Michael Turner (1 Viewer)

Ivory is a very intriguing back, and I would like to see what he could do with 250 carries. But I will take Pierre.

Any chance any teams sign this guy before the season?
I would say he and Beanie Wells and Ced Benson and all those types are all squarely in a position where they need to get/stay healthy and just wait to see if a team has an opening due to injury. Wells might be able to declare himself healthy and draw some interest on his own due to his age but most of these other guys are going to have to be an "opportunity caused by necessity" in order to have a role.

An injury might open up an opportunity but it seems more now than ever that RBs are just so easily replaceable in the NFL.

Ya totally. It seems crazy that a guy with almost 1000 total yards and 11 tds last year no one even wants as a 3rd rb anywhere. But I guess when you think about it, big names need to start dropping out of the league as 10 or so rookie rb's are making rosters each year, you gotta be losing around the same number of them from the league.

Still no prospects for Turner, here huh?

Seems like WRs / TEs have been taking major injury hits this year, not so much with the RBs.

Yeah, it is a bit odd. It would seem like a team like (off the top of my head) the NY Jets, Arizona, Indy, Cle, Jac, KC, SD could all find a spot for a proven veteran like Turner, if even just for depth. I suspect teams are interested in evaluating what they presently have before filling gaps with a veteran like Turner or McGahee.

Probably what you will see for turner, Wells, and any other guy out there that can pass a physical now is to not be signed until after Week1. Right now, team roster spots are a premium so its not just that they look and say "hey we can use a Rb..Turner is out there." They are looking at their entire team and trying to decide if they want to try to hold this LB or that Wr, etc.

But after the season starts, if they have a guy that they think is promising, they can IR him if they can manufacture (or legitimately) have an injury somewhere on the team. I'm not certain, but I think also if a team waits to sign after week 1 then there is some financial component to not having all a vets salary guaranteed. Seems like this has come up before.

Correct. They can drop him mid-season and not have the rest of his salary guaranteed. If he's on the roster ahead of week 1 the entire salary is guaranteed regardless of if the player is dropped.

Have any of you drafted him recently in redrafts with deep rosters?

I know it sometimes looked like he was running in quicksand last year, but I find it hard to believe his phone won't ring when some inevitable key RB injuries occur.

Turner sightings have been so far and few in between that I actually clicked on this link thinking he must have been picked up by Carolina or Green Bay, given their losses today.

I have not seen Turner touched in the deepest of leagues.

Hmmm. I forget where I heard it, but evidently he is "keeping himself in shape."

Of course, that shape could be round.
