Maroney=Real Deal (1 Viewer)

Disclaimer: I'm a Pats homer & own LoMo in both my leagues, but just wanted to relay for those who didn't see the game, Maroney is the real deal. He just looks special when he touches the ball. Simply put he has "It."

If Dillon goes down for any period of time, he will dominate. Right now, he makes a great RB3. He'll put up stats for you in a bye week injury pinch, and has amazing upside.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see the ratio slowly shift toward LM as the season progresses, even if Dillon is healthy.

I agree he's the real deal, but I don't agree that the "ratio will ####" if Dillon remains healthy. One of the things no one has really talked about is that Dillon himself looked REALLY good. I think the three-headed monster of Dillon, Maroney, and Faulk on 3rd downs (did you see that catch??? Awesome), is the best thing the Patriots have going for them on offense.

The lack of a WR threat who could get open on the outside parts of the field was quite obvious today, I thought. I'm meandering, aren't I.

Anyway - as a Patriots fan, I love what they have going, but as a fantasy player, it terrifies me. There wasn't even a discernable pattern as to what part of the field the switch was made - Maroney got some carries inside the 5 today.

I thought Dillon looked better than last year, but still not nearly as good as he did in 04. I'm not sure that RB exists anymore.

I just think as the season moves along, its going to become more and more apparent that Maroney is by far the best back on the team and that fact alone is going to command more playing time.

Dillon's recent quotes last week indicating that he doesn't even care if he touches the ball as long as the team wins seems to just be laying the groundwork.

It's great for the real NE Pats, it sucks for anyone who owns a Pat other than Brady. It looks to be a RBBC like that all year, barring injury to one of the guys, not a great situation for us.

I'm a Dillon owner, and was very impressed with Maroney. That being said, I really liked what I saw from CD as well. I still think by the looks of the types of plays they ran that CD will get all the goal line carries. 100 yard games from either will be rare..

I think it is good news for maroney owners that he got more carries then dillon week 1. I was not expecting that. Dillon looked ok, so barring injury, Dillon will probably always get carries, but Maroney should be a legit #2 by week 8. Maroney is a weapon and Dillon is just a plodder at this point. Can't tell if dillon will be the full time goaline back however.

"Barring injury" is accurate, but I drafted Maroney in particular for the upside if CD goes down with an injury, or is slowed by one.

And while no one can predict injuries with accuracy, I think the odds of CD being slowed by an injury are much greater than average.

And I like where Maroney will be if that happens.

there was a reason Billicek drafted him .......... did anyone think maroney would = bust ?
i would of taken Maroney over Bush and Williams imo. course people may laugh at that but he just has the right proto-type size/skill for an NFL back with a 1cut and run mentality that moves chains as a workhorse type back. he's got that exceptional speed as well so no it doesnt surprise me that hes this good. Shanahan stated he was the best RB in the draft as well and would of drafted him if not for Cutler.

What do you think his value is in a trade WR wise right now? I've got LT and LJ already as my starters but my WR are pretty weak. Or should I hold and hope his value increases even more?

Yep, totally agree. Been saying it for a while now...Maroney = special :yes: If LM can stay healthy, Dillon will be the back up come fantasy playoff time.
