McNabb (1 Viewer)

Why are McNabbs TD numbers so low in comparison to his output in yards? Is the team stalling out around the red zone or are they giving it to the backs to run in for the score? Is this just Shanahan and a conservative game plan or has McNabbs abilities faded this much? Do you see it turning around?

He has no receivers, Santana Moss is no longer a #1. Armstrong is young but still makes mistakes, Cooley has been injured. I'm frustrated by McNabb's low TD, hoping he gets in sync more in the 2nd half but i'm not confident he will. Plus

I've seen McNabb miss on some long bombs to his WR's and Ive also seen His WR miss routes or drop possible long TD's

He's on pace for 19-20 TDs, which is right in the range of where he was projected.I would have been shocked if he put up BETTER stats in Washington than he'd been putting up in Philly the last couple of years.
He is on pace for 13-14 tds. He has 6tds in 7 games. Watching some of the Redskins this year, Mcnabb struggles in the Red Zone. I am a bit concerned about him also, but he should improve as the season goes on.

McNabb has only 6 TD's in 7 weeks of play, how does that equate to 19-20 Tds for his projections?

:bag: I read the stat wrong.(Makes me feel a bit better about trading McNabb, however :wall: )

Low TD totals is bad but the fact that he also has 7 interceptions and 3 fumbles doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Not sure why you think his passing yards is high either as he only went above 300 twice this year. This is a conservative offense that prefers to run the ball and control the game rather than the pass happy offense we hoped for.

Yeah your right, his passing yards are not that high either more middle of the pack at 1761 yards. That puts him in 12th position among QB's in passing yards. Still it is a lot better than his TD output.

They currently rank 9th in Pass:Run ratio, with 61.4% of their plays being pass plays (pass attempts + sacks). They are actually passing more than I expected. They had some success earlier in the season with play action and bootlegs, but defenses are starting to catch on to that and those plays are getting blown up.

I looked it up after I posted. You're right, he's 7th in terms of pass attempts but his completion percentage is only 58% so it seemed lower plus it's only 7.26 yards per pass (15th). I still wouldn't be quick to say this means they are a pass happy offense though. In the beginning of the year they were ineffective running the ball but it seems like they are doing better with Torain. Also, they tend to run a more balanced game when they get the lead and only threw a lot when they were losing to teams like GB and IND. Although their defense hasn't been playing that well this year, if they start pulling it together and if Torain keeps running well, I don't think I see much reason for McNabb to start looking like a stud anytime soon.Oh, and despite the fact that they are 31st in yards per game they are 9th in terms of points allowed so they don't need to score that much so Mcnabb doesn't really need to have monster games for them to win.

look at what the QBs he left behind in philly are doing. hes not a great qb he was just in one of the most qb friendly offenses ever

On a positive note, he plays the Lions this week. For me, a bye week replacement. Would love to see 300 and 3.

But hasn't that always been his MO? He has two seasons in his career of 25 TDS and above, yet always seems to be able to hit for roughly 3300 yards and above when he is healthly...tough guy to amortize stats for due to his injury history. I think this is status quo with him. Sure, he "should" even out and hit 20 TDs or so, but even if he doesn't, it should not be much of a surprise. No clue why this is the case, but it would not surprise me when all is said and done if he ranks much higher in yards for his career overall compared to the rest of the QBs, than passing TDs.
