Matt Jones in Dynasty (1 Viewer)

Curious what people think of Matt Jones in dynasty. I know he is waiver wire fodder in redraft, but wondering if people are still keeping him in dynasty. Now with Garrard's injury he is actually the backup QB! That is bad IMO, as it means no reps or activation as WR, and he is not going to ever get a chance as a serious Qb; so, he is wasted. I think he is close to being waiver wire material even in dynasty since he wasn't even active this week; what do others think?

I didn't know he ever had value. Seriously. Not trying to be a troll, but he has never done much of anything and has been on waivers all yr in our dynasty league.

I had him in three dynasty leagues and as a late first round rookie pick. Nurtured him on the roster for last 2 years. Languished through injuries, etc. Cut him in all three leagues 2 weeks ago and feel better. He has the skills, but the injuries, situation, etc has made him junk. There are better WR talents to stash away IMHO....

I have the roster spot to hold onto him until the Jags release him and A) he goes to another team or B) he's done with football.

If by 'etc.' you mean lack of work ethic and fear of being hit, then you are right on. I really don't believe the light is ever going to click on for this guy in JAX or anywhere else because he just doesn't care that much. Really I question even giving him the nod in the skills department. Other than speed and size what skills has he ever demonstrated in the NFL? Agility-no, acceleration-no, good hands-no, blocking-no.

He's awful. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. No playing speed. No quickness. No separation. No intensity.

Thats what I meant by etc....I was just trying to be nice...

Can't believe we're still talking about him.

Last year, fine. But the guy is far behind a career slot guy, a slow possession WR, an undrafted rookie i believe in Broussard (drafted or not, it's moot) and a fellow 1st round bust.

The guy made a nice chunk of $$ off being 6'5, being fast and a crazy endzone one-handed grab before the draft. You need to let it go now.

I am asking because I don't like to judge highly drafted WRs for at least three years, but it is hard to keep him when he isn't at least active for games. The first two years he did ok, not great. This year the wheel has fallen off with Del Rio, but I wonder how much of it is him and how much the team and coach. If he goes elsewhere he might do much better. Was hoping they would trade him or cut him so he could catch on somewhere else like Tampa or KC or HOU.

Work ethic really is the only problem I see. Maybe that stems from fear of being hit  He actually produced alright for a 2nd year player when he played, but his lack of effort in practice will kill his value.

Aside from Mike Williams, I haven't been more disapointed in a WR. I'm still holding out hope, enough to roster him in 2 larger dynasty leagues.

Exactly. He's rosterable in Zealots (53 man rosters) and it is worth waiting it out. If he ends up on a different team I'll give him a few weeks next season to show something.

Was listening to ESPN Radio on my way home last night and Trey Wingo and Sean Salisbury brought up that just maybe Jax might try him at QB this week at practice and see how it goes since Garrard's out and his backup is wretched.

FWIW.....

Who was the last white QB the Jags have had? It seems like even the backups were always black.

In a ppr and point per COMPLETION league, I just traded for him...

Something happens, and he's the starting QB, he's still got WR eligibility, and if he can complete 12-15 passes, that's huge for my Walkerless/Johnsonless team.

So if he plays Qb but is listed at WR we get his QB points? Interesting. I don't think that will happen but you never know; it's been a strange year for sure.

Oh, it works. He's the backup, and Gray looked BAD. And, they couldn't keep leftwich healthy, Garard gets hurt...it's only a matter of time lol.

I think it's more likely they'd bring Tim Couch in at QB (which he isn't going to be) than for Matt to be their QB.

JMO but Matt doesn't have a future in the NFL. To be honest, I don't think he cares. He's got his coin.
