Mark Ingram (4 Viewers)

Oh that sucks. Been one of my favorites since Bama and was so happy seeing him finally doing what I always knew he could.

Been a terrible second half of season for me.

Toss a coin on the replacement for him.

Spiller hasn't seen more than 8 carries all season and Hightower has 1 carry the last 2 weeks.

Since Robinson went down in Week 8 against the Giants (4 games), Spiller has 6 catches for 20yds and 11 carries for 30 yards. I don't know how much you can trust Spiller.

Hightower or Spiller from here on out?
i see ingram played 52 snaps, spiller had 5 hightower had 3 last week. Would they really bump hightower over spiller as lead back? wasnt he picked up off the street mid season?
When Ingram originally got hurt against the Skins in Week 10, Hightower had 11 carries to Spiller's 8. Believe that was Hightower's first game back too. Hightower was with the Saints in the preseason.

Yeah, when Ingram went down in week 10..

Hightower - 28% of the snaps - 11/46/0

Spiller - 32% of the snaps - 8/24/0 (2 catches for 10 yards)

They had a week 11 bye, Hightower wasn't active in week 12 and last week they both saw something like 5% of the snaps.

I suppose you're supposed to view Hightower as Khiry Robinson here, and in the event Ingram went down in the past Khiry would have been the preferred pick-up. Still I don't see how you can realistically lean on either right now when it matter unless your depth behind Ingram is non-existent.

Still need to wait for official word, but I sure hope this helps Brees rather than hurts him (for FF purposes that is)

I don't think this helps Brees at all from a fantasy standpoint. He now has one less weapon to help move the ball down field (a weapon who happens to catch passes).

Ingram has been severely underrated in the passing game this year. He has 50 catches. Cooks has 61. Ben Watson has 54. Not sure how losing your 3rd best receiver would help a QB.

The answer between Hightower and Spiller as it pertains to the playoffs is likely "neither" but if I were forced I'd grab Spiller and hope the lights turn on. He's a dunce though, he's been running the wrong routes for 13 weeks.
Thats my thoughts. Ive rostered/traded/traded for/cut Spiller multiple times in both of my leagues. Someone just picked him up in one and I think he's out there in another. I can't do it. I understand someone rolling the dice there though. I guess Hightower too.

This news works in my favor, particularly in one league where I'm the #2 seed and its a big blow to the #3. I actually feel bad for Ingram owners in general though. Really really misfortunate.

Hightower has 4.8 points in my league right now. It's hard to make a move for him without official word on Ingram. I'm gonna sit tight with my handcuff of Spiller and hope this is BS. Ingram is the best "healthy" player on my roster at the moment.

You're right, I hope this "doesn't hurt" Brees' value

Of course I just checked and he's going at about 1000 adds a minute right now. Sheesh. Who do you drop for a player with 4.8 season total points?

I'm standing pat in the hopes this news is blown out of proportion and that, if he misses any time, it's just this week. There's no one, even on my rapidly sucky RB corps, that I would drop for Tim ####### Hightower.

But why wouldn't it hurt his value? Again, you're taking one of his top weapons away from him. Unlike the situation in Pittsburgh, it doesn't seem like there is a talented backup. I see a lot more 3 and outs and mistakes by Brees trying to force the ball a little more.

Total shirt moment, but the 2 leagues I have Ingram in, I'm in the playoffs and have byes this week. So if they need to take a week to rest him up, I'm totally okay with that.

Because Spiller, or even a committee of him and Hightower are capable backups IMO. Brees could even give you an additional pass TD or two. We aren't talking about guys like Alfred Blue here

Sounds like Brees is inferring Ingram is done. He also said Hightower and Murphy will split snaps with Spiller.

Just looked on CBS and Hightower is owned in 0% of leagues. Guess I have to drop my TE2 Gates for him because #### me, that's why.

Well this will be question. Are they capable backups at this stage of their careers?

The only reason I felt comfortable drafting Ingram was because I knew I could handcuff Robinson at end of draft, which didn't work out. I let my guard down with thinking Ingram would stay healthy.

Spiller has barely been used all season. I think most thought once Robinson went down, Spiller would be more involved. He hasn't seen more than 10 touches in a game all season and the most he saw since Robinson went down was 10 and that's the game Ingram originally got hurt in back in Week 10. Since the bye week, Spiller has a whopping 4 touches the last 2 weeks. Now suddenly he's going to get things figured out and take off? I don't buy it.

Before everyone runs to the WW, it's worth pointing out that the Saints playoff schedule consists of two very good run Ds (Detroit, TB) and one decent one (Jax).

I'll probably try to grab Hightower even if I don't think I'll need him, just in case (a) he looks decent and (b) I get hit with more RB injuries. I'm pretty sure my 3rd TE isn't going to do me much good at this point.

Eff me. One of my playoff bound teams has lost the following this season:

Arian Foster

Lance Dunbar/Joseph Randle

Steve Smith

Juluan Edelman

Not to mention Dez and Gronk on the ropes.

I'd easily grab Spiller before Hightower at this point.

If I had the choice or the need.

And ftr I was very pro-Ingram as it being his show and on point saying Spiller wasn't going to hurt him when acquired. ;)

Even if Spiller was available in my league, I would rather someone else pick him up and take the gamble on him. In other words, I see him as benefitting me more if he's on someone else's team instead of mine.

Because regardless of record, its not like every single RB that ever plays with Brees puts up solid fantasy points? :bag:

That's what I said about Droughns in the leagues where I own Hyde. I know it's been a while but he was fairly productive with AZ in a similar type offense. In addition, he has NO mileage on him from the past couple years.

I kind of agree. Seems like if Ingram is out brees will just throw it 50+ times. Spiller will have to do a lot with his 6-8 carries or catch a lot of passes.
