Manny and Polanco for Kendrick and Jacob McGee (1 Viewer)

Reality Football

Footballguy
Owner is offering me Manny Ramirez and Placido Polanco for Howie Kendrick and TB prospect lefty Jacob McGee.

Caveats:

1) We're a keeper auction league with multi-year contracts.

2) But neither Manny nor Polanco have contracts past this year.

3) I still have the rights to Kendrick in 2008 at a super-reduced price because he came up in my system. And when he hits free agency before 2009, I have the rights to match the highest offer in the auction and thus keep him indefinitely.

4) I'll have the rights to McGee for three whole seasons at next to nothing when he arrives in the majors, and he is looking very good in the minors.

5) The owner making the offer is looking to rebuild as he is in last. I am in 3rd, and need help in AVG and RBI.

6) The teams I'm trying to overtake are really strong. So while it is clear that Manny could really help me and Polanco would be a more than adequate replacement, Kendrick and McGee are blue-chippers that I worry about surrendering. This is especially so if Manny doesn't act like Manny, performance-wise, from here on out in 2007.

Really depends how much it helps you. I wouldn't give Kendrick just to finish 3rd or even 2nd but if you think this deal makes you the front runner to win then I'd do it.

Sounds like you already think your chances are iffy if you do the deal so I think I'd pass as crazy as it may sound given the deal. But in keeper leagues I'm much more cautious about giving up great contracts even if the deal appears to be a slam dunk like this one.

I think you're overvaluing Kendrick and McGee.

As far as high profile pitching prospects go, they are a dime a dozen and about 1 in 5 really flourish. I always go for the win this year, and let subsequent years take care of themselves.

McGee looks like the real deal, but he might not be up till 2009, if then. I think you could do better.

edit: Guess you're on the other side of the trade. Do it.
