His td this week was a result of an excellent audible on Rivers's part as he recogized the mismatch Floyd had against the much smaller DB. He's had 8 total targets this year, although 4 did happen last week.

He's a 5th year receiver who's spent most of his time on the practice squad. I'm not saying it's impossible for him to suddenly become very productive but I think it's not so likely. As I've said he's definitely taken his game up a notch this year.

I still think Jackson is the long term starter and potential stud of the two.

I have no problem with the sig, Im always interested in who people have and who they are starting. As for Mr. Floyd, I think he made one hell of a catch the other day, however he will not get enough targets to make an impact this year with the chargers. They are a run first team, a run second team, and then maybe pass. Look at the steelers two years ago to see stats that will probably be compiled via the air....they will end up to be very similar.

The Chargers recently worked out free agent receivers Peter Warrick, formerly of the Seahawks, and Eddie Berlin, formerly of the Patriots.

Vincent Jackson has been a disappointment and lost the third receiver role to Malcolm Floyd. San Diego could use some depth at the position. Source: chargers.scout.com

I have him, and I'd like to start him against the 49ers who couldn't cover a high school wideout, but I'm not sold just yet with Javon Walker, Chambers, (Santana) Moss, Bernard Berrian and Hines Ward - among others - as my receivers.

nice group of recievers you have The Jacket  ....Even though Malcum may be listed as the #3 WR I believe that him and Rivers have something special going once in the red zone

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a Bernard Berrian-like rise, and I'll be all over it if he does.As for my receivers, I like them, but my RBs aren't too hot. I traded to get Tatum Bell and Javon Walker -- both risks -- pre-season, and it's paying off. Mostly notably because Cadillac Williams was the primary guy I got rid of.

Irish Reds / Newcastle Ales Trade * Irish Reds gave up Barlow, Kevan NYJ RB;Williams, Carnell TBB RB; Year 2006 Draft Pick 1.14 * Newcastle Ales gave up Bell, Tatum DEN RB;Walker, Javon DEN WR; Year 2006 Draft Pick 2.05; Year 2007 Round 3 Draft Pick from Newcastle Ales Thu Jul 6 10:44:00 p.m. ET 2006
2. Newcastle Ales / Irish Reds Trade * Newcastle Ales gave up Bears, Chicago CHI Def; Year 2006 Draft Pick 2.08 * Irish Reds gave up Colts, Indianapolis IND Def; Year 2006 Draft Pick 2.05 Mon Jul 10 12:35:08 p.m. ET 2006
I love those offseason trades. :)

If Floyd catches another TD this weekend he'll be in my starting lineup EVERY week from here on out
I wouldn't go this far and state that I would start him every week. However, I will pick him up if scores again this week. I am also in a td heavy league that gives no points per reception and only 1 pt. per 25 yards receiving. He could be a nice sleeper and should be available on most all waiver wires. I'll be watching :banned:

Floyd could be starting to break-out right now. McCardell is getting up there (36) & not an every down guy. Parker is a great possession receiver. Jackson still isn't quite there yet. Gates is seein' a lot of double coverage.

If you have dynasty roster room, I'd say now is a good time to grab him up for next year.

Mine's better.I picked up Flloyd in a very deep dynasty league, but I don't know anything about him, nor have I read any articles about him.Did I read that someone started him over Joe Horn? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
