Marshawn Lynch is APPEALING his suspension? (1 Viewer)

Appealing is such a joke. What's his defense? Peters had it coming? Referee brutality? Oh maybe it was a misunderstanding and he was trying to do a "straight outta Compton" act for the crowd with that sideline run.

Let's be honest, he really ran out cuz he wanted to go home and this was the least expensive fine. If anybody knows about fines, it's Lynch.
He didn't go home. He watched the game in the stands.

What a crock. What possible motivation (let alone proof) would there be that Lynch wanted to go home/get out of the lineup. Ridiculous statement.

Also ridiculous and interesting to me is that while there is so much consternation and pushback about Lynch appealing an action that literally had zero impact on, well, anything or anybody, there seems to be zero consternation about Zeke being able to continually appeal and skate from implications of actions that did have an impact on someone (i.e. alleged domestic abuse).
It was a joke jeez. And the main differences with Zeke's appeals vs. Lynch's are A. Lynch's appeal is pointless because his actions were intentional and broadcast on national television, B. People are utterly exhausted by Zeke's situation, and C. Zeke is playing good ball and Lynch isn't.

For the record, those last 2 are also a joke, a sad one. I think it is absurd that he appeals over and over again here. I tend to be of the opinion that where there is smoke, there is fire and his situation guilt in the domestic violence case always felt like that to me. In any case, like with Brady and deflate-gate, if you keep this going long enough and keep playing well, people eventually will vilify the NFL for not letting it go. That situation is so tiring.

You are way off. They are completely different issues.  Everyone can see the video of Lynch running onto the field and accosting a ref. I am surprised it was only a 1 game suspension for this thug move.  If Richard or Washington are just average this week I would be shocked if Lynch ever gets more carries than they do moving forward.

That they are completely different issues is actually the point, as is the severity/impact of them. On one hand, you have an infraction of the rules by leaving the sidelines, and making contact with a ref. Stupid? Yes. Malicious and with intent to do harm? I don't think you could convince anyone that that was the case here.

On the other side, you have domestic abuse allegations that were corroborated by dozens of witnesses pertaining to multiple instances of physical violence against a woman.

Can you tell me again which is the more "thug move" here?

The point that people are deriding Lynch over appealing a meaningless and harmless game infraction yet seemingly ok with the laissez faire attitude over the dragging of the feet on enforcing Zeke's suspension is downright strange to me given the disparate impact of what led to these suspensions in the first place.

Wow you are way off base and making huge assumptions.  Yes - I think it is ridiculouse for Lynch to appeal his suspenion. It was a stupid move and he should be punished and everyone knows he should be punished.  We all saw the video and him abuse an official.

I never brought up Elliot and this isnt an Elliot thread.  The NFL has suspended Elliot and is doing their best to keep him out of games.  Elliot went outside of the NFL and has won legal challenges that have forced the NFL to allow him to play him.  Who at the NFL is dragging their feet?   How can they enforce the suspension without running into trouble with the justice system?  Elliot has challenged the suspension and we have a system that holds people are innocent until proven guilty.  Elliot's case will reach a conclusion at some point and he will be suspended or he wont be, but to say the NFL is dragging their feet or that people are ok with that is completely off base.

Lol. Lynch will be the goal line back and starter in a committee rest of season.

I think Lynch is the starter only as the figurehead or a team mascot moving forward.  Lynch fits the role the Oakland Raiders want to offer to their fan base of being for upholding the Raider image when in reality he is probably the 3rd best running back on the roster right now.

You would be seriously hard pressed to show in any way that he "abused" an official. He came off the bench (stupid) to enter a scrum (moronic) and in the heat of the moment used his forearm to give the ref a shove at the same time as nearly immediately used his left hand to snatch at the ref's jersey in a move that looked like it was intended to prevent the ref from falling over. And, forgetting about the fact that I never said the NFL was dragging their feet (as opposed to the whole enforcement of the suspension is dragging on), the NFL has every right to enforce a suspension without running afoul of the justice system. This has happened time and again with the NFL choosing to enforce their own Code of Conduct policy, regardless of the outcome of an investigation (legal, criminal, or otherwise).

What I am pointing out is that there are so many people who seem to be as up in arms about Marshawn appealing a stupid yet completely harmless action, yet here is Zeke still playing as his supension for something much worse is dragging out without the same level of ire. It's strange to me.

Completely disagree. He is not the best receiving back but he is the best goal line back and pure runner.

I think that sells him short. He definitely brings something different to the table that Richard and Washington don't -- he is absolutely the best short yardage guy, and the best in-between the tackles pounder they have. Richard and Washington have similar skill sets -- Richard has the best burst and acceleration and is better in space; Washington is able to churn and gain yards after contact -- both have decent hands and can be relied on in pass pro. But they are much different runners than Lynch, who will always gain a yard or two falling forward and goes out to punish tacklers as much as they are looking to punish him. Lynch moves piles and carries defenders with him in a way Richard and Washington can't.

Great find. Seriously, how could anyone ever hate on this guy?

Really funny to see all the broken ankles he causes with his pro-level jukes. Kind of insane how big the high school kids are as well -- certainly not the veritable behemoths lineman are in the NFL, but many of those kids sure have both height and weight on the pro back.
One of my favorite players to watch in the past decade or so. He's crazy and not everyone can or should pull his crap but I love that guy.

"The scene will likely end up in a coming episode of “No Script,” the reality show of Lynch’s like currently airing on Facebook." - What a guy!
