I kid you not, there is a buzz in Jax about giving Jones-Drew a nickname and one of the radio stations is holding a contest and the above listed have all been mentioned.

Although Maurice was known as Maurice Jones throughout college, he changed his name to Jones-Drew. Does anyone know why? A suggestion has been made that his agent tried to "register" his name with an Actor's union and Maurice Jones was already taken hence the addition of Drew.

His name is Maurice Drew, not Maurice Jones. In his last year at UCLA, his grandfather - whose last name was Jones - passed away at the Rose Bowl during one of his games. He was very close with his grandfather and to honor him, added "Jones" to his jersey. It stuck and he kept it there for the NFL.
