Matt Hasselbeck Back Injury? (1 Viewer)

From Rotowire - anyone know / see this as a concern?

Aug 11 Hasselbeck missed his second straight practice Monday to a back injury, but a bigger worry might be the loss of Bobby Engram for two months.Recommendation: Hasselbeck might miss Saturday's exhibition game, but the injury isn't considered serious. More serious is the loss of Engram, who was Hasselbeck's only trusted receiver. Nate Burleson becomes the No. 1 wideout, and after that it's a whole lot of nothing unless one of the team's inexperienced receivers improves dramatically in training camp. The Seahawks likely will look to sign a free-agent receiver.

Whew, that's hard to say. Those things can linger.

I know Troy Aikman struggled thru this in his latter years, but that's not to say this is the same.

Nonetheless, back injuries are in a league of their own, and are hard to gauge from where we stand.

I had a pretty severe back injury myself over 20 years ago. Some days are good, some days are bad. If I simply sleep wrong it's enough to ruin my day.

Hasselbeck tweeked his back on the first drive of the game against the Vikings and had to lie down on the sideline. I was starting to get worried at that point, but he got up and went back into the game for the Seahawks second series. I doubt he would have gone back into the game if his back was really troubling him.

Holmgren was a little surprised that he didn't practice on sunday, and now I think they're just being cautious with him. Hopefully he doesn't play against the Bears this weekend and holds a clipboard while Tommy Harris and Brian Urlacher take out their frustrations on Seneca Wallace.

to add to the SEA woes

per roto...

Seahawks C Chris Spencer (back) is in danger of not being ready when the regular season opens.

With Chris Gray retired, Seattle's next option is Steve Vallos, a 2007 seventh round pick who's never appeared in an NFL game and played tackle in college. Seattle's inside running game could struggle early with Spencer out.

I'm glad that I haven't drafted any Seahawks yet.

They are looking like a Murphy's Law team like the Rams of last year.

On a positive note, Seahawks could be great buy lows for 2009. :goodposting:

Im a Hawks fan and I hope they stink it up. They need to make changes to the offense. When you need RB's and WR's you know the offense is going to struggle. The hawks are in for a LONG year IMO.

Hasselbeck was interviewed on local TV and said it was nothing--he got sandwiched on a hit and tweaked his back, but it's no big deal.

I will not be taking any part of the Seahawks offense and at this rate I will soon be out of the running for their defense as well.

Wow! Talk about going to hell in a handbasket. I just hope someone in my league does want some of those guys b/c I always love to see people go off the board that I won't own.

I don't know too much about Hasselbeck but he strikes me as a qb that can manage the game well and is more than just a qualified, efficient player. With that said, I would only imagine that his stats don't drop a great deal as he is able to do quite a bit with the little that's available. I would only imagine that the #1 WR in Seattle should have a decent year...no matter if they have the skill to "create opportunities" or not...I think Hasselbeck can do that.
