"Goodson is a running back the Panthers have quietly turned into their version of a slot receiver. He has caught five passes for 64 yards, numbers second only to Smith."

Also seems to be the primary kick returner in Carolina, and got 5 carries for 20 yards last week

Is he worth a look in deeper return yardage leagues?

As a Panthers fan, I can tell you that Goodson is getting a lot more looks in the offense, not only in the passing game. He is the primary kick returner and has been doing quite well with that role in both preseason and the first two games of the regular season. So is he worth rostering in deep leagues that reward return yardage? Definitely!

My gut told me this in the pre-season, but I passed on him in several deep leagues because Sutton seemed to the guy last year. Sutton has been hurt which may be inflating Goodson's carries.

Watched him in college, and he has tons of speed and talent, especially in the open field. Tough that he went to Carolina, but I can see him being a good back with opportunity. I would certainly say he is worth stashing away in deep leagues.

In my return league, I picked him up this week and will probably end up starting him as my RB3 over his teammate Stewart. He has 10 and 12 point games in the first 2 weeks, so he is definitely startable with those numbers.

"Goodson's been one of the bright spots in the Panthers 0-2 start, as he's showing flashes of big-play ability. He's third in line at running back, but he's the team's second-leading receiver, and showing signs of making more plays as the kickoff returner."

"And perhaps as much as any player on the roster, he stands to benefit from the switch to Jimmy Clausen, who has shown a willingness to dump off short passes rather than take chances on bigger plays downfield. That could allow Goodson to make a few more of those something-into-nothing plays."

From what I've read about Goodson he is being used as the primary kick returner, the primary 3rd down back per RotoWorld, and a slot receiver in certain situations, he's the team's second-leading receiver behind Steve Smith with 5 catches for 64 yards, and he has also played more snaps than Stewart thus far.

Paha; I'd rather roll with the idea that using Goodson when the game is on the line is a good reason why the Panthers are 0-2. DeAngelo and Stewart; hello. :)

Another article on Goodson - Quote from FB Tony Fiammetta - "I think in the end, Mike just has great athletic ability," fullback Tony Fiammetta said. "He's going to find a niche in this offense. You can't deny how good he is, and when he gets out there he makes plays."

Unfortunately for the Panthers, he is the 3rd best AT HIS POSITION at making plays. But is getting the ball as if he is the best at this... partially why they are winless this year.

Uhm, I think they're winless because Matt Moore has made Jake Delhomme look like the truth. Anyway of course they have great RBs, but Goodson has excellent receiving ability and last I checked the Panthers have a grand total of one NFL receiver on their roster. With 5 catches for 64 yards on 8 targets through 2 games, Goodson may be emerging as that second target we've been expecting for years. Definitely worth a dynasty stash.

They are also winless because their playcalling is horrid. 4 pass plays from the 4 yard line with Williams AND stewart on the sidelines = losers.

I tried buying Stewart low from a struggling owner to handcuff DeAngelo. Any DeAngelo owners out there considering grabbing Goodson as a handcuff to DeAngelo considering Stewart's lack of durability could mean enough touches for Goodson to be viable option if DeAngelo were to go down?

Any info about goodson's use with steve smith out, jarett cut, and still having a rookie qb? Will see the field more now and line up at wr some??

What happened to this guy? He was getting all kinds of targets and catches (for Carolina at least) and now is t getting those "slot" reps anymore?

Chance he's more involved after the bye week?
