Maroney (1 Viewer)

The Maroney owner in my league has been trying to trade him to me all week but I did not pull the trigger. He has AWESOME matchups in weeks 15 and 16 (MIA and NYJ) but I'm afraid New England is going to have everything locked up and done by that time so while they still may play Brady (he never gets freaking hit anyway) for most of those games ..... I doubt they'll be pounding Maroney 20 times a game and having him take abuse for no reason before the playoffs. It is not like he has been the model of durability his first two NFL seasons.

If New Engalnd didn't have home field locked (like they will) then I'd be actively pursuing Maroney. Since they do .... avoid at all costs is my advice. I think he'll be lucky to see 14 carries per game come the final 3 weeks of the season. With home field locked up .... they'll want him healthy for the playoffs.

unless they have a chance at a perfect season...

i rolled the dice. i desperately needed a rb. so i traded santanio holmes for him. Hoping he does something. However considering i was previously starting foster, either way its a step up!

HUGE game for Maroney tomorrow. mini-coming out party. I'm expecting 30 carries well over 100 yards , and multi tds.

they've treated him lightly last few weeks, with the bye behind them, he's going to turn into a MAJOR weapon the remainder of the season..

Frustrated Maroney owner checking in.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but I have a theory:

- Yes, the Pats have the best passing offense in the league.

- Yes, Brady is shooting for the TD record.

But...

I think the Pats will want to see what they have in Maroney. While there is no way they will grind him into the ground, I do think that they will be giving the rock to Maroney more and more. As the cold weather approaches and the Pats gear up for the playoffs, I think LM will get more work as the season progresses. No way does LM ever get 30 carries in this offense, but I think it's reasonable to speculate that he will produce a few 100 yard combined games along with 4 or 5 breakaway TDs.

I don't understand all this "saving" Maroney talk. They were saving him for later in the season, then they save him for playoffs, in playoffs will they save him for Superbowl? Then save him again for next season and beyond??? I just don't think he's a top option in their game plan. Patriots will not pass the ball the whole year then start running it alot more come playoffs.

No. Thought he was going to have a huge game after the early TD but what happened?? Faulk left the game and I thought he would take his role too. But ....nothing. Injured himself I guess. There has been no word.

The boy can't beat out Evans and Eckel or Seau it looks like...

Maroney injured

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 18, 07 10:23 PM

The Patriots announced that RB Laurence Maroney has a foot injury. His return is probable.

Laurence Maroney is sidelined with a foot injury.

The Patriots say he is probable to return, but he has not played in the second half. With the game well in hand and Kevin Faulk already out with a head injury, the Pats are likely just being cautious. Heath Evans and Kyle Eckel are getting the carries for the Pats.

I can't decide if this foot injury is good news - because otherwise it would be confusing that he didn't get more than 6 carries - or if it's terrible news because it just reinforces that this guy can't stay healthy. I'm leaning toward the latter. Maroney is hitting my bench the rest of the year, even though Benson is my only other option.

I think the problem is that Maroney's injuries will linger this year. I think the Pats were babying him early on because of the shoulder, but then they've kept up that approach because of his other injuries too (groin and now foot). Plus, why rush him back when you outscore every opponent by 30 points in the first half. Seriously, if the Pats needed him we might see more. Tied into this too is the fact that Brady is pushing for the TD record. That and no defense seems to be able to stop the passing attack.

All told, this season is a wash and as an owner I'm not counting on Maroney to be anything more than a #3 RB from here on out. In my dynasty league, I'm more than happy to chaulk this up as a season killed by injuries. There's no point in trading him now because you'd be selling low. But it is clear that he's got the injury prone label until he proves otherwise.
