Mark Herzlich (NYG MLB) Could be an LB2 if he plays some nickel (1 Viewer)

I was worried with the news that Desmond Bishop might go to the Giants. Now that he isn't. Herzlich got a lot of snaps as the 1st Team MLB. If he gets some nickel snaps could you see LB2 Floor with him or not? Or where do you see him? I don't see a lot of competition for snaps there.

I've been hedging more towards Dan Connor taking the spot eventually. He's been productive when given opportunities. He struggled a little bit last year but I think it was more because of the transition to a 3-4. Now he is back to a 4-3 with the Giants and he was wine and dined by a host of teams during FA. He probably chose the Giants for multiple reasons...chance to play for a championship, back to a 4-3 defense, and a legit chance to start.

Probably not going to effect him much

Giants LB Dan Connor was arrested Saturday for possession of an offensive weapon at the Philadelphia International Airport.
Connor had a switchblade in his luggage while attempting to enter the airport terminal. He was released on his own recognizance and is not expected to face any discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

The Giants are looking for leadership and production out of their middle linebacker spot this season. During their championship seasons they relied on the likes of gamers such as Antonio Pierce and Chase Blackburn.

This year, they will be relying on one of three players to wear the headset:

Mark Herzlich, whose well-documented battle back from cancer makes him a sentimental favorite.

Dan Connor, a serviceable player that is on his third team and is widely considered a borderline NFL starter.

Aaron Curry, an oft-injured former No. 4 overall draft pick that has not lived up to expectations and has not played much ILB in his career.

Currently, the job is Herzlich’s to lose. He appears ready to assume the role and no one in this league has worked harder. Training camp will determine if all that hard work has paid off.

It would be awesome if he wins the spot. One can not help but root for him.
