michael robinson on yahoo... (1 Viewer)

i notice on yahoo that michael robinson of the 49ers is listed as a WR/RB.

i am not saying gore is going to get injured, but i do consider him an injury risk.

and i believe i have read that robinson has passed hicks on the depth chart.

if this is so, robinson could be a potentially potent impact on a fantasy squad, not as a RB necessarily, but at WR.

if he would be playing RB in the real world and you could slot him into a WR spot on your squad, i imagine his numbers would be comprable to a very good WR (like housh).

Interesting observation, but I just checked the 49ers official depth chart, and Hicks is still listed as the backup to Gore.

The reason he is listed that way is because many leagues on yahoo allow a position to be filled by a RB or WR. I am in a league on there and that's how mine is. LT2 is also listed as RB/WR. So is Chad Johnson.

no, that isn't true.

just as flavor of the week colston is a TE/WR, robinson is a RB/WR.

i am not sure what kind of league you're in.

an all flex league?

I'm sure it was a lot of preseason hype but I remember seeing/hearing Nolan loved Michael Robinsopn, was thinking about hi mas the GL back. Also remeber hearing that Robinson's strong preseason was why they felt they could deal barlow. This was around the time of Robinsopn's preseason hype peak, where he scored 2 TD's in a game.

Gore's great and he's a wonderful sorty of determination, but the guy is walking hospital. If he were to miss time, what's the best guess as to who takes over– Hicks, Robinson or a split?

From today's News Blogger, Nolan won't commit to who is #2 on the depth chart at this time. I read that as positive news for Michael Robinson.

49ers :: RB

No #2 RB For 49ers

Matt Maiocco, The Press Democrat - [Full Article]

When pressed on who the backup to RB Frank Gore would be if he had to leave the game for some reason, HC Mike Nolan responded, "They're both good backs, I could go with either of them. It depends on the situation. - If he (Gore) broke his left shoe, it might be one back and if he broken his right shoe, it might be another back." So, basically, the 49ers do not have a clear-cut No. 2? "Today, no," Nolan said. "As it goes forward it will answer itself."

Nice.

My guess is that even if Gore were to go down in week 2, Nolan would bring Robinson along slowly with Hicks. Then then increase his load week by week.

the injury concerns of Gore is why i own both Hicks and Robinson in my dynasty, while not owning gore. im just waiting.... :tumbleweed:
