Agree on Meachem taking some time to get in. I think he'll see the field early as the 4th recevier in spread formations, but won't be a starter til the last portion of the season.

I honestly don't see Meachum sniffing the starting lineup until midseason at the earliest.
Do you mean as a #2 WR? I'm thinking you do but I just want to understand your thinking. And in general why do you think this? New Orleans seems kinda thin at WR after Colston.
Yes, I mean as the WR2 opposite Marques Colston.I keep hearing about how thin the Saints are at WR [and it's not just on the boards, but by beat writers too] and that bewilders me.The Saints led the NFL last year in completions (373), passing yards (4,626) and were 4th in TDs (27). The lost Joe Horn who played only 10 games and made a major impact in exactly three of them. It's perfectly reasonable to expect Colston (2nd year), Henderson (3rd year), and Copper (4th year) to be on the upswing. Does this look like a team in need of a major contribution from Meachum?
and why don't they need a major contribution from meachem? horn is gone. i doubt bush will match his numbers (especially if he still can't break an arm tackle). henderson is a poor man's lelie. copper has caught 31 passes in 3 years. who's going to be the #2? henderson? colston #1, meachem #2, and henderson doing his lelie as #3.

Meachem COULD be the #2, after all, Marques Colston was the #1 last year as a rookie and his pedigree was far less impressive. That said, rookie WRs don't generally blossom like that; and I have difficultly believing lightning struck twice for the Saints in that regard.I think they need a contribution from Meachem, certainly, but I also think you're doing Devery Henderson an IMMENSE disservice by comparing him to Ashley Lelie.

I don't recall Colston being named the #1. Horn was still the titular #1, even if Colston's production surpassed his game to game. Once Horn started missing time due to injuries then the perception about Colston changed. As for WR2, I think last year it was fairly flexible. Outside of a few big games, neither Copper nor Henderson showed much. While Meachum is learning the playbook they (Copper, Henderson & Patten even) might be ahead of him on the depth chart. However, I think it will be there for the taking, just as it was for Colston. It comes down to talent and in that department Meachum looks to be head and shoulders above any of those guys. Henderson and Copper are playing out their contracts (both are FA's next year), so the incentive is their for them to do more. All things being equal, I think talent prevails here. All that being said, what WR2 means to the Saints and what that means in terms of FF production are up in the air...
