I didn't see the hit - how bad did it look?I'm no doctor, but is it possible that it's just a bruise?

BS! Matt Stafford's got game, Charles Rogers was just lame.Stafford really needs to shut it down the the year and hit the weight room hard all offseason. He needs some more bulk up top to protect himself.Matt Stafford = Charles RogersJust saying.
Leg tackle, no pressure from defender up top, just fell on the right shoulder. Didn't look any different than any other tackle where a player would land on his shoulder. The announcers were noticing body language and grimacing by Stafford leading upto it, so maybe he aggravated it and it got progressively worse until he was forced to leave the game.I didn't see the hit - how bad did it look?I'm no doctor, but is it possible that it's just a bruise?

Unfortunately for Lions fans this seems accurate. We should just pin this thread for the entirety of Stafford's career, so we won't have to make new threads each time he gets a new injury.
Ridiculous.Sammy Traveller said:Matt Stafford = Charles RogersJust saying.
Yup. So far the Lions haven't been able to protect Stafford with a better offensive line but the Rams have. It's early though.Bri said:This Stafford concern seems like how some were a little concerned about Bradford's injury.
Lions: Stafford doesn't need shoulder surgeryCoach Jim Schwartz insisted Monday that the Lions are not considering surgery for Matthew Stafford's injured right shoulder.
Schwartz described Stafford's latest throwing arm injury as different from the one he suffered in Week 1, costing Stafford Weeks 2-6. The initial injury was an AC joint separation. Said Schwartz, "Hopefully we can get some soreness out and we can get him back throwing. I don't know when that will be." Stafford had an MRI Monday, but the results haven't been revealed and may not be due to the Lions' secretive policy on injuries. We can't imagine he'll be available for Week 10 against the Bills. I knew we would get something vague and minimal. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that it's a different injury. I am hoping it's just a shoulder bruise. Now even if he plays we're burdened with the chance of him not finishing the game.Lions: Stafford doesn't need shoulder surgeryCoach Jim Schwartz insisted Monday that the Lions are not considering surgery for Matthew Stafford's injured right shoulder.

I'd guess that its better than the AC separation. I expect they would have IR'd him if it was. If its just a bruise I think Eli played with that during their superbowl year.I knew we would get something vague and minimal. You dont cut players like Stafford unless its certain he is out. He is a beast when he is healthy and his schedule is not that bad down the stretch. You have to wait and see if the Lions are full of it or not.Ok, soooooo........ CUT HIM? {Because the Lions are full of it and he really won't be playing for a few weeks at least}....... -Or- Hold? {Because heck he could play Week 11}?
Thanks; before reading this I had already thought about it and pulled my waiver drops.I had really banked on Stafford and believe in his ability, but I'm really wondering whether the Lions are being straightforward with reporting his condition. You dont cut players like Stafford unless its certain he is out. Yea guarded here as to what the truth really is but as said earlier, at 2-6, wouldn't they just IR him if this was really serious? Shoulders can be confusing anyway so it may be a few more days at least before they really know the extent of the damage, no?The real guts of this is can he stay healthy for even 1 game? You dont cut players like Stafford unless its certain he is out. Hard to believe, our resident injury expert says he's done for the year.>>>From Ford: "Quarterback’s shoulder, you got to get worried. But prognosis seems to be all right, so we just keep our fingers crossed"<<<
From the owner himself. Encouraging. (I think).

I think Stafford is done for the year, they showed a clip and it looks like he re dislocated his shoulder. Stick a fork in him.
if you're in a redraft league, he reinjured his shoulder, which would probably mean another 6-8 week recovery time, plus it was only a simple tackle and there was so much pain on his face its obvious he's donedrm1125 said:Any word on how bad he's hurt this time?
Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said PK Jason Hanson (knee) will miss some time and that the team will work out some free agent kickers, reports Dave Birkett, of the Detroit Free Press. Analysis: Hanson was roughed up by the Jets on a field goal attempt and had to leave the game temporarily, while DT Ndamukong Suh stepped in to kick an extra point for him. Suh hit the ball solid but dinged it off the right goalpost. Free-agent K Shayne Graham is expected to work out for Detroit today, as could a couple others. Not wanting to start another thread on a kicker.. so anyone know about Hanson's injury?
I'm not sure the 2-6 thing applies here. The Lions need victories, regardless of their playoff chances. I agree that they won't risk their QB for nothing, but the season's only half over and there is no way they can tell their fans "they're being careful with him and playing for next year".Yea guarded here as to what the truth really is but as said earlier, at 2-6, wouldn't they just IR him if this was really serious? They will not rush him back, regardless of the frustration, the Lions ARE playing for next year already. They have played better this year, they are showing promise but they are still 2-6. 2-6 is a crappy record and with Stafford out, it will only get crappier. You're looking at a top 5 pick here again.I'm not sure the 2-6 thing applies here. The Lions need victories, regardless of their playoff chances. That depends entirely on just exactly what Stafford's injury is so we are way ahead of the game making any predictions like this. They will not rush him back, regardless of the frustration, the Lions ARE playing for next year already. They have played better this year, they are showing promise but they are still 2-6. 2-6 is a crappy record and with Stafford out, it will only get crappier. You're looking at a top 5 pick here again.
I still have Kitna but I'm not happy with having him as my only option. I'll put in a waiver claim for Troy Smith, while at the same time I attempt to work a trade for Shaun Hill from a guy who has carried him for most of the year as his QB3. Likely will cost me Aaron Hernandez to get Hill.I just wish we knew how bad this injury is but with the lions, it may be a bunch of he might play each week for weeks! Thinking about picking up Freeman and trying to play matchups with him and Fitzpatrick. What are other owners doing? I hate the idea of 3 QB's on my team, it'll mean half my bench are QB's.
This worries me the most. But come playoff time you also don't want him landing on some other team's roster.I'm awaiting the 2nd opinion to come in from Andrews at least.I just wish we knew how bad this injury is but with the lions, it may be a bunch of he might play each week for weeks! Stafford had shoulder issues at Georgia?Dr. Bill Koy told me today that he wouldn't be surprised if they shut Stafford down the rest of the year. Dr. Koy is a noted surgeon and worked with Stafford during his time at Georgia....I'll keep you posted
So we saw every second before and after but missed them popping the shoulder in? I guessed that was it earlier.
