Marvel Cinematic Universe - Fantastic Four - No Homework Required (1 Viewer)

I believe I saw this get explained in some YT video.  Seems to make sense to me.  Highlight the below as I don't wish to spoil anything.

In order to reach the final destination they needed an item capable of summoning the Bifrost bridge (either Mjolner or Stormbreaker).  Mjolner had been destroyed in Ragnarock and Stormbreaker hadn't been forged by the time he started collecting the Infinity Stones, thus Thanos wouldn't have had access to either item.

HTH.

Ok, but Thor has it before the snap, which means they could have immediately traveled and wished for all to immediately return, after Thanos was dead.

I'd have to watch the film again, but I don't believe Thor was aware of the Eternity option until Gor told him about it (and they never really explain how Gor knows about it - I assume imparted to him via the Necrosword?).  If memory serves correct, Thor was surprised that Gor was actually laying a trap to get Stormbreaker and not him.  Thor may have been aware of Eternity as a myth or legend, but never considered it an actual option after the snap.  Plus, when Dr. Strange searched the 14 million alternative futures in IW, there was only one that resulted in Thanos being defeated and half the universe being restored, and it wasn't via the Eternity wish.  Perhaps in every timeline where the good guys went after the Eternity wish, Thanos managed to outflank them and got there first, resulting in the same ending (half the universe gone)?

Honestly, if you didn’t enjoy this or Dr strange, it’s probably best to take a break from these films. I don’t think they’re going to get less silly or outlandish any time soon.
It wasn’t really the silliness (loved ragnorak) but it just wasn’t really good.

My family (kids 6, 12, and 14) saw Love and Thunder and we all loved it. Lots of great humor, and I really enjoyed the story. And yes, my wife would say seeing Chris Helmsworth naked alone was worth the price of the tickets  :lmao:

I loved Ragnarok, it’s 1A for me with Infinity War.  But I’ve been on the fence about seeing L&T in the theater.  And Thor is by far my favorite Marvel character.  I think I’m burned out on Marvel.  Last Spider-Man was okay but Eternals (terrible), Shang chi (meh) and MoM (mediocre) have just deflated the balloon.  I guess I’ll wait for it on Disney+.   Sad day for me.

Just saw Love and Thunder and thought it was okay. Way behind the first Thor and Ragnarok, but better than Dark World.

Spoiler Alerts. Read anymore at your own risk.

Things I liked about this Thor.

Christian Bale - Amazing actor, best part of the movie and it is kind of sad he only has a one off role.

The Gods - I like the angle of the Gods getting fat and lazy and not caring about their people because there will always more followers.

Korg - he is too funny.

Zeus/Hercules - the revenge angle could be cool.

Jane Foster - glad they didn't use the final scene to save her, instead of bringing back his daughter.

Guardians - they made their cameo and were out. I like that they didn't dominate the movie. They have their own movie coming up.

Things I disliked.

The music and comedy - in Ragnarok it worked, this felt forced.

The whole ex's - whether it was significant others or weapons, it was just too much and they just kept bringing it up over and over.

Valkaryie - she looked miserable as king. It is one thing to have a political adversary as a bad guy, but bringing up all the things that being a politician is about is boring.

The goats - so annoying.

The kid - just seems weird, plus the next Thor is probably going to be about him and this kid fighting revenge seeking Gods.

Love - No one likes a love story more than I do, but I don't need this many love stories all in one super hero movie.

The weapons - the lighting bolt was horrid, and even the hammer and axe looked like bad props at certain times during the movie.

Mild spoilers...

6/10. Barely better than Eternals.  Not as good as Dark World. MoM was a couple tiers above this drek. I'm sure these were great stories in the comics but the entire first act was a highlight reel of all of the character development, and the self aware cheesiness was disrespectful to the formula that makes Marvel great (characters matter). Pacing was all over the place too.

Politically, I am not a supporter of the ideology that I suspect is behind the gay representation, but I do believe that representation is appropriate and important for the mental health of underrepresented populations. It was actually one of the better parts of an otherwise sub par effort.

This might have been a good story with better writing and editing, maybe a great miniseries. The movie was not good.

Fwiw, I really like that there is such a wide array of views with this movie. Makes sense that there are, and it’s great.
this will probably be one of the movies u I enjoyed more the first time than any subsequent viewings. Basically an opposite of the first Cap and IM 1 and 2 which I enjoyed far more the more I watched them (clearly because the characters meant more).

I am one of the few that didn't really like Ragnarok because I thought it was over the top cheesy so sounds like Love and Thunder is going to be more of the same.

It's interesting that Thor is one of my favorite Marvel characters but I haven't really liked any of his individual movies that much.  I think what it is, is that the Avengers movies were the perfect mix of drama and comedy, and he is one of the best characters in those.  But the Thor movies went from pure melodrama (the first 2) to pure over the top comedy (Ragnarok and it sounds like L&T too).  They never really hit that middle ground that the Avengers movies nailed.
This one is even more comedy and winks to the audience than Ragnarock. Bale saved it in that he was fantastic- and I did get a lot of laughs at least. For me it was worth seeing, but it’s a silly movie (with that being mostly on purpose at least).

Well Korg's race is male only so I guess there's really no choice but to be gay.

Ms Marvel's finale was decent.  Over the run each episode got better and better but the finale felt rushed and somewhat anticlimactic.  I enjoyed the series overall though.  Excellent mid credit scene in the finale too.

I think I'd rank them this way for me:

WandaVision
Hawkeye
Loki
Ms Marvel
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier
Moon Knight
What If…?

Well he implied that every baby is a boy when discussing his race's mating ritual - holding hands over a fire pit for a month(?) until a baby boy is born.
Right. I was referring to the “continuity error” where he talks about his mom showing up to his Revolution.

Would love to see the team talking to Thor about his last adventure.

Thor: so, there I was, with Gorr and a bunch of monsters with kids by my side… so I gave them all the power of Thor.

Bruce: the Asgardian kids all had the power of Thor?

Thor: yes, the other races too.

Bruce: humans?

Thor: yes, why?

Bruce: so that time in Wakanda, you could have given us all the power of Thor?

Thor: yes, for a limited time. But you were too weak.

Bruce: but the kids handled it. A freaking teddy bear shot lasers out of his eyes.

Thor: yes, that was great.

Clint: so, you could have just gone to eternity?

Yelena: you’re an #######.

Yeah that was one of those "why didn't the hobbits just ride on the Eagles backs to drop that stupid ring into the volcano?" moments in that movie.

It also made going to the God World to form an army pretty pointless as well since he could have just given that power to all the Asgardians as his army to fight Gorr.

to be fair the kids would be worthy of the power of thor and the other avengers wouldn’t be, even thor wasn’t worthy at one point. kids are awesome and adults are not

I don't believe Thor gave the kids HIS power.  He gave them the power of Zeus.  After all, he used Zeus' Thunderbolt to grant the children their powers and their lightning powers were gold colored like Zeus' instead of the blue-ish color of Thor's lightning.

So ultimately, by going to Omnipotent City and obtaining the Thunderbolt, he was able to create his "army" (using the children) and defeat Gor.

I fell asleep during Thor. I am not sure how long I was out but I had serious head nodding going on. I felt the movie really dragged but had a great ending. I loved Christian Bale's performance but in the long run it hurt the movie. It just seemed weird that Christian Bale is up there giving an academy award performance and everyone else is acting like the three stooges. Christian Bale made the rest of the cast look like amateurs.

This.

Christian Bale's God Butcher might be the best character in a Marvel Movie period.

The heart of the story was worthwhile and well done.

The other 80% was farcical... someone has placed an inflated worth on the worst parts of Thor movies - Matt Daman and their skits, Thor's rock sidekick Jar Jar Binx, a fat Russel Crowe Zeus carrying a Home Goods gold spray painted styrofoam lightning bolt.

Enjoyed Ms. Marvel as a whole. The actor nailed the role and clearly loves everything about it so looking forward to seeing more.

Ok, can someone who is a Marvel nerd go through the phase 5 and 6 information and let us know what may be in store?  What’s Thunderbolts?

It’s kind of like the Suicide Squad. It’s Marvel’s version of villains/anti-heroes “super team”.

That’s the group Julia Louis Dreyfus is putting together right now right?  So US Agent, possibly Yelena, maybe others I’ve forgotten.  Going to be trickier with William Hurt gone as he was the “Thunder” in Thunderbolts.
