What are you long term prospects on Matt Harvey for the Mets? He obviously had a great game last night. Do you trade now quickly for something decent before he pulls a Bauer and struggles or do you hold him and hope he's the next great young starter?
Harvey hasn't been as highly rated in prospects lists as some other young pitchers but he's here and he's starting every fifth day. Command is his biggest concern short-term, he walked too many in the minors although it didn't bite him last night.
Long term projections of young pitchers has a high margin for error. He only has 245 minor league IPs to project and hasn't made it through the injury nexus yet. I'd probably rank Wheeler higher than Harvey among Mets pitching prospects but that's just to maximize the Brian Sabean karma factor.
Outside of NY, I don't think there's enough hype on him to get much in return. I'd float it out there and try for more than is deserved but it'll take a few more starts to get real value in return. Doesn't hurt to try though.
1) IF you can sell high (any Mets fans in the league) for help you need to win you DO it2) IF you need pitching help in a keeper league and can't get a GOOD dump trade then pitch him (hype can higher as well as lower)3) IF you are in a keeper league and don't need or can't trade him then you should HOLD

You don't trade a young SP with his talent and ability to miss bats in a keeper league Unless it gets you something you need to win this year - or a better keeper(s)

Sure he can strikeout batters pretty well but he also gives up a lot of walks, and his ERA wasn't great in college or in AAA this year. Overall I suppose it depends on one's league scoring and roster limits, but I think he's far enough away from putting up consistent fantasy valuable stats that in all but the deepest of leagues I'd be trying to trade him; assuming your team isn't in rebuild mode.
