Matt Schaub: Out Of The Archive And Into The Fire? ***Update: Starting! (1 Viewer)

I looked for his player page, but it's archived. He still plays and will likely take the reins this week against Seattle. Matty Ice likely sits. This can be inferred by the calling up of Danny Etling from the practice squad, though no announcement has come yet. 1-6 Atlanta stands what kind of chance?

are you rolling with him? I'm a Ryan owner considering grabbing Schaub for the week.it's either Schaub or Tannehill, Rudolph, Winston.cast of characters.

You darn well know it. My other options are Darnold against JAX after the NE fiasco and Baker vs. NE, which I can't even bear to watch.

Schaub it may very well be, though there's a huge, huge risk that it all blows up in my face.

That's okay, I'm a dog in this particular league this week.

I would roll with Tannehill or Winston if I were you, though. My options are Superflex and that's why the pickings are so slim.

I picked him up in a dynasty where I start Matt Ryan. My other QBs are Kyle Allen (who faces SF) and Mitch Trubisky (who sucks) so I may roll with Matt as a high(ish) floor low ceiling option. I just get the feeling Trubisky is capable of negative points on any given week.

thanks! I do like Schaub @ home , i'm intrigued might go that way.. but Tannehill is the safe play I guess.

Allen is going to face 15-20 MPH winds, according to the weather report from Rotoworld. It's one of the notable weather trends for the week in football, anyway.

I'm not saying the guy is mashed potatoes and salted cream butter, but he's a live body to start in deep 2QB leagues if you drafted QBs late (or poorly :bag:

yeah it's all about who is available to you. Schaub is always good for a game or two. Sea -7,52 pt o/u means a lot of scoring. The way the Browns played Sea makes you think Schaub has a chance to be good in this one.maybe? What about Moore at home vs. GB 48 o/u, GB -4. is that an option for you?

Beautiful day in Nashville, 68, partly cloudy, 4mph winds.Tannehill @ home.Curiously, Bucs are 2.5 pt dogs, not the usual 3 pt line for visitors. makes me wonder if Winston is a good play here.

Minshew is available, -6.5 v at home Jets.

Interesting. Moore was not available and went for whopping FAAB dollars in this league.

As for the rest of it, I really don't know. Atl/Sea is supposed to be a track meet given Atlanta's poor pass defense, but who knows what they'll do now that this gets thrown into the mix. That might move the line significantly if Schaub does start.

Tannehill is still checking down, but that's to be expected when newly installed. As for the o/u and points and Winston, Tennessee's defense is tough, and last time we saw Winston he gakked up five picks and a fumble to Carolina, albeit in London. My assessment of Jameis is a rare one because I'm entranced by his play when he's on. When he's on, there are few better and Godwin and Evans make him look just smashing. But he's got big variance. .

As for Minshew, Fournette touches the ball in some way about thirty times a game for JAX and they love to pound it, so not sure about Gardner compiling any cool stats if they get a lead. Against the Jets. Which is likely. Roto had pace of play among the lowest of the games tomorrow. Less plays, less points.

Genuinely concerned that Julio is going to get Schaubed.

Crazy to think Metcalf might be a better play on the opposite side of the field this week.  :wall:

The mind-blowing statistical improbability of Matt Schaub’s pick-six problem (December 6, 2015)

Ravens quarterback Matt Schaub continues to struggle with interceptions returned for touchdowns, adding another pick-six to his career totals in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Schaub has now thrown a pick-six in each of the last three games he has played, and that includes both his starts for Baltimore this season. What’s crazier, is that Schaub is now closing in on equaling his streak of four-straight games with a pick-six, an NFL record he set in 2013.

@ESPNStatsInfo

Matt Schaub has thrown a pick-six in each of the last 3 games he has played (today, last week at Browns, 2014 Week 13)

@Phil_Sports

Matt Schaub's last nine starts: 6 pick-sixes, 4 TDs

Interceptions are statistically fluky events, with a defense having little control over when and where they happen, but in Schaub’s case, it certainly seems like he is making it easier for the defense than it should be.

This season, as of the end of Week 12, the chances of seeing a pick-six on any given pass attempt was 0.3 percent. Schaub has two in 62 attempts as of the end of the first half of today’s contest, giving him a 3.2 percent rate — 10 times what we would expect from an average pass.

Since 2013, there have been 151 interceptions returned for touchdowns, giving you an 11 percent chance of seeing one in any given game. If we go with the assumption that all games and quarterbacks are equal, that puts the chances of Schaub throwing a pick-six in each of his last three games at 0.13 percent, or a 1-in-751 chance.

The odds of a quarterback throwing pick-sixes in four straight games is 6,830-to-1. The odds of the same quarterbackthrowing pick-sixes in four straight games twice in his career is that squared, almost 4,000 times worse than being struck by lightning (12,000 to 1).

Maybe the change will give Julio a boost. Currently in the midst of another one of those streaks that we don't talk about.

I honestly had no idea that he was still in the league.

I'm in desperate need of a RB. Going to comb the WW to see if Arian Foster is available...

I get why he wrote what he did given the Falcons' season is pretty much done.

But this was the worst hot take I've seen in quite a while.

Not like Schaub is a rook who could benefit from the snaps, and I literally hate any actual or suggested purposeful tanking just for draft picks. That kind of approach takes the professional out of professional sports, and while objectively solid gamesmanship, has no place in sports.

Matt Ryan QB, Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan has been ruled out for Week 8 against the Seahawks.

This will be Ryan's first missed start in over a decade. His ankle injury wasn't worth playing through with the Falcons out of the playoff picture, especially with a Week 9 bye awaiting. Atlanta will, unfortunately, be starting 38-year-old Matt Schaub, who has 14 passing touchdowns to 20 interceptions since 2013. Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Austin Hooper, and Devonta Freeman's outlooks obviously have to be downgraded for this week.

Oof. That write-up just sounds brutal. Darnold it is.

eta* Nope. It's Schaub.

I have Julio and Carson, so hoping this really works out. The more picks Schaub throws, the faster the Falcons can get to garbage time... which is basically the only time ATL passing game has looked good lately.

Carson should start running clock early 3rd QTR.

I go up against Wilson in one league. I hope this is the case.

Run that clock.

I remember drafting him in 09 in the 8th round. Had a good year that season. How is he still in the league?

It's amazing that he is still in the league. It shows how difficult it is to play the QB position. Either that or there are some guys out there that just never got a fair chance. And yeah Kap is probably one of them. But regardless, fire up the Hawks D. They are not that good either but this guy has no business starting games in the NFL.

More like Carson will be running clock end of 1st qtr.  This game is already over

I need a replacement for Ryan. I have Jimmy G on the bench for next week against Arizona. I may still go to the waiver wire, but if you're in on Schaub, that's all I need to know. I'm out. ha.

Schaub with 460 yards passing, 1 td and 1 int. Winston 278 yards and  counting with 2 tds. Tannehilll with 193 yards and 3 tds.

Darnold with some  bad picks today.

Matt Schaub completed 39-of-52 passes for 460 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Falcons' Week 8 loss to the Seahawks.

The 460 yards were the third-most in Schaub's 15-year career. The Falcons offense lacked explosion and mostly racked up yards while trailing multiple scores, but Schaub deserves at least some credit. He was able to take what was given to him, which allowed for Julio Jones and Austin Hooper to walk away with rock-solid fantasy lines. The Schaub experience will likely come to an end after the Falcons come out of their Week 9 bye, but we'll always have the memories of this one.

Yep. A reasonable day for all three, really. One league I'm in it was 21.4 Schaub, 21.1 Winston, 21 Tannehill.

Very close.
