MFL complaints (1 Viewer)

I switched from rtsports and I gotta say there are numerous things I dont like about MFL. #1 is the most egregious.

1. I am the commish of the league. I signed up as commish and under transactions it shows you what players everybody is bidding on. It doesnt show you how much they bid on them. I just discovered this yesterday. Is there anyway to block that out cuz as commish I think thats a really unfair advantage for myself. Now obviously I won't go there anymore but Id like it to be foolproof and have no one accuse me of cheating.

2. The site is very blah. I tried customizing it but its still bland. rtsports just seemed more "alive"

3. Proposed trades arent pronounced enough. rtsports put a giant "sticky" on another teams homepage when a trade was proposed. On this site all it does is send an email and update the proposed trades # (which I have moved to the top of our homepage cuz people were ignoring trades).

4. It doesnt update the Live Scoring matchups until Saturday. I liked rtsports changed to the next weeks matchups on Wednesdays. Not a big deal just a minor pet peeve.

Overall MFL offers much better functionality and Im not complaining too much but #1 seems really bad.

go to your abilities and you can turn it off.

For commissioner/Setup/Abilities setup/

at the bottom select

Yes, the commissioner will give up his ability to view pending owner-initiated transactions.

ETA: they have forums also and they can help you with any issue you have. also make sure you use my support tickets and you get a rep to help you.

1- The commish needs to turn off the setting where he can see the waivers. Maybe your commish is shady?

The other complaints are

After signing on as the commish, go to For Commissioners / Setup, then choose Abilities Setup, then look for Commissioner Lockout and make sure the radio button is turned on for Yes, the commissioner will give up his ability to view pending owner-initiated transactions.

Also, MFL is the most customizable of all hosting sites. Go to the MFL Forums and read the customizing threads.
No I realize there is a whole bunch of coding and stuff you can do but I wish I had the time and patience to learn. Im just saying the default menus for MFL vs rtsports is much better for rtsports.

Well its habmans code from the MFL boards. Thus he is the man, he has tons of great stuff over there that you should check out. When you put the above code into your site you will see this trade notification every time you log on. Enjoy

Pretty cool! Can you direct me exactly where to do this message? Is it in a dropdown? I need to have my commish do this but he's not really into sprucing up the site too much.

The problem is that anyone who's not the commish is not protected. There doesn't seem to be a way for the league to know when the commish has the no peeking settings enabled. I can't imagine a reason that the commish would ever need to see that info prior to the waiver process being completed. Aterwards, everyone should have access to how much everyone bid but before hand, no. This is a flaw in MFL privacy to league members to protect against overly competitive commish's.

Yeah I agree. I dont understand why its the commishes responsibility to set this up and how do the other owners know I locked myself out from viewing this? On rtsports, when other owners did their blind bidding, there was a checkbox to block the commissioner from seeing the bids. I asked that everyone checked that box when they set up their bids.

This is actually another complaint. After the waivers are processed I can see how much everyone bid on everybody which is pretty cool. But how come the other owners cant view this either? Am I missing another setting to allow owners to see this (after the bids are processed)?

I am commish of a couple leagues and generally try to just stay logged in as an owner and not commish to avoid any chance of somebody accusing me of accessing their bids. Plus I have accidentally hit the "perform trade" instead of "propose trade" button a couple times when logged in as commish and that sucks as the entire league then sees your intended trade proposal that you have to reverse.

Yes there is a "Previously Processed Waivers" report where all ownes can see who was bid on and how much.

I disagree. What was bid and who was bid on should be private is of no business to other teams. As fas as the commish seeing them: there should be some trust as to who the commish is.2nd- Jobarules is an alias for shadyrdr?

3rd- when you lock yourself out one of these emails goes to all league members

FDSB Dynasty League Commissioner Lockout Status Change

Your commissioner has given up his ability to see pending transactions in your league. This means that he will no longer be able to:

* perform any functions under the "For Owners" heading.

* log in as your franchise using the league commissioner password.

* view pending transactions on the "Transactions" report.

If you need to be certain that your commissioner does not access any of the above information, you should go to the For Owners > Change Password option and change your franchise password now.

It sends an email as well with the bid $

This is the answer for me as well since when you give up those commish abilities you also lose other abilities that are essential for our league to operate correctly.

1- If I can see it then they should be able to see it, whether you agree or not. Does locking myself out not allow me to see the bids anymore? Thats fine with me.2- yes3- Hope that doesnt bring up any questions from anybody. But honestly it was just a mistake when I set up the league.

You're missing it. In my leagues using MFL, anyone can go into "Reports/Franchise/Previously Processed Waivers" and see every bid that was made by every owner for that week, including losing bids. I'm not the commish so I have no idea if that's something that had to be "turned on" or not.
It's been awhile since I did it, but I believe that it has to be turned on in the franchise abilites setup.

The commish must do it. Its very simple. He just puts the code into the source box on one of the home page messages and then follow the instructions above. If he cant do it let me know, I could do it for you guys in about 5 minutes.Visit Habmans site for some other great codes and I am sure, much better instructions on how to add stuff to your site. He gave me access and I found it. Thanks! Now I just need someone to offer me a trade......although the code looks like it works for trades sent to other owners, but I don't see anything different on my homepage besides the script at the bottom.

Sorry I should have added that you must then add that home page message to your actual home page. You do this by going to: For Commish >>> SET UP>>>HOME PAGE & MODULES SET UP. Then select what ever number home page message you put the code in, and add it to the list. Just put it at the bottom and it will work for every owner.

Every time you give up the ability to see those things, or take it back if you need to for some reason the league will know about it by email. I notified my league that I made the changes of status with a different email saying why I changed it, usually it is to help an owner out who is away from the computer. I had to make draft picks or submit a lineup. To be able to do such things I had to have the priviledge turned on. As far as seeing what everyone bid there is a report that all league members have access to as previously stated.

The problem is that anyone who's not the commish is not protected. There doesn't seem to be a way for the league to know when the commish has the no peeking settings enabled. ask your commish to change it.when he does, an email goes out to the entire league. then he can't change it back without letting everyone know. if you've never received the email, it's likely it's still turned out...

Every time the commish changes this setting an email is sent to the league, basically telling everyone there's been a commish lockout change. As the commish, whenever I have to change the lockout setting to do certain roster functions for other owners, I usually reply to the emal that is sent telling everyone why I changed the setting. That works for everyone.

did not work for me there
I posted this above:Sorry I should have added that you must then add that home page message to your actual home page. You do this by going to: For Commish >>> SET UP>>>HOME PAGE & MODULES SET UP. Then select what ever number home page message you put the code in, and add it to the list. Just put it at the bottom and it will work for every owner.
will the code then appear in text at the foot of every page? it does for me...

it should not. if you are not putting the code into the source then it will. if you are putting on the first page and not the source page you must turn off your advance editor.Advance editor option is found: Appearance Set Up>>>Reports & Other Settings

A couple of gotchas for the popup trade alert

1. Pending trades home page module must be on the home page for this to work.

2. Make sure that your advanced editor is set to "off". Setup -> Reports and other setup -> Other appearance section

Use "Advanced Editor" on league type-in boxes? = No
