Mike Hart (RB, Ind) -- Don't Fall Asleep On This Guy (1 Viewer)

Beat writer Phillip B. Wilson speculates that Mike Hart (full participant, ankle) will get "half the carries, if not more" with Donald Brown having failed to seize the feature back role and Joseph Addai (neck) still sidelined.

Last time I saw this guy, he looked pretty good. And I know with my own eyes D. Brown stinks.

I picked up Hart THIS week for use next week against a TN run D that can be run on.

Tempted to roll the dice this week at home with a good matchup with Dallas...coming off a bad loss.

We can at least agree on that. I've said all along Brown isn't special, and was a reach when the Colts drafted him.

I'd avoid both this week but I agree Hart has a chance to steal the starting job if Addai continues to miss time. Brown hasn't looked good and Hart was looking real good before he got hurt.

Funny. Nothing's personal around here.

Hart seems like a guy who could emerge just in time for the fantasy playoffs and be useful. Indy has to win and Brown has proved to be a bum. Addai's nerve damage could keep him out indefinitely.

Very strange how it's quiet on this guy. Could see Hart being the #1 waiver pickup NEXT week.

Yeah, I've considered dropping Keiland Williams for Hart just to add some depth on the bench, and in case he blows up.

also dropped Best for Hart in a TD heavy league where the rosters are set this Sunday

picked up Hart in a couple other leagues as a flier since I was impressed with his hard running before he got hurt. Has a couple nice match ups in the playoffs, especially at home Vs Jax in Week 15. The way IND is with their injury reports, I don't know when/if Addai could be back, and we all can agree that Brown is nothing special.

I'm tired of waiting; I just went ahead and dropped Addai for Hart. I won't be starting him this week, but if I don't lock up a first round bye, he may very well be in my flex position next week.

I dropped Brown for Hart. Wouldn't feel comfortable starting either this week but I think Hart might be the one to own after this week if Addai doesn't come back.

I think Hart is a valuable RB in both redraft and dynasty leagues. He is averaging close to 4.75 yards per carry this year.

I think he could blow up if he can find a groove as the starting RB in Indy.

Indy's schedule down the stretch is awfully nice for RBs, but if these two are splitting 50/50, it's gonna be hard to start either. That said, I thought Hart looked great before he sprained his ankle in that game a few weeks ago. If anyone has a shot at taking a 65-70% share, it's Hart IMO. I agree with others' opinion that Donald Brown is poo.

We'll see but I took a flyer on Hart on the off chance he just seizes the role entirely. Brown is not very good, Hart just looks way better.

At this point you have to wonder how effective Addai will be when/if he returns considering he's coming back from a neck injury. He's a tough guy but he's been out several weeks and I'm not sure you can just assume he'll be all the way back or close when he returns. I think Hart has a real shot down the stretch. At worst, he could be a solid RB3 but he's a much more instinctive RB than Brown so he could give the Colts at least something close to a running game which Brown has pretty much been unable to provide.

The dynasty angle could be an interesting one. Addai will be an UFA after this year, and could go elsewhere. Plus, if the team misses the playoffs, they may decide to just let Addai go and start anew at the RB position. If Addai doesn't return, it sure doesn't seem like Brown has shown enough to give team brass confidence that he's the heir apparent.

It's Addai. No wait, it's Disco Donnie Brown. Er, now it's Hart. Hey, why is Edgerrin...I mean Javaris James getting all the love.

This situation is far too uncertain to start any one of these guys.

Exactly what I did. The writing is on the wall for KW. He had his chance but it seems pretty clear they want to keep him as 3rd type of back.Hart could be a playoff back or completely fizzle but it's worth the effort.

hart has played the best out of all the backs, tho over a small sample. its established that donald brown doesnt get goalline carries. javaris doesnt get regular work. and addai is hurt. sure seems that hart is the best gamble of the bunch.

*** Friday Update *** RB Mike Hart (IND) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 3, reports Phillip B. Wilson, of The Indianapolis Star. He is listed as questionable for Week 13 and could be a game time decision.

Entire blurb from that same writer though:
RB Mike Hart (ankle) — After a couple days of full, he was a DNP today, but don’t read too much into that. The hunch is they just gave him some rest so he’s ready for his first share of the backfield workload in a month. There’s always the chance he had a setback, and we wouldn’t know from him because he’s still a no-show in the locker room for interviews, but I’m leaning toward the positive. Expected to play.

Wilson's much closer to the team obviously and he's a sharp beat writer but the one thing I'd note is Hart also missed practice last Friday and while he was active he did not play against the Chargers. The fact he again missed practice this week on Friday is a red flag for me. Maybe he is just getting rest as Wilson said but given the late starting time I'm not sure you can gamble on Hart (or Brown) this week. I think it's a good week to avoid the Indy backfield and see how it shakes out on the field.
