Matt Jones (1 Viewer)

I think Jones will be on the Jaguars next season, but he'll have a similar role as this season.

They'll keep 5 guys, it will probably look like this:

1. Reggie Williams

2. Dennis Northcutt

3. Matt Jones

4. Mike Walker

5. John Broussard/Charles Sharon

Walker could potentially go to IR again, or just be cut outright if he's not healthy. This is assuming they don't re-sign Wilford, which is also a possibility. A lot depends on Broussard's development. Seemed like he was in the doghouse by season's end (injuries too).

Jones is a tease. He KILLS me with the one-handed attempts. He just doesn't have the quickness or acceleration to be any kind of legit fantasy-level WR. Roster him at your own risk.
Are you pulling this out of your ### or do you have a credible source indicating there would be some reason he might not be healthy? My understanding when he was placed on IR was that it was a move to stash him more than anything else, and that if they didn't have an abundance of WRs they would have kept him active. There are a lot of dynasty leaguers looking closely at Walker for next year, so if this "IR again, or just be cut outright" stuff is just pure speculation on your part without any backup, please don't.
Nobody has any legit news on Walker - he obviously can't practice, so we won't know anything until minicamp next season. Yes, he may have been stashed. But you have to acknowledge anytime someone goes to IR that there's a possibility of a lingering injury. I wasn't speculating that Walker is, or will be a bust. What I am saying is that you can't assume anything with him. He was a third round pick. For god's sake, Eric Crouch was a third round wide receiver.

Walker has a very nice upside, but at this point no one outside of Jacksonville trainers (who aren't going to be talking) and Walker himself knows about his status for '08.
That's what I thought, you pulled the "would potentially go to IR again, or just be cut outright if he's not healthy" out of your ###. Thanks. His surgery was during his junior college season, and he came back to have a monster senior college season. He was experiencing some discomfort in JAX training camp but insisted he was fine. There was no new injury, and no real major problem with the old one. They stashed him, plain and simple, because they decided to keep both Williams and Jones another year. It was a numbers game and they didn't want to have to either cut Walker or put him on the practice squad, running the risk of another team grabbing him. They love this guy, said in last year's camp that he was their best WR, and he'll be a starter for them soon enough. No chance they'll either IR or cut him this year.

I don't pay much attention to the Jags, as I don't own any in fantasy since I cut Reggie Williams (again) a while back.
You missed out on what was quietly a very solid season, then. Williams finished the season 8th in receiving TDs.

I'm just sayin ...I refuse to give up the dream ...Was surprised no one else commented on this? I think he could still rebound and is undervalued in dynasty ... :tfp:
Gave up on him before the year began. In my dynasty I got rid of him in a trade that involved draft picks (moving up to get Calvin Johnson 2nd overall in rookie draft) and Lee Evans. Lee did not set any records this year but still a huge upgrade over M. Jones.

I'm speculating, just like you. We don't know about him right now. Plenty of guys have issues following ACL surgery. Some never come back 100%, despite reports that they're "looking better than ever" (paging Yatil Green!) There's no new info at all on Walker. Not to hijack this thread, but you're trying to call me out for bad info, or for pulling something out of thin air? It's an ACL injury, and he's a third-round pick. The Jags were getting ZERO production out of the WR spot, and both GM and coach were on the hot seat entering the season. They aren't IR-ing Walker unless they didn't think he could produce!

You're saying I have no info - what do YOU have that says he'll do anything next year? All I'm saying, is who knows about him. He's a big unknown. He could have 1,000 yards, he could be cut.

I don't pay much attention to the Jags, as I don't own any in fantasy since I cut Reggie Williams (again) a while back.

Meh. After I cut him, he didn't get picked up.My league kinda doesn't favor TDs over yardage as much as some do.

He ended up the #35 WR in our scoring system.

I did notice he was productive down the stretch. Should have dropped Stokley for him, but felt Stokley less likely to put up the egg in the playoffs. As Stokley sat out the playoffs, I was wrong.

I've owned him for parts of all his seasons.

I'll probably draft him cheap again next year, hoping...

I don't think Reggie will come too cheaply next year.....I don't understand why he did not get more opportunities this year.....he was very productive when he was targeted.

He was kinda sorta in the doghouse this offseason. Some people even suggested that he was in danger of being cut. That was never actually the case, but he didn't exactly distinguish himself from the other WRs on the roster during the open competition in the offseason. However, he figures to be their #1 passing target next season and could be in for a solid year if the team takes the training wheels off of Garrard.
