#metoo Movement (1 Viewer)

Consensual sexual conduct between Clinton and Lewinsky is worse than grabbing women by the ##### and forcing yourself on them?

And people wonder why there's a MeToo movement.

If we are to believe Trump has behaved properly with women, why does he so often associate with men with long histories of sexual misconduct towards women?  Why did he go to the mat for Bill O’Reilly and Roy Moore?  Why does he feel the need to call Rob Porter’s ex-wives liars?

because he is a firm believer in due process and the rule of law~!@~! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

sorry, thought I could type that with a straight face

ok, Harvey Weinsteing ... in your opinion guilty or innocent?

jail isn't the only way a person is punished in the world, its safe I think to say he's guilty, there will never be a trial, never face charges and yet, Weinstein has lost a great deal and he should

you see what I mean though?  its not the way it used to be - look at TobiaFunke and his insistence with Trump. Never a trial, a court session, no jail and yet, he has his mind set on Trump ... why ? Because to him, the accusations he's read, the things he's read, that's enough and it is what he needs to damn Trump to eternal hell  .........
No, you are not being very clear in what you mean; perhaps that is because of the multiple different posters who are engaging you, but going back and forth between sexual harassment/assault and DUI/police mistakes/abuse, white privilege, guilt, public opinion, etc, you aren't easy to follow.

As far as Trump goes, he has had almost 2 dozen women accuse him of harassment, assault, or abuse.  His own words (in the Billy Bush tape, quoted as telling his friends to be "rougher with their wives," bragging "And so I sort of get away with things like that" with regards to walking into the women's changing rooms during his Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants) support the idea that he does sexually harass/assault women, so I'm not inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt with regards to this matter.

Based on that list?  No. However, I think that’s up to the two parties involved to determine

He’s not even accused of pushing himself on someone for career advancement.  This is so tame compared to Weinstein.  Obviously, I’m a Trump Guy but wow.  He’s getting railroaded.
Do you think Trump has never been accused of sexual harassment?  There isn’t a sealed court settlement buried somewhere detailing Trump paying off an accuser or two to go away in exchange for silence?

I just saw anecdotal stuff as it came out   The timing was suspicious to me.
His comments on the Billy Bush tape don't indicate sexual harassment, at the very least?  His own words about telling his friends to be rougher with their wives doesn't indicate sexual abuse (or at least domestic abuse)?  His comments to Howard Stern about "getting away" with walking into the changing rooms of his Miss USA/Miss Teen USA pageants don't indicate harassment?

I get the timing being suspicious, I really do.  But when you have the man, in his own words (not hearsay, a witness, etc) describing how he engages in behaviors that would be considered sexual assault (grab them by the p##sy), sexual harassment (walking into changing rooms, forcing contestants to rank the "hotness" of other contestants, which made them uncomfortable-which is the definition of sexual harassment), and advising domestic abuse, how do those things not outweigh the suspiciousness of the timing?

Honestly, I’ve never poured over the accusations.  Now that I look at the list these are all booty grabs, boob brushes, hands up dresses, stolen kisses and barging in dressing rooms.  Nowhere that I saw in these stories did they say stop and he kept going.  He did not stalk and there appears to be no traditional rapes except Ivana’s recanted story.  Did he act like a 13 year old? Yes.  Has the media played up these incidents of sophomoric behavior?  Of course

However, this is not Ted Bundy like many of you want to paint him to be.
Holy ####.  This is exactly the problem and the whole reason for the metoo movement.  Completely inappropriate behavior (booty grabs, stolen kisses, hands up dresses) is just supposed to be written off as childish behavior.  ITS INAPPROPRIATE!! And unacceptable.  No if ands or buts about it.  It’s not acceptable with a 13 year old and it certainly isn’t acceptable with a full grown man.

I don’t care where someone falls on the political spectrum, it has absolutely nothing to do with it my disgust, but to support this behavior just because someone lines up with your political beliefs is despicable.

Or, if you based your conclusions on the things people actually posted here, Trump is somewhere in the gigantic space between “innocent man getting railroaded” and “Ted Bundy”.

(Trump the sexual predator, that is; Trump the self-dealing traitor may occupy a penthouse higher than Bundy’s floor.)

Were you there?  In all of these instances you never saw “I said no.”   How do we know he did not see most of these as consensual at the time.  Trump is s playboy that ran in circles none of us could imagine.   I think YOU are the type that wants to throw the book at Trump because you dislike his politics.  Have you ever had a buddy make out with a woman he just met at a bar?  Did you judge him the same way?

Perhaps you should look up the definition of sexual harassment.  A person in power (say the person who runs a beauty pageant, owner of a company, star of a TV show, etc) who makes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.  There is no mention of the victim having to say stop.  If it makes someone uncomfortable, it is sexual harassment.  If it wasn't, then I could just walk up to every female at my work and "grab them by the pu##y" until they told me to stop.  It would still be sexual harassment/assault, even if they hadn't verbalized the word stop.

And, by the way, Isn't this exactly what he criticized Al Franken for doing?  A picture of him grabbing a boob?  Why is it OK for our POtuS to do it, but when he sees someone else (from the other party) do it, it's a horrible offense?

I don’t think every man is guilty.  I think Trump is guilty because his words, actions, and financial settlements suggest he’s guilty of a sufficiently large sample of the crimes he’s been accused of committing.

Trump watches TV all day and eats cheeseburgers in bed at 6:30.  He’s more like the average FFA poster than most millionaires.

False false and false.   In my reply I said nothing to the accuracy of the claims. You were the one who wrote the behavior off as a 13 -year-old behavior and made it acceptable. Secondly my disgust as I said before has absolutely nothing to do with his politics. Character matters. Plain and simple. I have no friends that are married and act that way because those type of people arent my friends. My friends and I don’t brag to each other about grabbing women’s #######. That is not the type of behavior that I condone or surround myself with. That’s called character. The difference is I walk what I talk. Well actually that’s not the difference between Trump and I, we both seem to do that.

Well he said he didn’t do it.  There is no proof of him grabbing anyone.  Franken had photographic proof against him.

Would a person who really was a victim of sexual harassment on multiple occasions and was really passionate about victims of sexual crimes getting justice really say “he said he didn’t do it”, shrug the shoulders, and tell others to get over it?

Would a person who really was a victim of sexual harassment on multiple occasions and was really passionate about victims of sexual crimes getting justice really spend so little time on accusations of sexual misconduct against a major party candidate for President Of the United States, dismissing them out of hand because of the timing?

You know, you can believe that lots of women get assaulted/harassed on the regular, and that not enough women's complaints are  believed or taken seriously, AND ALSO believe that not every man is guilty.

It doesn't really matter in determining whether it was an assault whether he viewed it as consensual. If some misogynistic idiot views "walking around in a short skirt" as consent, he's still a rapist.

That person would know better than most and understand how difficult it is to provide proof. That person would have lived through it and probably have a better sense than most what is BS and what isn’t.

Stop! would generally let you know it is unwelcome...

You are the attorney.  Is it rape without intercourse?  Which one of the 19 actions is “rape?”

It shouldn't be compared to anything.  It's perfectly acceptable to evaluate the incidents on their own.  This comparison nonsense is just poorly veiled deflection tactics.

I didn't say it was.  My apologies for being unclear - I was suggesting that everyone knows that having intercourse with someone who doesn't say "no" because you view it as consensual doesn't mean it isn't rape.  Similarly, sexual assault actions aren't not sexual assault actions just because some idiot views them as consensual.

I asked because you referred to Trump as a rapist.  Has he legally committed rape based on the stories?

I guess claiming “deflect” is your schtick.  Enjoy.
Label it what you want...willful ignorance, purposeful obtuseness, whatever.....deflection seemed like the kindest way to say it, so I went with that

Anything to avoid looking at the actual issue.  It's strong in a lot of you :hophead:  types.  You're giving squis a run for his money.

Ivana recanted those allegations and I am not familiar with the other situation.  Was it part of the 19 allegations?
I get that it’s easier to defend Trump if you don’t know all the facts, but the low level of knowledge you’re claiming to have about Trump is incredible.

Anyway, Trump says he didn’t do it.  That’s all you need to know.

whenever I am a little worried that I may be in a liberal bubble, it's nice to check-in with what some of the thoughtful conservative voices on this board have to say.  Yankee, Ivan, Andy D., and Commish, among others.

I'm always a little fascinated where you have threads in which those guys are agreeing with liberals like of Henry Ford, Tobias, Bruce D., scoob, etc.  I think this thread may be one of them.

Ivana did not recant those allegations, she stopped calling it rape.  But the description of events - which are rape- has never been recanted.

Some things didn’t used to be partisan.

I agree that Trump isn't Bundy and I don't think I have heard anyone paint him as a serial killer who should be executed or sent to life in prison for these things. It is still sexual harrassment. If you worked for me and grabbed your butt, brushed up against your pribates put my hand up your shorts, forced a kiss on you, walked in on you while you were changing in a private locker room would you just consider that 13 year old sophomoric behavior? You would just laugh it off as locker room antics?

Well he said he didn’t do it.  There is no proof of him grabbing anyone.  Franken had photographic proof against him.
He said he didn’t do it?  In his own words, he said “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.  Grab ’em by the #####. You can do anything.”  And, also in his own words, I tell friends who treat their wives magnificently, get treated like crap in return, Be rougher and you’ll see a different relationship.”  But wait there’s more, also in his own words, “You know, they're standing there with no clothes. 'Is everybody OK?' And you see these incredible-looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that."

Those are his words, not accusations made by another person.  He admitted to his acts of harassment, opinions about domestic abuse, and sexual assault, BEFORE others came forward.  Then, after the fact, he tries to walk it back.  It doesn’t work that way.  If a cop hears a guy bragging about stealing a car, then 19 people come forward and say they saw the guy stealing cars in exactly the way he bragged about, the “I was just bull ####ting” defense isn’t very plausible.

2-6% is not extremely rare. Someone is assulted every 100 seconds in the US. That would mean someone is falsely accused every nine minutes. I wouldn’t consider that rare at all, let alone extremely rare.

My math may not be 100 percent accurate, but my point is, your 1. is flat out wrong.
This post popped into my head today.

Someone assaulted every 100 seconds isn’t the same as someone being reported to law enforcement every 100 seconds.

It’s not the arithmetic that’s off, it’s the complete application of statistics.
