Mike Bell in Zealots (1 Viewer)

First year in a zealots league, so everybody's got the $5000 zbucks. What's a FA like this worth? Even if you don't think he'll be the starter, he's obviously going to have some impact and with roughly 115 RBs on rosters already, he's definitely got worth. What's he gone for in your leagues' bidding wars?

I'm very interested in this as well. We have $100 in a new dynasty league to bid with.....first week of the season the blind bid starts.....what the heck is this guy worth if he winds up the starter.

Is $4,000 out of the realm of possibility for a guy that has a chance to be a starting RB? I'm thinking he may go for the max amount (a few teams have made no FA bids yet so they could go up to $5,000).

I'm currently high bidder, but bidding against 4 other teams (so far) - he's now at $2,000.

Without checking, I'd bet most Zealots leagues have between 75-100 RBs rostered - you can't find 'em on the side of the road, that's for sure. The bidding would have to go awful high to surprise me on this one.

He's up to $4K in Z18. Keep in mind, though, that values vary wildly in Zealots from league to league - depending on the makeup of the owners, roster dynamics, etc....Look on the bright side: he won't go for over $5K in your league :banned:

I'm actually quite pissed about this one. I'm a Vice in one of the Zealots so I created him and put a $50 bid on him a little more than a week ago. I have been paying attention to Cecils comments on him and thought it would be worth a shot. Once you put a bid on a guy you have to wait 48 hours before he's yours. And with less than 2 hours to go someone bumped him to $100 but I thought it was no big deal because Bell was still an unknown. I put Bell up to $200 and again was a couple hours away from winning him when Shannahan announced that Bell was going to be the starter. Needless to say I'm a little dissapointed I won't be able to get him (especially for so cheap) cause now he's up around 2500. :wall:

Zealots veterans,

How screwed am I if I bid up to $4500 and am left with peanuts in my account? He's at $3500 now (not me any more as high bidder, I quit at $3000).

However,

My RBs are not good (too many semi-boom/major busts and Barber may retire):

Tiki Barber

Dominic Rhodes

Chris Brown

TJ Duckett

Mewelde Moore

Ricky Williams

and worse

So, if he were to be the #1 RB, I could REALLY use him.

You'll be fine. Spend as much as you want. Every week you get more money depending on your record. If you do spend alot all it means is that you'll have to sit out when the next "Mike Bell" comes along. I haven't ever seen any Zealot team sitting and wishing they had a few hundred more dollars to bid on some players with.

And even if you do, it is pretty easy to trade a backup for a couple hundred.

I put a bid on him in my Zealots league before the news came along of his promotion to preseason #1 RB .... got him for $300. :D Now we have to see if he keeps the job!

:goodposting: He was actually drafted in both Z35 and Z38 rook drafts.

5k in Z5

What do you guys do if multiple people bid 5k? Who wins the bid?
Z5 has been around for awhile. Our money transfers over every year. We have people with anywhere between 0 and 18k.
That is insane. I lose Internet access for a couple days; get back online and an undrafted FA is up for auction at more than $5K.

In order to stay ahead for the future, I think you should place a bid on all undrafted free agent RBs in case it happens again

Why do people think 5K is nuts? Dayne and Bell owners wouldn't take 5K for their guys and if I owned Mike Bell I wouldn't take 5K for him either. I would probably leave myself about a 1000 zbs and bid up to that point on Mike Bell.

I spent a ton on Ricky Williams two season ago - something like 3600 in the first year of a Z league. I'm happy with the results - zbucks aren't very useful in my experience.

Bell is up to around 3600 in Z39 (first year league) right now.

If you believe in Bell, bid up to as much as you have. If it looks like the bidding is headed to 5k, be the first to make that bid in case that makes you the winner.

On the flip side, if you own Bell, I'd consider testing the trade waters. People can go insane about Denver RBs, and you could get a very nice return for him in the right league.

I bid $4,000 on him in Z18 in hopes that someone would take the bait and outbid me. He's up to $4,950 now.

He's at 2250 in Z34, and there are several guys involved, but the bidding has gone slowly.

The poor guy that started the bidding for him, was about 12 hours away, I think, from scoring him for 150, and the news broke. He's taking over an existing team, that was terrible too, so it would've been good for him. Now he has no chance (not enough ZBucks.)

I'm surprised it's this low actually.

Other current auctions in this league:

Alfred Fincher: $2350

Ahmad Brooks: $1950

I'm currently leading the bidding in Z37 at $2050.

My current backs are LT, Droughns, C. Brown, Dayne, Staley, Scobey, and Turner - so he's definitely worth a few grand as a flyer.

The Titans got him in that league for 50 ZBucks in June. The other 11 guys in that league missed the boat on that one. :wall:

Ha ha. What a geek I am. I meant Z32. This explains why my team is in the crapper.
Ah, now I get it.

Meh, at the time he was 4th string and fighting for a roster spot. Why would we know to pick him up at the time instead of other longshots? I got Noah Herron for 50 zbucks - there are just too many 4th string guys out there and not enough roster spots for people to be fighting over all of them.

I did the same thing however I had to post it on the message board because I am not a commish and I think it took a long time before the bid actualy began.People did not start bidding him up until more recently. I have no way of knowing if 48 hours actualy passed from my post time on the message board and when the next bid went out on him. But in any case Bell is now at 6050 Zbucks from a team who was pretty late to the party. And that price is out of my reach.

$7K in Z6

i have almost $12 K myself and am considering bidding... :banned:

I thought for a while yesterday that your bid might hold - it stayed at $4K for 15 hours. I opened him at $50, half- hoping everyone would be on vacation & he'd slide through. In 4 hours, Bell was over $1,500.

Bell, Mike DEN RB $12500.00
thats my bid...the reason i can bid so much is b/c of this though...RB Najeh Davenport (GB) - Won by Bears for $13,250 - Cowboys Don't Match - Processedfor some reson zbucks havent helped me much over the years...maybe bell will...if not...id rather have him then that turd davenport anyday...
