Michael Irvin (1 Viewer)

I tend not to watch the pre-game shows anymore, I find I'm watching enough tv during the day with watching 3 games. My Sunday mornings are spent here getting the latest news from FBG.Count me in as one of those who finds Michael Irvin to be loud, obnoxious, and more style than content. I particularly hate the interviews he does where he's buddy/buddy with anyone he interviews. I'd much rather listen to Mort's insider news, or Steve Young because he seems insightful. What ESPN should do is steal Marshall Faulk away from the NFL Network.Christopher
Well said indeed sir..... he is obnoxious, loud, and just flat out ######ed. Hey, that means that he is exactly like Jar-Jar Binks. :lmao:
Not only is he loud, but who the hell told him that tie knot looks cool. Anyone who wears a knot that big in their tie is an idiot.

I'm pretty sure that's were he keeps his stash......... don't hold me to that but that's the word on the street.

Irvin out, Parcells In

I'm surprised so many FBG's enjoy Irvin's "insight". However, I suspect that nobody will miss him now that he's gone. I know I won't.

1 down, 1 to go - Get rid of Sean Salisbury next

From PFT:

Sweet Irony. Michael Irvin gets T.O. on the Cowboys. T.O. causes Bill Parcells to retire from Cowboys. Parcells takes Irvin's job at ESPN.

While I agree with most posters here, Irvan just grates my nerves, I shall miss him.

Two years ago, the Irvan/Young debacle was just great TV. The anger flowing from Steve was priceless. I really thought Steve was just going to throw a right-hook at Michael, before the year ended. Everytime Irvan would "touch" him, I could see Young's face get red as hell.

Good stuff.

This past year (Young surprisingly NOT in studio  ), Irvan still brought his aggrevating style, yet this time, it seemed everyone was rolling their eyes at half the stuff he said. Still funny.

Yes, he sucked, but I will miss him (Now that it is official), and would have prefered "Mush Mouth" Sharpe to be replaced on CBS, then Irvan on ESPN. But that is a topic for another day/thread.

Michael Irvin always reminded me of a bad forum poster - always has to throw his two cents in whether it is completely wrong or blatantly obvious, and thinks that if he keeps saying the wrong thing enough times or with enough passion that it will eventually be right.

Throw in what he represents (cheating, wife-abusing, drug-abusing), his blatant biases towards some athletes, and his inability to articulate his thoughts, and you have one of the worst "analysts" that any pre-game show has ever seen.

Reading this thread, it occured to me that I hadn't watched one pregame show all season, though I never miss the games. I guess I don't really care what any of those guys have to say. Is this normal?
You're not alone. I stopped watching NFL pre-game shows for 2 years now, mostly because I get everything I need to know from sources like the internet, or other cable networks like the NFL Network, or HBO's Inside the NFL during the week. Pre-game shows are a waste of time to me now. I already have enough info from what I've digested during the week. Irvin is a disaster. I resent the new media blurring the line between shock entertainment, and real journalism. The only controversy Irvin stirs is his own. Collinsworth is the one guy who really brings the League's controversies into light. I remember watching a segment of his on Inside the NFL 2 seasons ago that had Marino proudly complimenting him and say "That's why you win Emmy's". Irvin is an embarrassment to his colleagues on the set. ESPN has been screwing the pooch since the Rush Limbaugh experiment that didn't end well. Now fans have to sit through Kornhieser, having had to endure Dennis Miller with ABC. Thank God for people like Steve Sabol and his father Ed, who really know how to present the NFL to the masses. Maybe Sabol should be in charge of everything NFL media wise.

That would probably mean the end of the aforementioned Collinsworth. NFL Films, for all the great work it does, is essentially league propaganda.

ESPN has chosen not to pick up the option on his contract, Irvin said Saturday. But he hardly sounded despondent in a telephone interview from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He said he is looking forward to opportunities to expand a motion picture career that kicked off in 2005 with a role in The Longest Yard.
This is funny.

This thread is about Michael Irvin, chief. Commonly mistaken as Michael Irving. But, this Irvan thing is a first. Are you the guy on those commercials where ESPN helps a dude to learn how to talk about sports with his friends?

I think that Romo comment got him offed. That was way outta line. If Jaws said that, hed be fined.
If Jaworski said something as idiotic as that he would have been fired in less than a week. That is what they should have done with Irvin. Better late than never. I just can't stand the guy and am glad I don't have to see him on ESPN.

Irvin seems like a better fit on a Best Damn Sports Show Period style TV program or on the radio. He's a disaster on any legit NFL coverage though.

:lmao:That's the place to be people who lack talent and would otherwise be unemployable.
