Marshawn Lynch (1 Viewer)

Buck Stop

Yes, he had that great playoff run. Yes he's still young enough to be considered in his prime. But I just can't get on board with this guy.

His career averages are average at best, 4.0 per carry. Last year during his best year, he only averaged 4.2. He has averaged about 6 TDs per year.

Now he's gotten paid. Does anyone else worry he might just eat Skittles and mail it in?

I'm with you. I'm not nearly as high on him as most people. I think he is a great rb but not quite the level people are putting him

I definitely do not like him that much. I think he is at best an average back and I don't think he is the most motivated.

i don't like him and would likely never draft him, but he's a #1 back on an up and coming team with nothing in his way at production... obviously there are better options, but you could do much worse. he's still young(ish) and seattle seems like an organization that knows what their doing right now.

if i did own him - i'd sell high on his first great game of this season and never look back.

Above average talent but I'm really concerned about three things:

1)He never played consistently well until his contract year and now he got paid well. Will the fire be there?

2)His FF numbers look to me to be inflated by a circumstance that is highly unlikely to be sustainable (he scored a touchdown every single week for a good stretch of the year).

3) The Seahawks have openly said they will reduce his season carries to preserve him AND they drafted a RB that is basically a knock off version of him. That usually suggests "interchangeable parts".

My gut says sell if you own and don't buy if you don't own unless you're paying closer to what you would pay for a good brandon jacobs year. I see him out of the top 20 this year.

I have him as my RB2 and am thrilled with that. I would not be too happy with him as my RB1.
this. I love him as a high-end RB2.Lynch is a guy that doesn't compete for carries and puts up solid numbers week-to-week. His upside is somewhat limited due to his offense and the better defenses in the NFC West. His downside has already been discussed in this thread, but I think it's being overstated. Not sure what his ADP will be by August, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is being underrated by the masses.

I think he's being undervalued big time here. Guy was a beast last year running behind a patch work offensive line and the Seahawks having a dreadful passing game. The o line will come back heathy and they appear to have a legit QB now or at least someone better than Tarvaris. I hope others in my league feel the way the other posters here do so I can snatch him up cheaper than he should be.

Link to the bolded? He had 285 total last season. He did miss a game, and had a few early starts with single digit carries. Starting with the Dallas game though, Lynch averaged 23.44 carries a game, which would be 375 over 16 games. That number isn't sustainable, but 270-285 carries is probably about right.Sometimes a player is just perfect for a certain situation. That situation looks like Seattle for Marshawn Lynch. The coach loves him, the fans love him, and he looked to me like a man who loves playing football for the Seahawks.

I think Lynch has embraced his opportunity in Seattle and they love him for it. I see him working hard continuing to be the icon he has created for that city. Not top 5 but if healthy I don't see him being outside the top 10 FF RBs.

Beast mode only comes out when he is fighting for a new contract. RB2 is a fair valuation.
I don't think this is fair, and I keep seeing it posted quite often in reference to Lynch. He's only had one opportunity to get a second contract.Lynch had back to back 1,300 total yard seasons in Buffalo after getting his first rookie contract. If he was this kind of player he would have mailed it in a long time ago.

Gotta like the Tom Cable factor in Seattle. The last 6 seasons with SEA/OAK/ATL his teams have averaged 2170 yards rushing and 12 TDs, ranking in the top 10 in rushing 4 of the 6 season. I think last years production is definitely sustainable in this offense.
