Man, it really is Duke + the Refs... (1 Viewer)

I'm wondering why Duke got 2 free throws after the fracas? I am stuck watching the ACC feed, so no one really explained it.

Double technical called, both teams shot 2 technical free throws...Both teams went 1-2 from the stripe...Thought that was the right call...

it's a shame I keep having to turn this game out, thanks to Vitale. I don't want to have to watch the end of it on mute, but that's my only choice. I know he loves Duke, but it is seriously so annoying listening to him constantly.

Is Coach K the ONLY coach who will console a couple of kids on the losing team? Judging by the commentators I keep hearing, I guess he is the only class act in college bb.

The biggest missed call was the non-goaltending on Williams. Just a headscratcher.

BC is going to be a VERY tough out in the NCAA.

and Dickie V. Damn that guy is annoying.
Mike Patrick has become just as bad, IMO.Thank Christ we won't have to hear them at all during the NCAA's.
No...but we WILL have to listen to Billy Packer, which is just as bad IMO.
Different strokes for different folks. Packer has cranky-### for sure, but I think he provides some insight into the game, and doesn't just blubber all over himself like an idiot. Vitale has become a walking punchline, you know it's bad when even Duke fans can't stomach him anymore.I will miss the Raftery/Bilas team, however. I like Bilas more and more every year: Excellent insight, argues his points well (he took apart Joe Lunardi yesterday on College Gameday), and he obviously does his homework. And he doesn't have the blatant bias that Vitale does, despite the fact that he actually went to Duke.

And who doesn't like "Kansas comes out in.....MANTOMAN!" Or "ONIONS!" Raftery at the top of the heap in terms of sportscaster shtick, IMO.

I don't get this thread. The refs let the teams play very physical which is more to BC's style than Duke's style. Why are all the Duke haters getting so worked up anyway? They won't win it all so you will get your wish soon enough.

My sleeper team to get to the final four depending upon brackets.

In the Duke/WF semifinal there was one of the worst calls I've ever seen.

Reddick has the ball, he totally shuffles his feet before driving to the rim. The ball gets slapped out of his hands as he goes up(if anything there could've been a foul called there). The ball bounces right back to Reddick though and hes now wide open for a layup...he shoots the layup literally without anyone within a foot of him. He makes it, and they call a foul and give him a 3pt play. I was shocked.

They very well could be there. Only free throw shooting keeps them from being an elite team. They've got everything else.

Umm, :hey: . It's like listening to Snaggle####.

The only time a call is missed is when it should be against Duke, right?

The Duke Haters are just full of crap...they come running to this board to post any and every little thing they can to chip away at Duke, their fans, their conference, their players, their coach...it's just sad really...especially when they're proven wrong every time they try to start in with the "Duke bias" nonsense...

you cant possibly defend that call. Im a duke fan, and i was laughing my head off. nobody touched him.

The radio guys for BC were screaming the whole second half about the calls going for Duke. From what I could see, (ESPN blacked out locally), BC was allowed a lot of latitude during the game (grabbing shirts, bumping Redick coming off picks, etc.) that they were letting both teams play.

If they had called the game tighter, Duke would have won big. If they had called it looser, they would have lost control. All in all, a very good game to watch, but Duke deserved to win that game.

If some of the folks would take their blinders off, they would see that Duke runs a front running team, without NCAA problems, good grades, and a classy coach year in and year out. I wish BC would do that.

At least we get Rafferty on CBS. I like Verne Lundquist and him on the same team. Raff is a personal fav - I hope he gets the Philadelphia site for the first round.

as much as i wanted to hate Jay Bilas i just can't. guy is very good at what he does. and Raftery is my #2 behind Clark Kellogg.

Right. Duke is squeaky clean, with only top student athletes. Corey Maggette and Chris Duhon notwithstanding. Fact that their scholarship men's basketball players enter Duke with SAT scores an average of approximately 400 below Duke's average incoming SAT score notwithstanding. Sorry, Duke isn't any cleaner than any other major college hoops program.

Coach K should watch tape of how All Skinner handles himself on the sidelines during a game. He is the epitome of class, Coach K the epitome of crass. As for the officiating in that game from a BC fan's perspective, no real complaints for the first 35 minutes but it all went Duke's way in the final 5: the non-goaltending call, and no calls on Smith (reach in by McRoberts before the shot) and Dudley (hammered by Williams witht the body while shooting) underneath, while Williams went to the line on the other end with little or no contact.

That said, I did not feel robbed as I did when they played in Chestnut Hill. The "got robbed" feeling came later when BC got a 4 seed and has to fly across the country to play an early Thursday game after such a grueling weekend that should have earned them a better draw.

In two games decided by 4 points between Duke and BC this year, Duke shot 62 free throws to BC's 30.

And BC's entire game is in the paint.

And can ANYONE explain how UNC ends up a higher seed than BC even though Boston College beat them TWICE in the state of North Carolina????

As if there was any doubt after the possession arrow incident last week against MD? You always know there's going to be ridiculous over-home-cooking by the refs down there, but it's gotten out of hand. How anybody who did not attend Duke can be a Duke fan is beyond me and it is the lamest fan affiliation there is. I have more respect for the bandwagon idiots who have a new team every two years according to who is best.
