Max Starts by Position (1 Viewer)

I am relatively new to fantasy baseball (played the past 2 years), but have never had a maximum start by position until this year. Looks like position maximums are as follows:

162 starts at each hitting position (3 OF = 486 total starts)

8 pitchers 160 starts

League is a 5x5 roto with daily lineups.

So how does this change your philosophy when there are no maximums, if at all?

I don't know that I've ever played in a league without game maxes, but I'd guess the strategy won't change a ton for you, at least not with batters. Streaming pitchers isn't an option, but other than that, it's probably not much different. You have your "starters" and rotate bench guys in when there's an open spot and/or they've got a good matchup.

With batters, with injuries and days off, you're probably best served to go ahead and put in your good bench players quite often when there's room. Especially early in the season when there are a bunch of days off. If you get way behind on a position, it can be very hard to catch up, but you can always dial it back later in the season if you get too far ahead.

For this reason, I generally carry a ton of hitters early in the season.

For pitching, I generally think it's best to stay a tad behind the IP/GS limit early in the season. It's very easy to catch up later and, I could be wrong, but it seems far easier to find soft match-ups late in the season with call-ups and teams playing for nothing.
