Michael Lewis Forecast for Week Three (1 Viewer)

I was pretty fired up about Michael Lewis preseason and drafted him as my top db (lucky thing I got Bob Sanders near the end of the draft!). I then cut him after his three-tackle performance in week one!

He did a little better last week (6 solos, 1 assist) and I notice that in this week's forecast he's predicted to do quite well (2nd overall by my scoring system--tackle heavy). The only time I got to watch him on TV was week one, when I could never find him! Anyone have a reason to believe that week two was more indicative of his value? He's still available in my league and I'm wondering whether or not I should pick him up.

Thanks!

#1... You cut bait WAY too early; I was just as frustrated as you... but cutting a talent like M Lewis after week 1 is extreme.

#2... the #2 ranked DB is a little high, but he should be top 10 this week... he tied his team last week in lead tackles. 6 solos from a DB is very good... I'l take it every week.

#3... Last week, both Buff safties lead the team in solos against Pitt... which assures that Lewis will get chances.

I think week 2 was closer to what he will do than week 1. He should be a solid play against the Steelers.

You have to exhibit more patience with IDPs. A week or 2 is WAY too early to judge what they will do over a full season. Look into why the numbers were subpar, instead of just saying so and so only had this many tackles, and now it's time to cut them. Often times there are legit reasons for a poor statline.

Thanks for the input!

I am notorious for having absolutely no patience, incidentally (though I have only missed the superbowl 3 times in 13 years, so I guess I'm doing something right--or I play against idiots!). But I also think that it depends a whole lot on what player is under the microscope and, perhaps even more critically, who else is available to put into that roster slot. I immediately replaced Lewis with Archuleta, Atogwe, and Roman Harper, all of whom were available on our waiver wire. You also have to consider whether or not you think you have a good chance of getting that guy back if he does turn it around. There are guys currently on my roster where I am, indeed, waiting to see if they'll recover from slow starts. But Michael Lewis (who burned me last year when he got benched) got a a trip to the coach's office and a nice parting gift!

Thanks again!

It seems like there are a lot of other playmakers on the SF defense now (Willis, a healthy Bryant Young, improved CBs). This makes me wonder if he's going to get the same kind of stats that he has in the past.

Even though I picked him (i.e., Michael Lewis) back up this week, that's precisely my worry. I'm weak at DB, however (other than Bob Sanders, whose season could end at any moment), so I'm taking a shotgun approach and hoping that one or two of them pan out!
