The question becomes the same: the sandbox gets too big and the expectations too high.I'm rewatching some of the relevant IP before going to see Deadpool & Wolverine again on Saturday.
To me it is very clear that the MCU desperately needs to get the X-Men on screen, specifically Rogue for the sole purpose of taking down Captain Marvel, who is just too overpowered to be interesting.
Kevin Feige really dropped the ball on bringing her to the MCU, I like Brie Larson just fine but the character has been very poorly handled, which hamstrings the entire MCU.
Plus, for the longest time before the movies the X-Men were the, by far the most important IP for Marvel. The Fantastic Four were afterthoughts at that point and they appear to be next on deck with the Dr. Doom news.
They X-Men, not just Wolverine need to be brought into the fold already.
Doom is a great antagonist for the MCU going forward, much better than Kang IMO.The question becomes the same: the sandbox gets too big and the expectations too high.I'm rewatching some of the relevant IP before going to see Deadpool & Wolverine again on Saturday.

A lot of this IP belongs on the big screen but not in the same way. That's why I dug "the winter soldier" and "civil war" bc the stakes were lower and more real. Doom and Secret wars hopefully will be big tentpoles but with stakes that are more muted.
Introducing the X men / rebooting the X men is always going to be frought with problems bc the Omega powered mutants are so uncontrolable.
So, yeah, a Jean Grey vs the MCU would be cool, but a better idea is having X men, Alpha Flight, teh Fantatstic Four, and the Avengers in their own little pockets where they may team up with (or against) each other.
As my son said "reed richards is usually responsible for all the mishaps in the MCU". They shifted that to Iron man in the first phase of this. Now it is time for Reeds' mistakes to be the Harbringer...
I agree with all of this. Yeah, they really should have "powered down" danvers with "the Marvels" but I guess they had bigger fish to fry.Doom is a great antagonist for the MCU going forward, much better than Kang IMO.The question becomes the same: the sandbox gets too big and the expectations too high.I'm rewatching some of the relevant IP before going to see Deadpool & Wolverine again on Saturday.

But, as long as Carol Danvers can come down and head butt Thanos it will be difficult to create the kinds of stakes that make threats feel real. That's why I think Rogue is so important because they need to reset Danvers. Of course there are other ways to accomplish that but the Rogue v Danvers storyline was a classic.
Putting too much IP out there is a big problem and I love making all the IP their own installations with occasional small crossovers. But without resetting Danvers the MCU will need Dark Phoenix level threats to make the stakes feel real.
Oh and, Alpha Flight? Talk about throwing too many toys in the sandbox. Unless something changed that I don't know about they are a third tier property on par with The Eternals or The Inhumans (although Black Bolt is probably tier two).
I honestly have no idea what they were trying to do with The Marvels but whatever it was they did it poorly. It's a shame. I like all three characters.I agree with all of this. Where is his Spidey-sense? Out to lunch?Best Spider-Man fight scene of all-time. Clearly the inspiration for the far inferior Netflix Daredevil hallway fight scenes.

Unless they have him wear the mask all the time. And I mean ALL the time.RDJ as Doom is a complete red herring. It's a bait and switch of some sort. I simply cannot see a way to make the founding pillar of the MCU the antagonist for Phase...whatever. It doesn't matter its a different character, RDJ is Iron Man. Full Stop.

I made the mistake of watching Madam Web on Netflix tonight. Dreadful. This is one movie I'm not certain about yet....WTF is Madame Web?
Madame Web is a character from Spider-man comics who has her hand (literally) on the "web of life". Think of this like in Loki where each branch is a different universe, or altenate timeline. In Spider-man comics, there is a similar setup called the web of life in which Madam Web can see into these timelines/universes by touching the web. She can basically see into the future or predict future events.
So the movie Madame Web is an extension of the Sony Spiderverse, which includes all of those spider-man movies, Venom, the vampire movie (can't remember the name), and soon to be Kraven. Madame Web can interact with each spider-person from each alternate timeline/multiverse, bring them into the Web of Life and use them like pawns - I believe. This is what I'm recalling from comics, but it's been some time since I've read that area initially.
I thought we would've seen her in the Spider-verse animated movies, but I guess not. That would've made more sense to me instead of them using Spiderman 2099 as the figure head of that centralized/universal spider lair.

Wtf is Spiderman Noir?
Wikipedia has a nice summary. Sounds interesting.Wtf is Spiderman Noir?
if you watched Spiderman Into the Spiderverse set of movies, Spiderman Noir is the character voiced by Nick Cage.
Spiderman-Noir is an 8 episode animated series based on an alternate version of this character, set in the 1930's (Nick Cage will also voice the character in the tv series).
