I love how people keep trying to connect these shows to the big future of the MCU where the producers all but admitted thats not gonna happen. We're two series in and so far neither provided any big reveals.

Better than FaWS but not close to as good as Wandavision. Which is totally the opposite of what I thought I was going to like when the shows were announced.

This week’s episode felt kind of pointless other than the TVA employees being variants of some sort. The Loki character is great though.

So Loki's a badass God of Mischief who can do magic and a couple of human guards can beat him up and toss him out a window?
I just watched this week's episode and came to post this complaint. Wtf was up with 2 superpowers struggling to fight regular people.

Especially after Loki caught a falling tower and set it back upright :lmao:

I think this whole sequence is an enchantment, but it is Loki on Sylvie.  I don't think the Timepad is broken, I think Loki is trying to get info from her (or herself as the case may be lol).

These shows are clearly connected to the future of the MCU.  The Scarlet Witch was born in WandaVision (previously she was only Wanda).  She'll be a big part of Dr. Strange II with her increased powerset.  Will movie only people have to watch WandaVision to understand it?  Probably not, they'll likely do a clever recap catching people up.  Will it provide people who watched WandaVision a fuller experience?  Absolutely.

Sharon Carter as the Power Broker was going to be a decent sized villain in the future.  People reacted to her character arc so badly it is now reportedly being moved away from.  FatWS will have the least impact on the MCU going forward except movie only viewers will say "Hey, Falcon is now Captain America and has a cool new suit." If that doesn't count as a big reveal, there was actually a fair amount of debate at the end of Endgame if Sam would take the mantle or end up passing it to Bucky.

Halfway in to Loki, I think they are introducing Kang the Conqueror.  Kang will officially debut in AntMan, but things right now are pointing towards him.  I doubt he makes an on-screen appearance and perhaps they don't even call him by name, but I think that's where it is going.

Regardless of how it turns out, these shows will impact the movie MCU going forward.  I doubt they will make the shows required viewing as movies are the cash cow, but these have been pretty entertaining reveals for a lot of people.

They will introduce Kang—he kind of already was for some of us uber nerds—but I think he won’t be “recognized” until it’s spoiled online. I don’t want to ruin anything, so I’ll stay mum until when/if the character is definitely revealed. I don’t want to spoil anything. They are doing a great job of giving subtle clues, imo.

You are right on the reveals, too. There have also been some pretty big ones that just haven’t been recognized yet, imo.

Shang-Chi trailer

Didn't see it mentioned in all the LOKI talk, but the trailer for Shang-Chi was released Friday.

Appears that the Abomination is in a cage match with a sorcerer, with speculation that it could be Wong.

Finished falcon and winter soldier. Not terrible, I just never really got into it.  Never really cared about bucky as a character and Falcon kind of blows in the movies, he had several good moments here but nothing I looked forward to watching.  And the bad guys are usually the highlight of the MCU but here they felt flat.

Wandavision had much better moments but it was a little too kitschy at first and then the baddie big reveal felt kind of cartoonish to me.  Enjoyable but not my favorite characters.

Loki is a great character, by far the most charismatic actor in the series, Owen Wilson has been a nice counterpoint, they've done a great job revealing the rules so far and dealing with the timeline issues created in endgame and I'm curious where it goes and genuinely don't know how it will end up.  Easily my favorite of the three so far although it could go south fast if they fly too close to the sun here

I'm excited about Shang Chi (much moreso than the Eternals).  I saw Abomination in the clip, but I seriously doubt it is Wong.  Could be but I don't think so.

I started watching Clone Wars and have similar gripes.  Jedi can pick up ships and people with their mind but they are constantly running after bad guys.

The current episode in S3 they are "doing something" to disguise themselves on supply ship that completely ignores a pivotal scene in TESB.

:nerd:

Credits scene spoiler:

Had to go back and pause it to notice the alligator Loki that the young kid Loki was holding.

Also, that is the wreckage of Avengers Tower on the right side of the screen behind them.

I was already starting to think that multiple characters were Loki.  Now you throw this at me?  Heck, maybe am a Loki. I just don't know anymore.

Thought I saw somewhere the other day that Feige confirmed it is Wong.

Rumors seem to be circulating the actor was seen near where they were filming so its possible.  Can't wait to find out.

random thought.  when pruned, do you go back to the nexus event, you were plucked from?  or is mobius riding jet skis in the sky?
My wife and I were discussing this last night.  I think you're dead. However, since the TVA can travel anywhere in time, they can go back and prevent a death before it happens.

Well you are right.  I try to avoid cast spoilers like that (sometimes you can't help but see them) but this popped up in Facebook. Will be interesting to see why Wong was in a battle like that.

ETA: Ah, I also see someone posted a link to another article.

The deaths were not expected.
They were not however they do not appear to be deaths thanks to post credit scene.
I was shocked (SHOCKED I tell you) when Owen Wilson was pruned.  When Loki was pruned I then thought there's no way he's going out like that, and the series would jump the shark pretty quickly if they killed Loki then just pulled another "Tom Hiddleston" variant out of another timeline to bring him back.  Mid credit scene seems to confirm they aren't dead but relocated elsewhere. Since the only other people we saw there were Loki's, I wonder if it is like the time cell he was in that was unique to him.  That's where all the variants of a person end up.  Perhaps Mobius is jet skiing to safety with another version of himself (would be cool if Luke Wilson came into play a variant).

We got a good glimpse of Old Loki with the original costume, Kid Loki, and even alligator Loki :)  I knew a previous Loki was a horse but I'm not sure about gator Loki.  It looked like the Loki of African descent was holding a hammer, it didn't look like Mjolnir but maybe it was a sister hammer or something.  Avengers Tower was in ruins in the background as well.

The apparent self love that was going to occur on Lamentis appeared to be the nexus event.  It will be interesting to see if Sylvie and Loki get together.  Talk about a narcissist, he could only fall in love with himself (or a version of himself).

When is the last time someone can HONESTLY say self love saved their life.

Might of been good to spoiler tag it, but since it was in the trailer?

I tend to not care about cast spoilers since not all of them are true.  Actually looking forward to the movie though.

Got tickets next week to Black Widow.  Kid is excited to go too.  We are actually hitting the theater for the first time in over a year.

Oh yeah I’m not blaming you in that, sorry if it came across that way. The one that bugged me was someone on Facebook saying “Here’s Sophia Di Martino as Lady Loki” before Ep 2 aired. It had not dawned on me that they would use really different Loki variants”.

Yep we will see Black Widow in the theater. Will probably go see Fast 9 before that. The last movie I saw in the theater was the disappointing Tenet.

Feel like that 2 of these 3 shows are better than the movies and I absolutely love the movies. These shows are incredible.
Loki was just okay for me until this last episode. They really outdid themselves. I hope episode 5 and 6 deliver as much as 4 did.

Just finished watching tenet and I can't wait to watch it again.  Surprised that the general consensus was not better.  Interested in your thoughts
I thought it tried to hard to be a "Nolan" movie.  I absolutely love Memento and Inception.  His take on the Batman movies were incredible (except for the 3rd which was merely ok). I didn't think the plot development was as good in this one.  It feels like he came up with a concept (inversion) then built cool set pieces around it. I didn't really feel connected to the characters, and because of the hype leading up to it, I found myself trying to watch for little things that would give the gimmick away rather than investing in the characters. I did "figure" it out during the first hand to hand combat scene (not the whole thing, but enough of it).

Surprisingly, other than Robert Pattinson, I didn't think any of the other actors excelled in it.  I like John David Washington but this character was so aloof that I just didn't care.  I normally like Kenneth Branagh but didn't care about this character at all.  The main actress was totally non descript and a typical damsel in distress.  Her one interesting point about the lady diving off the yacht I figured out way in advance so that wasn't a surprise.

The action scenes were great.  The sound mixing seemed really off to me, I had a hard time picking up some of the dialogue.  Anyway, after a long time out of theaters I was really excited to see it, and I was disappointed.  I didn't hate it, probably a 2 out of 4 stars.

In a list no one asked for, here's my ranking of Nolan movies I've seen:

  1. Memento
  2. Batman Begins
  3. Dark Knight
  4. Inception
  5. Dunkirk
  6. Interstellar
  7. Tenet
  8. Dark Knight Rises
  9. Insomnia - actually didn't realize this was a Nolan movie until I just looked up his IMDB list
I also just realized I never saw The Prestige, which I always wanted to but just never did.  The top 5 movies are really great and the bottom 4 are all at least "ok".  Great filmmaker.
