Right because all he ever did was kill dogsGet over it dude, he earned his first 100 millions dollar contract, lost it by killing dogs, served his time, came back and earned another one. Its time for you to move on, the rest of the world has.Congrats to Vick.

Get over the dog fighting stuff already. It's not exactly like he was just killing dogs because he liked to feel their blood dripping down his hands. He enjoyed dog fighting, a tradition older than America. Yeah, the nation frowns on it now, but the truth is that the majority of us did not, and still do not, give a #### about the dogs he put down.

Exactly.Oh and to all the "paid his dues" idiots, the only reason he did is because he got caught, period ...
So? He still paid 'em. I don't want him on my team but get over it. He paid, he worked hard and has been working with the ASPCA and he won't be doing it again, he earned another contract. Ridiculous to keep bringing it up like he's cheating America or doesn't deserve it.

I ran over a cat and killed it yesterday. Should I turn myself in?

Oh wait, nobody gives a ####.

Great deal for the man. Shows what some hard work and a good attitude can accomplish when your world is turned upside down. He could have quit or rode off into the sunset, but he fought through all hardships and has now gained back everything he lost.

We may need to put all the PETA members replying to this thread on suicide watch tonight.

yup , deal with it
Michael Vick definitely did not profit from dog fighting. In fact, the exact opposite happened. He did, however, profit from being a once in a lifetime quarterback.

Is vick a sc*mbag? sure, will always think he is. Did vick do disgusting and awful things to dogs? Absolutely.

Did vick pay for his crime? Yes he did(and it doesn't matter than he only paid cause he got caught, still PAID for his actions). Does he deserve a 2nd chance? Why not?

I still personally think the likes of Stallworth or L.Little are much worse since they took HUMAN LIVES, but to each their own i guess.

40 million guaranteed

I'm not sure if his was the wisest move on the Eagles part.Seems too early for that cash

I'm a dog owner and found what he did was loathsome but he paid his debt to society .

Wow. I've always loved Vick, but I have a feeling Philly will wish they'd waited a half a season to finish that negotiation.
I tend to agree with this, but I think one factor was removing the franchise tag from Vick to use it on DeSean Jackson.
. That and they had to get the deal done by the 20th. I forgot about that. Risky deal, but I guess they didn't have much of a choice. Good for Vick.

I realize you are trying to be a smart ###, but Vick did profit off of his illegal dog fighting ring. Despite what people that are immune to animal cruelty believe, there is a distinction between it and violence towards people for a reason. The reason people even get persecuted for it is because its a senseless violent crime. Animals, especially domesticated animals are helpless, literally been bred to serve people and using violence towards them is just absolutely disgusting. These crimes shouldnt exist in a civilized society.

The Man served his time and by all accounts people should begin to accept him back into society. But dismissing what he did, or praising him based off his one (of two) good seasons back in the NFL and even more disgusting rewarding him is completely despicable.

Not saying he hasnt earned a new contract, but 100 million? 40 Million gauranteed? What kind of example is our society as a whole making when this goes on? Also, to the people that drag up how comparably to the things other NFL players are accused of I only have this to say.

There is a difference between being convicted and being accused. Also, those people shouldnt be praised either. Looking at you Ben. (you're cool ray lewis)

No different from blacks being enlaved for over 400 years by racist people and during the 60's and 70's civil rights movement they were attacked by German sherpards during protests and treated worse than dogs. Guess what the people that treated blacks that way are still alive and well today with no prison time servedThis goes back to that article if Michael Vick was white, AMERICA WOULDVE BEEN FORGIVEN HIM AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT.Prime example: Ben Roethlisberger= Accused of rape TWICE in the same year.He may not have been convicted but there was surely enough evidence to convict himThe cop involved in his second case was fired for treating the victim like garbageThe cops didnt get video footage of Ben going to the bathroom with her the night it happened, they waited two days later only for the bar owner to say it was erasedThey didnt take Ben's DNA which is required in every rape caseThe doc that examined the girl said she had bruises and lacerations on her.But you wont hear nothing about that. Its not like Vick is Casey Anthony.

This is a perfect example of an uneducated mouthbreather.Makes outlandish uneducated comparisons, that are incredibly off topic. This has nothing to do with Vick being black. We dont know what happened with Ben, we dont know the circumstance, we dont know. He shouldnt be praised like he is, but he also shouldnt be scrutinized like Vick is. We know exactly what happened with Vick, he had such a disregard for animal lives that even though he was a star millionaire athelete. He ran a dog fighting ring for fun and profit.

Do you make no distinction between hunting game for food/sport (which hunting for sport is such bull#### to begin with) to starving domesticated animals to death or near death and forcing them to fight each other to the death?

Our society is setting an example that the justice system worked for once. The purpose of the penal system is to make you pay for your crime, rehabilitate you and then send you back to society where you should be given a 2nd chance and not continue to be persecuted for the mistakes that you have already served time for. This is the way that it should be. He just so happens to play a sport that pays elite QB's a boatload of money. You don't think an elite QB is worth $100M?
There is a difference between being convicted and being accused. Also, those people shouldnt be praised either. Looking at you Ben. (you're cool ray lewis)
I have no problem praising people for turning their lives around. Or for losing it all, manning up to it and coming back stronger.

Considering if they franchised him two years in a row it would be 34 million guaranteed, the deal sounds about right. They free up cap space with the six year length as well.

Does this make Vick the first player ever to sign two 9 figure deals?

Just a horrible signing for the Eagles either way, still can't read a D and you've got to wonder how fast those legs will be in 2 or 3 years with the abuse he is certain to take.

In the midst of a brilliant off-season this is a definite strategic misstep.

Without seeing the breakdown, it sounds like it is basically a three year deal. Would be a decent sized cap hit if they cut him in three years however. There may be changes from the collective bargaining agreement however.
