Maroney OUT vs Cincy (1 Viewer)

I would encourage people to take this at face value and not some ploy by Belichick. My source close to the team has informed me that Maroney playing or not playing will be a game time decision based on how he looks/feels/moves in practice.
David, thanks for the intel. What is your take on the fact that Faulk was kept out of practice as a "team decision" earlier in the week? While I am biased towards believing the superficial story (Maroney is nursing a groin pull), nuggets like this make we wonder....
IIRC, the new injury rules require that players that miss practice appear on the injury report. Faulk was listed as probable to begin with and no longer appears on the injury report at all.In Faulk's case, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't play tonight and I don't know what the "team decision" involved. I doubt I'll be able to find out much more about Faulk's absence from the other day any time soon . . .

ESPN reported a few minutes ago that Maroney is still gametime but is likely to play FWIW.

Edit: Beat to the punch, should have refreshed...

I would be pretty surprised to see him get 125 yards and 2 TDs like some are talking in the various Maroney threads . . .
Interesting. Here's my take: I view the Bengals as miserably soft against the run, and even if Maroney gets 10-12 carries, I thinks he's a safe bet for 100+ yards and one score. The other thing about tonight is that I expect him to have quite a few receptions. BB has CIN completely unprepared for what Maroney and B Watson will do tonight. Expect 200+ yards and 3 TD's between them.

So Maroney, who is so banged up that he almost didn't make the trip and is a GTD, is a safe bet to get 100+1 on only 10-12 carries (that he'll be lucky to get in the 1st place).Okey dokey.

OK Maroney/Watson Owner.
Me too and I feel your pain. I am watching the game tonight with the guy I am playing this week and I hold a narrow lead He has Palmer so it probably won't matter who I play because he will likely outscore both combined but it would be nice to at least have someone in the game for me while we watch. I still have Maroney in the lineup because I love his matchup but at least Watson is certain to play.Sometimes I hate FF...

Thanks for all the updates. Any word on stallworth. I have Maroney, Stallworth and Morris and need to start 2

This is eerily like the Chester Taylor will start stuff Chidress was spewing. If I had both, I'd start Morris for sure. Unfortunatley for me, I have Maroney, and am stuck with the decision I made yesterday. I expect Morris to get 75% of the touches tonight.

Thought I just heard the reporter detailing the Pats for Monday Night Countdown, say he's been declared Inactive for tonights game.

Straight from rotoworld:ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports Laurence Maroney will start Monday night.Sammy Morris will come off the bench, and continue to be a threat for goal-line carries. Maroney remains an excellent play in the matchup against a Bengals defense that will likely be without its two top middle linebackers (Ahmad Brooks and Caleb Miller) and was already porous defending the run.clowns, WTF?

My boss just called me from his car and I could hear on the radio they were saying Maroney was just deactivated for the game. I have no idea what station he is listening to.

take Sammy Mo over 50.5 yds rushing on bodog before they take it down.

i'm already in for $500, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ugh. Crap I just realized that if I try and pick someone up on yahoo it won't let me play them until week 5. Fantastic.

Per the Boston Globe . . .

QB Matt Gutierrez (3rd quarterback)

WR Kelley Washington

RB Laurence Maroney

G Stephen Neal

OT/TE Ryan O'Callaghan

The Patriots also announced that they have cut LB Corey Mays and signed RB Kyle Eckel off the practice squad.

You and me both...I tried to pick up Watson and thought I could drop a player on a bye week. But no soup for me. Lovely. This is going to cost me a win.

Also from the Globe . . .

Bengals inactives

The following players are inactive for the Bengals tonight:

QB Jeff Rowe (third quarterback)

RB Rudi Johnson

S Ethan Kilmer

LB Ahmad Brooks

LB Caleb Miller

C Dan Santucci

WR Tab Perry

LB Rashad Jeanty

The Bengals announced that Andrew Whitworth at left guard in place of Stacy Andrews; Alex Stapanovich will start at center in place of Eric Ghiaciuc; Kenny Watson will start at running back for Rudi Johnson; Lemar Marshall will start at strongside linebacker for Rashad Jeanty, and Anthony Schlegel will start at middle linebacker in place of Ahmad Brooks.

Id have to think this makes Kevin Faulk a slight factor tonite. Morris will probably get the bulk of the carries, but Id bet a Tom Brady rookie card that theyll be pass happy tonite.

oh well... wasted a roster spot in my line up... this is why I plug in both guys... hope Sammy gets 30 carries.

This is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! I drafted Maroney, Rudi, and Andre Jo. I got hurt so bad this week!!!!!! Lineups had to be in saturday. I started Dwayne Bowe and Morris!!!!!!

Damn Pats its not like we did not see this coming. I am just happy I am not playing the guy with Brady.

ESPN misses another one . . .

it's just comical at this point . . .

why even bother tuning in until gametime???

I'm really kicking myself in the ### for not penciling in Morris for my "flex" this week. It's becoming apparent that Morris is worthy of a start (as a flex/bye week filler) no matter what Maroney's status is. Who woulda thunk??

I think youre looking at 70yds and 2 scores tonite from Sammy. Ive got a feeling the Pats are scoring 5 or 6 TDs tonite, and I can see Morris capitalizing on a chance to shine on Monday night. Good luck.

Morris should have a good game, Pats should wanna run it more than usual to keep the ball away from the Bengals offense
