Marijuanaguys and the Presidential Election (1 Viewer)

The biggest mess in Colorado is that it's all cash and the banks claim they can't take dirty money because of the feds. At least fix that so States deciding to legalize it can handle the transactions like a normal business.

And screw Rubio and Christie.

The GOP's constituency is way more old people than young people. Old people don't want to see marijuana legalized.
I don't know if you're young or just naive but us old guys don't really give a #### what you do. You act like none of us ever smoked or drank or anything else. Do you really need it legalized? We didn't. What you'll find, as you get older, is that we don't care about anything but our family or our money. Maybe that's what makes us a Republican. You can do anything you want as long as you don't #### with that. You'll get there. Just give it some time.

If you only care about your family and your money, why wouldn't you want marijuana to be legalized? It'll make other people happy and won't hurt you or your money.

You didn't get it. I don't care. Most of us don't. I thought my first sentence would covey that thought. The fact that you think you need it needs to be legal is what confuses me.

This is why the whole state by state approach is bull####

So people won't get arrested for smoking it? Just guessing here.

I live in Iowa and the only way it will ever be legal here is if the feds legalize it. This state is so ####### backwards I'm surprised we aren't still traveling by horse and buggy.

Minnesota is like this. Normally liberal, but a Polyanna kind of liberal. I'm pulling for Wisconsin, the Dakotas or Illinois. I can road trip easily to those states.

I'm a bit conflicted with that but I would rather a candidate stick to their opinion, outdated as it may be, than give in to something they don't believe in just to collect tax revenue
What?

"I'd rather have him stick to his outdated position on slavery than give in to abolition, just to collect tax revenue."

Meh. It will happen soon enough. It's only a misdemeanor to have up to almost 2 ounces on you. Seems to be a very low priority to any cop I have ever talked to.

It's a very, very small sample size (4), but every cop I know smokes at least on occasion.

If you want to smoke you can feel free to move to CO, CA, WA, planning a road trip to CO pretty soon to enjoy the coffee shops. I have no idea if you can just roll in and roll up but it sounds fun. As long as there are legal places within the States I'm fine. But the reality is the GOP seems anti-smoke so that's not good and the DNC is in bed with the drug companies as well. Neither party is really that cool.

I live in NJ. A former co-worker of mine has a serious medical issue with lots of pain and has been on many prescriptions. I asked her once if she every asked her doctor about medical marijuana. She had but the doctor wasn't licensed to prescribe it. The doctor would have to refer her to a doctor who could if she wanted to try it. Or the doc told her to just go buy it on the street - seriously, no one cares. Doc's words.

Obviously an exaggeration by the doctor but it shows just much the attitudes have changed.

I agree on the stigma and police aspect, but it doesn't change the fact that I can't walk into a nice pot botique and choose from a nice variety of strains and untold numbers of edibles.I have to rely on my wife's shady uncle to score some ####ty Mixipack ditchweed that has more beaners than a tortilla factory.

Exactly. Each strain of cannabis is so different in its effects and its medical uses. Buying cannabis of unknown origins and lineage off the streets is no substitute for walking into a dispensary where you can select from dozens of different strains that have different percentages of sativa or indica lineage and vastly different levels of cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN, etc.).

Donald Trump
Donald Trump’s position is almost as incoherent as Kasich’s. The only real difference is that Trump is moving from the opposite direction on the issue. Back in the 1990s, Trump was in favor of legalizing all drugs. Now that he’s running for president, he’s against marijuana. At least, recreational marijuana. Maybe. Or maybe not. Here is Trump refusing to take Bill O’Reilly’s bait (O’Reilly’s position is that medical benefits of marijuana don’t exist) from an article in High Times magazine:

Trump, speaking to Bill O’Reilly on Fox News this week, was asked about his position on marijuana legalization in Colorado. After expressing some concern over the health effects of marijuana, he was pressed by O’Reilly about what he would do to stop it. Trump then confessed that “I would, I would really want to think about that one Bill, because in some ways, I think it’s good and in other ways, it’s bad.”

Until old Republicans are dead?

Only 17% of Republicans born in 1945 or before support legalizing marijuana.
