Martez Wilson (1 Viewer)

I thought that this guy was supposed to be pretty NFL ready coming out of Illinois. Thought he was going to be handed the SLB job in NO before moving to WLB next year. He's barely seen the field. And several injuries have happened to the Saints at SLB, WLB and MLB and Wilson is still not seeing the field. What's up with this guy? Is his dynasty value already in the tank? Outlook for next year?

i don't know if he was expected to start this year, short of injury. casillas and dunbar are young 'backers, so there isn't much to distinguish him over either. shanle and vilma have the edge on experience. i can see him being given a shot at starting next year because they really need more out of the LBs in that scheme.

I'm holding on to him in dynasty. Greg Williams has "his guys" and Shanle is one of them but sooner or later he will get his chance. Vilma and Shanle are both in decline, Casillas and Dunbar have been good at times but have also been pretty bad at times as well. For what it's worth Martez got a chance earlier this season, I believe it was the Texans game but was only in a few plays before he suffered a stinger. He was then inactive for a few weeks. If I had to guess he'll get his chance to start next year

So, is Wilson being moved to DE now? Reading that's where he's been mostly rolling in OTAs.

If he DID make a position switch, what do we think that means for him valuewise? Smith suspended for 6 games, etc....

Word is he isn't taking any snaps at OLB and is exclusively working at DE. I like the switch for him, Smith is fading and the Saints brought in a lot of competition at LB. He could really shine on the D line with his explosiveness

thing is this about martez: who is ahead of him?

- cameron jordan had a ho-hum rookie year but this is his chance to shine.

- will smith is suspended, on the decline and took a pay-cut to remain with the team

- junior galette is a pass-rush specialist with a high motor but limited skilset.

- turk mcbride is a journeyman.

there isn't much to keep him off the field. Saints defense requires effective pass rush from the front four. lots of question marks about the front line. wilson has the athleticism to give it a shot.
