McGahee says he's... (1 Viewer)

Either the stats from 2001 tell us who the better RB is or they don't. I'd say they don't.
Right. We got sidetracked on stats, but back to the original point in this thread . . . I think McGahee may be a top two RB in terms of talent. I think it's between McGahee and Priest for the #2 spot behind Tomlinson.
I don't know what talent means, but I'd say McGahee is certainly in consideration for being the second best RB in the NFL. Of course, I'm still not convinced to this day that McGahee is the best RB from his class.
:lmao: :loco: :wall:
Are you really convinced?Career numbers:

209 carries, 1,010 yards, 4.8 YPC, 14 TDs, 7 20+ runs, 56 first downs;

26 receptions, 319 yards, 12.3 YPR, 2 TDs, 4 20+ catches

vs.

422 carries, 1,732 yards, 4.1 YPC, 17 TDs, 14 20+ runs, 101 first downs;

33 receptions, 229 yards, 6.9 YPR, 0 TDs, 0 20+ runs

I don't think it's a :IBTL: one way or the other as to which RB is better.

Oh, Larry Johnson. I thought he was talking about Quentin Griffin.

Maybe he should have said that if I had not been so injured I wound easily be the best back in the NFL right now, all things considered of course. Like the the other RB's teams QB's and offenses. All the other RB's mentioned are in much better situations than Willis is. And lets not forget how bad this kid was hurt in the Fiesta Bowl vs Ohio State. He was set back three years and probably a half second on his forty. Had he came out of the game unscathed, he may be saying I am the best back EVER, case closed. All this says is that this kid knows how good he is and how much damage he is going to do before he's done. Something any of us should have known while watching him play in college and then working his ### off trying to get all the way back. Guy is a beast and he is getting better, again. I personally would like to see Willis finish of more of his drives with TD's. I have seen most of his game this year and he has left at least 5-6 TD's on the field so far and that must change before he can say he is the best and it should change soon.

Funny - I don't ever recall Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Joe Montana (and many other players who possessed exceptional skills) EVER tooting their OWN horn, so loudly, in the media. Must be that they found other, more "classy" ways to 'self-motivate'.
Sure you could point out those guys. And I could point out Muhammad Ali, Shaq, and Babe Ruth. All of whom were great,a nd not afraid to tell you about it.Doesn't really prove anything.

LT2 is by far the best RBSA slightly edges out LT's numbers in recent history.Does anyone really disagree with these 2 statements? I feel like we're arguing in circles and nobody really disagrees all that much- its just semantics.

What about Lee Suggs?

SA slightly edges out LT's numbers in recent history.

MT disagrees with that last statement, because Tomlinson's career VBD is higher than Alexanders. Additionally, he claims (he's probably right, but I haven't checked) that LT's numbers are better over the last 24 games than Alexander.It's not really that important, because the numbers change on a weekly basis. I do think it's interesting however.

I didn't do any actual addition -- I just eyeballed the fact that LT's last two games in 2003 were huge, and SA's weren't.

Man I love it. LT comes out and says he is going to go for 2000+ rushing and it's nothing more than a distinct reality and a great player showing conifidence. McGahee says he thinks he is the best RB in the NFL and he is disrespectful. I'll tell you what, every stinking RB in the NFL should have the attitude that he is the best one in the league. Isn't that why they compete in the 1st place, to be the best. Striving for and being content with anything less would be foolilsh.
:goodposting:
:goodposting: I'll second that and be more likely to check in on this game now to see if he can back it up.

:goodposting: Here's another one. You guys need to quit your crying.

Sounds like a lot of you have never actually PLAYED football. It is a violent, competitive sport and you need a ton of confidence to excel. McGahee did NOT say anything negative about any other player. He only spoke positively about himself. That is perfectly fine. Had he said "LT is a poser and is just a lucky SOB, and SA is only good because of that O-line" - that would be insulting someone else.

Frankly, it is not outside the realm of possibility that McGahee IS the best (not saying he is, I favor LT), but all backs ahead of him in the top 5 (LT, SA, Edge, Priest) have CONSIDERABLY better O-lines, QBs, and WRs. Put Willis in Seattle or KC and I bet he could make a case for the number 2 spot behind LT. (for those of you that are illiterate I said he could make a case, not that he definitely would be number 2).

:boxing:

Well it's a good thing this comment didn't come up and bite McGahee on the ###. He wasn't even the best RB on the field today. :thumbdown:

-- Mularkey Talks to McGahee --

Thu Nov 24, 2005 --from FFMastermind.com

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports Buffalo Bills HC Mike Mularkey has spoken to RB Willis McGahee about his bragging. McGahee's boast that he thinks he's the best running back in the NFL has come back to haunt the Bills. Since making that comment a month ago before Buffalo played at Oakland, McGahee has topped 100 yards only once in four games and has two fumbles. The Bills are 1-3 in that stretch. McGahee has fallen to sixth overall in rushing with 895 yards, and Mularkey has spoken to McGahee about inner confidence. "It's been at least a month ago (since he made the comment) and it won't go away," Mularkey said. "Unfortunately when you say things like that it is bulletin board material. We use it anytime we get an opportunity ... Any time you can find a motivating tool you're going to use that to your advantage and I told that to Willis. I like his confidence, I like that he believes that; you better believe that you're the best. To me, confidence is half this game. But I'd rather you do it in your play and let people see it ... just don't say it."

Even if McGahee never got hurt, he is not in the same stratosphere as LT, geeziz people.He is fractionally as talented as LT.The only thing McGahee has proved is that he's truly an idiot's idiot. LT is rare folks, what u are witnessing is the best Rb of our generation ,a faster & quicker Emmit Smith.The McGahee apologists are clowns.
