Marvel Cinematic Universe - Fantastic Four - No Homework Required (4 Viewers)

Loved the finale of Hawkey.  I could watch an entire series of Hailee and Florence.

HOWEVER, I'm not sold on this new big bad guy. Is he really going to be the main villain for the whole MCU?  He's pretty boring and he even looks like Thanos.

Who are you talking about?

I am trying to hang with this multiverse travesty, but it is a struggle.

If the next one has multiple Thors or Black Panthers, like Spiderman and Dr. Strange.. I'm out.
We already know there will be multiple Thors but not sure that’s due to the multiverse

He is not new.  Wilson Fiske has been a character in the MCU tv series since 2015.  And he is not going to be a main villain.

I would recommend you watch Daredevil to see how amazing a character he is.

Can we talk about the watch yet or is that too spoilery?  I will bury in tags in case any one cares.

For those unaware, the significance of the watch is that not only was Hawkeye's wife a shield agent but that she may have been the Mockingbird, which slightly conflicts with the TV show Agents of Shield

Okay.  How are you doing the spoiler tag thing?  I cannot figure it out.

Yeah I had to look that one up because it went completely over my head.

Is he alive still? I know it happened off screen so it's open ended.
I'm assuming he is. What's the Echo series going to be about if he is dead. Probably going to see Dare Devil in Echo as well.

I guess the Echo series could be based before Hawkeye and he could be dead but he would still be involved in Echo.

Kind of a random question, doesn’t spoil anything because it’s just my random thought

[hidden] what if Ned became venom?[/hidden]

ok I can’t figure out the dang hide / spoiler tag

I learned from watching James Stenbeck on As the World Turns, if there isn't a body, the dude isn't dead.  My guess is that Echo shot him in the chest.  That suit he's wearing is made of a tailored bullet-proof material, so her shot isn't all that fatal.

Like they say in Zombieland, always double tap.

I thought the first few episodes of Hawkeye were pretty lame, but the last couple were really fantastic. Not a huge fan of Steinfeld in the role but she grew on me and Yelena and Kingpin were great adds.

Fisk can be a main villain for the heroes that aren’t off world. There is room for your friendly neighborhood heroes still to help regular people.

I must have misunderstood.  When he said "main villain' and used Thanos as the comparison, I thought he was talking about the large over riding threat that links movies together building to another Inifinty War type of story.

Correct. The only thing they mentioned was the watch. The Ronin stuff was ancillary — they just thought Ronin was back. They weren’t seemingly aware that the stuff was up for auction.
You are right.  They even had a line spoken which was something like "the watch is the main item we want, every thing else is secondary".

But outside of giving the watch back to Laura, I don't think there was any scene which mentioned why they wanted it in the first place.  The only thing I can think of is that maybe they assumed it would have some Stark tech built into it since it was at the compound but that is only a guess and was never mentioned.

I don't think Maya was looking for Stark tech, she was looking for the identity of Ronin. My best guess is  she saw Ronin wearing a Rolex when he killed her dad. I don't think she ever figured out who Agent 19 was since the tracksuits first accused Kate of being Ronin.

I think Clint laments that the watch is something that should have been destroyed years ago, but that is also confusing since he just hands it back to Laura at the end like it was a prized possession.

I don't remember seeing a watch on the Ronin character in End Game but I could have easily missed it.

After Laura got dusted he started wearing her watch to remind him of her. Then lost it in the final battle in endgame.

Kingpin always kind of sucked as a villain in the comics.  Most of Spidey's foes were kinda stupid except Green Goblin and Hobgoblin.  Doc Oc was eh.

Spider-Man NWH.  Very good flick for about the last hour or so.  A lot of dialogue is brutal at setting up a joke.  Some dialogue later is great.

Not sure some of the story elements hold up but will discuss those later.

Hopefully they are severing some ties to the current iteration.  Does anyone want to see Happy back?

Spider-Man NWH was entertaining.  My two kids that went with me loved it.

I am not sure I will enjoy the multiverse stuff.  On the fence right now.

I wouldn't go with lame. I'd say like pretty much all the series it had a slow build. I thought the show worked pretty well. The chemistry with Yelena really helped Kate as a character and many of us have been wishing for Vincent back as Kingpin. Seemed more like Spider-Man/Daredevil comics Kingpin here with his physicality and ability to absorb punishment. I was very happy with the series overall.

This is similar to my thoughts.  The way I put it was each episode was better than the previous one.  The first one really was kinda meh.  The next pretty good.  From the third on I was really excited about each new episode.  Really well done in my opinion.

I think they realize that they (Marvel) are in danger of losing some fans who don't want the multiverse stuff.  Spiderman may be setting the stage for more "ground level" heroes.  Kingpin won't be the Thanos of any MCU arc, but he could surely be a player in things.
