Mewelde Moore.. (1 Viewer)

Moore is a poor man's Kevin Faulk. He'll get you some rush yards. He'll catch a few balls. He's a fill in if your desperate this week.

He's a very sneaky play in dynasty leagues. He's an unrestricted free agent after this season. He's demonstrated more than enough talent to perform at an extremely high level when given the opportunities (4.9 career ypc, much of that coming in games where he was the featured back). He never got a fair shake in Minnesota because he got into the doghouse early. There's always a chance that he goes somewhere else, wins the starting job, and turns his career around. It's not very likely, but for a guy who's widely available on waivers, it's enough for me to claim him. Production = Talent + Opportunity, right? Well, MeMo has the talent in spades. As an UFA, it's just a question of whether he's going to finally get the opportunity.

If it hasn't happened for him yet, it NEVER will. His opportunity passed him by.

Throw Mewelde on the scrap heap of RB's who didn't take an opportunity when it was presented to them. Doug Chapman, Michael Bennett, Onterrio Smith, Mewelde Moore....sense the common theme here?

 In a redraft? Fagheddaboutit. In a dynasty? Buy buy buy.Moore isn't a great back, but he's performed pretty well in the NFL. If you go back and look at his track record in games where he received at least 10 carries you'll notice that he put up some decent numbers. He's also a very good receiver. Some people consider him more of a third-down back, but he's plenty big for featured duty at about 210 pounds. Consider some of the teams that will probably need RB help next season: AtlantaGreen BayClevelandSeattleHoustonOakland NYJ Chicago Arizona Moore could start for Chicago, Seattle, Cleveland, or Green Bay right now. He would be a factor in Arizona, Houston, or NYJ if they decided to let their aging starters go. He could get RBBC touches in Oakland or Atlanta. Some of these spots will be filled with the high-profile rookies and others will be taken by free agents like Julius and Turner, but Moore is a good football player and I'd bet good money that someone will sign him. If he gets lucky and lands somewhere like Seattle or Green Bay then he'd instantly become a top 20 RB. So while I wouldn't bank on him ever amounting to much, I like his chances to increase in value over the next 6-12 months.

The new coaching staff came in last year and brought in their own back. Then they drafted Peterson this year. I don't think you can necessarily blame Mewelde Moore for either of those things. Obviously if he was an elite talent the team probably wouldn't have made those moves, but he's still a good enough player to sneak his way into a prominent role for an NFL team.If he was really a scrub like you suggest then he wouldn't still be collecting an NFL paycheck. Guys like Fargas, Graham, Moore, Dayne, Betts, and Watson stick around the league for a reason. They might not be elite players, but they can perform when they get an opportunity.

Think about how many good RB's are coming into the league next year and think about MM ability. I doubt he ever gets a starting job but if could be worth something in PPR leagues if he goes to the right situation.

It has never been about MM's ability; he has ability, especially as a catching back. I could see him fitting in well in PHI or DET as a backup to WEsty or KJ. His problem has been staying healthy. That's not an unusual problem for RBs in the NFL and doesn't mean he couldn't stay healthy in the future. I think he will get a chance as a RB2 somewhere and given how often backs get hurt, that means he will likely get a chance again to start.
