I gotta tell ya... it's one of life's great mysteries how Russo made it as far as he did in the radio industry. The guy is a complete MORON. A flat-out unrivaled imbecile. Let me first say that I only tune in to his show when Stern
and NFL Radio are both at commercials. That amounts to me hearing about 15-20 minutes of his show each day, and even THAT is becoming too taxing.
First, he mispronounces every fifth word. It's mind-boggling. The most simple words that a 7th-grader would know... he butchers them. And he does it in his patented unintelligible style. ("
Ahhhhhhh BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAHHHHHHHHHH") Then, as I've mentioned in the past,
everything is a "scenario." He tells us about the "scenario" of this or that every 30 seconds.
But the breaking point was a few days ago. The ONE redeeming quality Mad Dog used to possess was that, in spite of being an enormous goofball, his memory was remarkable. He could rattle off dates/names/stats from a game 30 years ago, and it would be accurate. Now, he doesn't even have that to fall back on. He and Steve Torre were discussing Bert Jones of the 70s Colts. Torre comments about how great Jones was in '76-'77. Dog starts basically screaming at him, saying Jones was not great then... that it was actually '72-'73. I knew Torre was correct, as the famous Double OT "Ghost to the Post" Raiders/Colts game took place in 1977. So he not only forgot the date of that legendary game, but he's yelling at Torre for being wrong. Torre then pulls out the stats book, big mouth sees that he was incorrect and he shuts up without apologizing.
Torre is excellent at his job. The fact that he has to work for this brain-dead idiot, AND take crap from him makes my blood boil. He must go home at night and sob knowing that he works for a chimpanzee. Dog doesn't even bother watching big games on TV anymore. No time to... his kid (LeBron Russo) has basketball games he must attend.
On a side note, gotta love Dino Costa, whose show comes on right after Russo. He does a
dead-solid-perfect Dog imitation, and he's not afraid to point out what a bonehead he is, which he does often.
